Poldark is an amazing show, but the books have all the details and depth that will captivate your soul!

A fitting end to the Poldark series. I would recommend the books to anyone who has only watched the tv series - there is so much more in them.

In-depth characters that I have come to care about. Easy to read and no matter how far into the series i'm still left wanting more. Poldark is a great character whether you love him or dislike him. This series has something for everyone. Historical fiction, love, family, politics, and it can be heartwarming and hard at the same time.

Honestly, I loved this series. It made me laugh, it made me cry and I would read it all again, except for this book. This book seemed like it was full of promise until I read it and realised it was really just full of fluff. There wasn't a lot to be said about the main characters in the Poldark family in this one. It was basically a repeat of bits and bobs from earlier novels that were too tired to work any longer.

As much as I hate to say it, I think the previous book, with a few minor additions, would have been better as the last in the series. I felt like the characters simply began to sit idle in this book and the author had to really stretch to give them something to do. I read it page by page, but it took me far longer to get through than the other books in the series.

It was not as I hoped, but I can now say that I have finished the series. Sadly, I do not feel that I can recommend this book on its own merits. The rest of the series was certainly worth a read.

First line: The evening was loud and wild.

Summary: In the final book of the Poldark saga we follow the family as they deal with their grief and the trials of a changing world after the end of the war in France. Ross is a country gentleman with a family to care for and his daughters are dealing with their own struggles.

My Thoughts: I am really sad to see the Poldark story end. I loved each and every one of the books and the TV show. I was happy to see that everything ended in a happy and solid manner. I love that George is still a cantankerous man even as he aged. I liked Clowance and Bella’s storylines. I could have read a whole other book just about them.

FYI: If you like Downton Abbey or Outlander than these would be great reads.

Bella Poldark has got to be my favorite from Poldark series. I love this series! Winston Graham's talent really shines through in this one.
Five series.

This was a great ending to a superb series. Graham’s writing was very atmospheric and I love the entire series. I recommend this book highly.
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

"The twelfth book in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece PBS.

Cornwall 1818

We continue the tale of Ross and Demelza; of the wayward Valentine Warleggan, whose existence keeps open the old wounds of the feud between Ross and George; of Bella, the Poldarks' youngest daughter, whose precocious talent as a singer is encouraged by her old flame, Christopher Havergal, and by a distinguished French conductor, who has more in mind than Bella's music; of Clowance, the Poldarks' widowed daughter, who considers remarriage to one of two rival suitors; and of a murderer who stalks the villages of west Cornwall.

In his Poldark series, Winston Graham explores the complications of love lost and the class struggle of early 19th-century England with a light comic touch. Bella Poldark is the final Poldark book."

The question I am left with is how soon until a modern author takes up WInston Graham's mantel and continues this series?

Bella Poldark is a fantastic ending to a twelve book series. These characters are so well developed and interesting. The books pull you in and are well written. Fabulous series. A must read.

So sad to see this wonderful series about life in Cornwall come to an end. I have read all twelve books in the series and became very attached to the characters and their lives. Ross and Demelza started it all but the story is to end with their fourth and youngest daughter Bella who although supposedly favors her mother the most is not nearly as interesting a character to me. I found her shallow and too self-involved to be a chip off the old block. More interesting plot points revolved around Valentine and his rescue monkey in my opinion. It is nice to see the end of the series all wrapped up and tidy with the new generation living in relative comfort and peace.

**This review actually refers to five books in this series: Stranger From the Sea, The Miller's Dance, The Loving Cup, The Twisted Sword & Bella Poldark**

I really have no clue what rock I was living under....I have no excuse. But, up until recently, I had no idea the Poldark series on television is based on a series of books! I love sweeping historical family sagas. I have no earthly clue how I missed this one! Rectifying the situation immediately!

There are 12 books in the Poldark Saga, written by Winston Graham from 1945-2002. The books are set in Cornwall, starting with Ross Poldark in 1783 and ending with Bella Poldark in 1820.

It's official -- I love this series! And I'm reading my way through all of the books before I watch the television series. I have a rule that before I can watch a film or television adaptation, I have to read the books first. Then I'm acquainted with the characters and can see what they changed/added/kept true to the original, etc. There are actually two Poldark television series. One from BBC in the 1970s that serialized the first seven books. And then the newer series that started in 2015. There have been five seasons of the new show. I can't wait to watch it! Still reading my way through the books first...and enjoying every page!

The four books listed here are books #8-12 of the series. I had review copies of all 5 novels and read them cover to cover. Binge read them, to be honest. I love the characters...the setting....the history. I had to stop periodically and look some things up as I'm not familiar with the time period or history of Cornwall at all. The one problem with reviewing books is that I'm under a deadline. With historical fiction or family sagas, I like to take my time and let the story sink in and savor the characters. But with five books to read, and not having read the first books in the series beforehand, I was a bit lost in names, places, etc. The story was enough to carry me through! I loved every book!

I'm backtracking now and reading the series from the start....and I will re-read these books when I come back around to them. I will have an even better understanding of the characters and history during my second reading! And then I can watch the television show. I'm curious which books it has already covered and which ones are upcoming -- whether it stays true to the books or goes off course, etc.

Great books! I highly recommend this series to any readers who enjoy historical fiction, family sagas, and just history in general!

Love, love, love! :) Here are some extra exclamation points in case I did not make it clear that I enjoy this series: !!!!!!!!

Bella Poldark is a part of the beautifully written Poldark series. I do not think words would do the Poldark series justice. The prose is stunning and the story is captivating. The romance and ambiance is truly stunning

Excellent continuation of the Poldark story. Bella is grown up and making a career in the theatre exposing her to London and Paris thus changing her life from country to metropolitan . Back home her family continues to live with the ups and downs of living in the country. Although , the Poldark's always seem to get involved with drama
wherever they are.

The last book of a magnificent saga, this was perhaps the least interesting in some ways. It moves on to the story of Bella, the younger Poldark daughter, and her love interest(s). We are not very familiar with Bella, as she grew up during the 11 year gap between books 7 and 8, so are perhaps not quite as invested in her character. Saying that though, I was still glad to read yet another Poldark book, as I have been familiar with these characters for over 30 years! Not all loose ends were untangled, and some new characters were introduced, but I didn't care about them, just wanting to know about the beloved Poldarks and their circle, even nasty old George Warleggan and his fascinating wife. Truly the end of an era.
Many thanks to the publisher for a review copy.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I truly loved this book series, and I thought that Bella Poldark was a good ending. I don't personally know that I would have focused on such a young family member for the final book (only because it felt like some storylines weren't quite tied up), but overall, still a wonderful read!

Out of all of the new sequels coming out, this one was my favorite. It felt more like the main series than the others did, and less like a rushed addition. I really hope to see more like this one.

Bella Poldark by Winston Graham is the 12th and final book in the amazing Poldark series.

I have loved this series since the first book. My passion for these characters has never wavered and I truly feel as if they are a part of my family.

This novel focuses mostly on Bella, Ross and Demelza’s daughter, however it still encompasses so much more.

The world that Mr Graham created within Cornwall and the amazing descriptions of the rugged landscape made the reader feel as if they were truly there. You could feel the grasses rustling against your palms as you walked the fields, you can smell and feel the salt and ocean breeze with the sand surrounding your feet as you walked the coast. Just amazing.

Such a fitting and satisfying end to a series that I did not want to end.

I will have to read it all over again. This book, and this series as a whole, is something to treasure and savor.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this breathtaking conclusion of an ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR account immediately and will post to my Amazon, B&N, and Bookbub accounts upon publishing.

Thank you again!
