I received a free copy of The Honeymooner by Melanie Summers thanks to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for my unbiased review.
This was my first book by Melanie Summers and I flew through it in just 24 hours!
Libby is a structured gal with a great job, life and fiancé who has a perfect vision of how her life should be. On the day of the wedding, her fiancé leaves her at the altar and so begins her adventure on her solo ‘honeymoon’ at a resort she’s trying to acquire for the company she works for. Opposites attract when she meets the owner of the resort and tries to persuade him to sell; they try hard not to like one another for many reasons but can’t fight the attraction to one another. The story unfolds from here into a hilarious and perfect romance read.
This is a perfect, not too steamy romantic beach or vacation read. It was a quick, and easy to breeze through book, and immediately left me wanting to read the next book in the series. Highly recommend!
I received a free ebook of The Honeymooner by Melanie Summers thanks to #NetGalley and I could not wait to start reading it. I finished this book in 2 days . this was my first book by her and I absolutely loved it and will be reading more of her books. Iove rom coms and I especially love rom coms that take place in a tropical location and this book gave you really nice descriptions of the surroundings.
Libby was left at the altar partly because he didnt think she was spontaneous or adventurous enough so her goal in Pradise Bay is to prove him wrong also to get the owner of the hotel to sign off on a takeover by the hotel group she works for. The hotel owners name is Harrison and of course he has no intention of selling.
Libby and Harrison are opposites but there is an attraction between them right off the bat. The more they get to know each other the more they like each other. This book was funny and had me laughing out loud multiple times. I loved both main characters and their back stories. It was a great read and cant wait to read another by this fabulous author. #TheHoneymooner
Funny, fresh and written in a style all on it’s own, The Honeymooner is a fantastic romantic comedy. I absolutely loved the story of Libby and Harrison, two opposites who come together in paradise and find that they fit together perfectly. The story follows Libby, a woman who craves structure in her adult life since she didn’t get it as a child. She’s all set to marry the perfect groom, a guy she knows without a doubt will fulfill her desire for structure. Unfortunately for Libby, her groom backs out at the last minute, leaving her structured life in ruins. She decides to go on her honeymoon without him - since it’s doubling as a business trip - so that hopefully her absence will make him appreciate what he’s missing. But once she arrives in paradise, Libby meets the owner of the resort her boss wants to purchase, Harrison. The two meet under unusual circumstances, and the chemistry between them is obvious from the start. However, Libby is tasked with convincing Harrison to sell his beloved but struggling resort, and Harrison has no intention of selling out to a corporation.
For a book that focuses on such heavy topics - being left at the altar, loss of identity, struggling to keep a business afloat - the book is very light and contains plenty of humor. There’s very little angst, because of the humor and romance mixed in with deeper topics, and I loved the combination. Libby and Harrison are both extremely likeable, relatable characters at a crossroads in their life, and it is in this that they find their commonalities. Harrison was so loveable and sweet, he really made this book what it is. I loved the slow burn romance. It’s a relatively clean book - while there are references to sexy times, there are no explicit descriptions of sex, which kept with the tone. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’ve been meaning to try out one of Melanie Summers’ books, and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.
I received The Honeymooner by Melanie Summers through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this book was really good! It was humorous without being dumb, and the characters were flawed, but likable. I am definitely going to look for more books by this author. If you're on the fence, buy this book!
Libby is jilted on her wedding day. She decides to go on her honeymoon anyway, on her own, and plans to get Richard to want her back, so she can have the life she has so carefully planned.
Once on the island, she meets Harrison. When they first meet they don't know who each other really is, once they find out and he realises she is from the global company wanting to buy up his resort, things change between them. As they spend more time together they start to fall for each other, so what will happen as Libby's time of the island comes to an end?
Entertaining read, and looking forward to the next in this series.
I loved this one Libby was left at the ulter by her fiancé and she rises up and goes on a work vacation slash honeymoon on her own so vacation plus a new love interest makes for a good book!!!!
This is a book for your holiday if you like romantic comedies, at parts this book made me literally laugh out loud. It was very predictable, I knew exactly what was going to happen but this is the case with most romantic comedies. I enjoyed this book, a very easy read and would read the next in the series to see what happens
This was a thoroughly entertaining read. I enjoyed it. The way Libby manages to overcome her fear of uncertainty to show her love for Harrison was moving. It was also great to see how the family played a major comedic and supportive role through out the story(especially Rosy). Although the story could have had a greater depth, I should say it was great fun.The author did a good job keeping the story quite balanced between detailing the professional side of both the main characters while maintaining the romantic element. That was efficiently done so as to not bore the readers with all the business managing and acquisition stuff(and educating them at the same time) and it definitely deserves a mention. I had fun reading it. Will definitely recommend it to others too.
I love Melanie Summers, and her newest series certainly doesn't disappoint! The Honeymooner follows Libby Dewitt as she is left at the alter and then goes on her work trip/honeymoon alone. At the resort that her company is looking to take over, she finds love and herself. The characters and plot, while a bit cliched, are well-developed and lead to some truly laugh-out-loud moments. The Honeymooner is the perfect book to enjoy poolside this summer!
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Is there anything better than a love story, where people least expect it? The answer? No. Obviously. Add in an island paradise, an impossibly good looking man and a relatable, fun heroine, then you've got a fantastic read - whether you're in warm weather or not.
A gorgeous love story about Libby, who has just been left jilted at the altar, deciding to go on her honeymoon/business trip (yes, she combined them), to inspect a beautiful resort that her company wants to acquire. Now this is where she meets handsome Harrison, resort owner, adventurer and all round great guy (especially when compared to Libby's ex-fiance...) Of course, many adventures ensue, entanglements in rainforests, parasailing, and scary experiences on wobbly bridges, and Libby begins to learn to have her adventurous side show a little....
Characters:
I mean, is there really that much to say here? I loved both Libby and Harrison, and they really did work well together. Harrison manages to bring out a side in ultra-prepared Libby that aids in her character development and it was wonderful to watch how they grew together. Libby is smart, witty and warm, and Harrison is funny, warm and adventurous - perfectly complementing one another. I loved them!
Storyline:
Perfect pacing, storyline - I loved it all! Whilst the basis of their story - jilted bride finding new love - is not unusual, the added twist of the business report Libby has to write adds a bit of drama and tension which was lovely to read along with.
Overall:
Clearly, I have nothing bad to say - I really did enjoy this novel. It's the kind of novel that makes you feel warm inside (and not just because of the tropical setting). Perfect to curl up with, with a tropical drink. Cheers!
Note: I was generously provided an ARC of this novel, by the publisher and the author via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Libby is left at the alter by her usually predictable fiancé and all her carefully laid plans are ruined. Not wanting to be anything like her hippie dippy mother, Libbie usually has everything planned down to the minute. Deciding to go on her honeymoon, since part of it was a work trip anyway, she plans to let loose a bit before meeting with the owner of the Paradise Bay resort to discuss business.. Her fiancé called her boring so Libby decides to start taking chances when she meets Reef at the hotel bar. Unfortunately, Reef is Harrison's nickname and he's the owner of the resort! Despite being wildly attracted to each other, they are on opposite sides of the business deal Libby is proposing so it gets complicated. Lots of humor and romance make this a sweet read.
Omg- I loved this one! It was so witty and the writing was hilarious. Several times I laughed out loud. It’s rare I like both the hero and the heroine but they were both so so good in this one. I won’t give spoilers but read this!!!! Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC!
The Honeymooner by Melanie Summers may be the first book I've read by the author but it won't be my last. Perfect for a beach vacation or a long weekend, The Honeymooner is a well written, light hearted and fun read.
This is one book that will leave you with a satisfied smile on your face.

I really liked it. Some parts of it was funny as I imagined it, but it shows you can rise up after something bad has happened in your life
Tbh, I was pretty annoyed at the heroine by page 1; she was too much for me. Then I felt bad for her, but was still annoyed by how in denial she was. But then I loved her! As for the hero, I was pretty annoyed at him too; way too hero complex. But then I loved him too!
So what I’m saying is, even if it annoys you a bit, stick with it because it gets better. So much better. And now I’m desperately awaiting the sequel!!!
This was such fun to read - well-written but also basically Hallmark + sex. I enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the series.
I enjoyed this book so much. This was the first book that I've read by this author. The storyline and book cover are the first things I noticed and it didn't disappoint. The book was from two points of view - the main character Libby - and Harrison Banks, the owner of the resort. Such a fun, quick beach read. It was funny, endearing and just a feel good rom com novel. I read it in one day! I highly recommend!
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

Maybe readers who can look past the most cliched elements of this genre (chick-lit) but this novel seem far too predictable for me. The characters themselves seem to fit the usual stereotypes: the whole 'opposite attracts', she is hard-working, he is laid-back...
I wasn't a fan of her thinking that she is different from other women:
"I'm not that kind of girl"
I'm so tired of reading this phrase and the implications that it carries (other women are flirty etc.).
The humour felt very forced.
As I said (or wrote) readers who can look bast overdone tropes might enjoy this.
This is a super fun rom com, which was both enjoyable and easy to read. I’ve never read anything by Melanie Summers before- but I definitely will be looking at more of her books. This book is charming and I didn’t want to put it down. I loved it! I definitely recommend.
