This book is such a fun, fast-paced read—perfect for a summer romance! It’s got all the swoon-worthy moments you want for a day by the pool. I read it almost in one sitting, but I do wish the characters were a bit more fleshed out; they felt a little generic at times.
That said, it’s total cuteness and laughter throughout! It’s light and fluffy, making it a great escape from everyday craziness. I’m not sure if I’m ready to dive into a series just yet, but I definitely enjoyed this one. If you're in the mood for a feel-good rom-com, this is a solid choice!
i love feel good books! at least that’s what this felt like to me. it felt like watching a summer rom com and honestly, that was all i was asking!
3,5 stars! fun, fast-paced and swoon-worthy: everything you need in a cutesy summer romance. this is a perfect read for a pool day. i just wish the main characters had been a little more fleshed out - this was enjoyable and i read it in practically one sitting, but it didn't have many characteristics to make it stand out.
Total cuteness, total fun, total love. Although, does it need to be part of a series? I guess we'll see when number 2 comes out... It's worth a read but I'm not sure I want to get into any romantic series.
This was a great rom-com that kept my attention and had me wanting to not put it down. Even though I wanted to smack Libby upside the head multiple times, she redeemed herself in the end. Harrison quickly became my next book boyfriend and has taken that top spot for the foreseeable future. I will definitely look for more books by Summers. Thank you, NetGalley for the eARC. 5 stars!!
Control freak and workaholic Libby is finally about to start life with her fiancé until she receives a text 10 minutes before the wedding. He’s not coming (this isn’t a spoiler). Libby goes on her caribbean honeymoon at paradise beach and plans to devise the plan to get her fiancé back (and to negotiate the acquisition of the resort from its handsome owner).
Witty and cute. The characters are very stereotypical but I really liked them anyway. From a glance at the goodreads page, the reviews are mixed but I honestly believe that this should have way more hype than it does and I can’t wait to read the second one in the series.
“I’m really sorry Libby. I’m not going to make it today. I can’t marry you…” Is the text message that pops up on Libby Dewitts phone 10 minutes before her wedding to her supposedly perfect fiancé, Richard Tomy. What about their perfectly planned life? What will she do now?
Libby decides to go on her honeymoon/work trip sans her would be husband and hopefully close the deal to buy a hotel and gain her a big promotion back home.
Unfortunately, the hotels owner, Harrison Banks, is desperate to keep the hotel in his family and is not interested in making Libby’s job easy.
The longer that Libby stays on the island the more she realizes that there is a special charm to it, and that she has to save the resort from her company, as well as from itself.
I found Libby to be a bit neurotic and controlling to begin with, but she does lighten up quite a bit once she starts to let her hair down and lets Harrison closer. I did find myself really rooting for her to make it work with Harrison.
Harrison was on of those great guys, who may have a bit of a hero complex, and wants to take care of everyone around him. Not just Libby, that extends to his employees as well. He desperately wants to save his resort so he can continue to care for his staff that have been loyal to him and his family for so many years. He can’t protect them if the new corporation takes over and guts the entire resort, which is what they plan on doing.
If you are looking for a light fluffy romance, this is the one for you. The book was a quick read, and did have some laugh at loud moments. If you are looking for a break from the craziness that is going on around us I would recommend this book as a light escape into a cute rom-com.
Not a fan sadly but it’s just because I didn’t know what to expect from it ahead of time so I was let down
British Romcom meets Caribbean vacation meets Hallmark movie. A great beach/vacation read for fans of Sophie Kinsella and the like. Cute, decently fast paced, albeit a bit predictable, but fun.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC! Sorry it took me so long before I got around to reading it.
In The Honeymooner we follow Libby, her mother was a hippie who couldn’t stay in one place for long, so she has spent most of her life trying to be the opposite of her mother. On the day of her wedding to the reliable Richard, he leaves her at the altar. Since the honeymoon was supposed to be a worktrip as much as a vacation, she goes to Paradise Bay alone. There she meets Harrison, the carefree owner of the resort her company wishes to buy - but maybe he can convince her that she should let loose for a change instead.
This was a fun and cute romance, which unfortunately was a bit meh for me. I just never really connected with the characters, and the story didn’t really bring anything new. But if you enjoy vacation romance books, this could be the book for you. It has all of the beautiful settings, some funny moments and a hot love interest.
A witty and funny read, perfect for a summer holiday read. The book lived up to all expectations and I would recommend this to my friends.
This was my first read by this best-selling author, now I’m obsessed and want to read all her books. The whole jilted bride plot-line was done with a great deal of originality. The fact that she felt like she lost her “rock” in life and was in such denial made her an extremely relatable character.
Libby was such a fun main character to follow. She was type A all the way and being left at the alter was exactly what she needed to let loose and let go. I don’t have much to say about Harrison except for the fact that I absolutely loved him. Even through all his stubbornness, he manages to show you what a great person he is. I wish we had a lot more of Alice, but hey maybe we will get another book just about her.
I thought this one was a quick and fun contemporary read. I loved every minute of it, and wish it never had to end. I’m so glad there is more to this series.I feel like this one would be a great beach or vacation read. You really don’t need any excuse to pick this one up, I highly recommend it.
This is a fun, well-written rom-com, full of laughter and sexiness set in a tropical paradise. Initially, it seems like a case of opposites attracting, but as time goes on, the protagonists Libby and Harrison realize they have much more in common than they initially thought. If you’re looking for a light vacation read, pick this up and look forward to the sequel.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Indigo Group through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
I was given this free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book was exactly as described, a romantic comedy. It was light and refreshing after having read a few dark books. Perfect read to take on vacation!
Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
A highly entertaining romcom that will make you smile and laugh throughout the book. After having her wedding ruined Libby discovers a new side to her self. It’s plenty of romance and fun
I really tried to finish this book so I could give it an accurate review however I did not find it capturing enough to keep me entertained to finish.
This was a fun story about a woman letting go and finding herself, at a beautiful tropical resort. Harrison (the hero) was trying to keep his resort going for the sake of his family and all the people working there, but when a beautiful woman from a global resort company comes to look into a takeover or buyout of the resort, things get messy when hearts get involved. The book was sweet, not too steamy (definitely more fade to black, on the sexy scenes), and a fun read. Overall I am glad I read it, and will probably pick up the sequel when it is available too.
What a fun book! I wasn't expecting to like it, I forgot how much I love chick lit, but this book reminded me of that. It had a lot of funny moments, likeable characters and all in all just. a great light read.
I read a lot of romantic comedies and this was so funny and cute. I really enjoyed the perspectives of both characters and he conflict with the selling of the resort. The dialogue was funny, the plot was interesting and the chemistry created between the main characters was great! I immediately downloaded the sequel!
4 ⭐s for humor, 2 1/2 ⭐s for originaity and being predictable. Bride gilted by groom, left at the alter. Brides goes on honeymoon/work vacation alone. Bride (not) makes a fool of herself with the "bartender" who ends up being the owner of the resort with whom she had demanded a meeting to orchestrate a hostile takeover. Blah, Blah, Blah.. Groom (not) hints her down and wants her back, she sends him packing (YAY!). Resort owner and jilted bride fall in love and live (presumibly) happily ever after. Amusing and entertaining...
