'Scarlet Rose #4: You Will Always Be Mine' with story and art by Patricia Lyfoung continues the story of Maud and Guilhem.
The wedding is approaching but Maud has self doubts, which the local rich young women aren't helping with. Meanwhile Guilhem is approached by a mysterious, impetuous young woman named Natalia with a secret he dare not share.
I've enjoyed this series, but this volume dipped a bit too much into melodrama for my taste. I've found Maud to be a pretty strong character and her misgivings in this volume seem out of character.
I loved the artwork, but the characters were lacking to me and I had a hard time connecting with them. Overall, it was enjoyable, albeit mindless, read.
I loved the art! It was so rich in color and depth. The characters however fell a little flat for me. There was nothing that made the reader relate to the characters and because of that it was very hard for me to feel invested. Maybe if I had started with book one I would have felt differently but I doubt it. Just didn't engage me enough on a personal level.
Funny, fast paced adventure of our heroes The Scarlet Rose / Maud and The Fox / Guilhem. As always, there are a lot of action and funny moments, but also are there some intrigue and treason... Who Natalia is? What she wants with Guilhem? Did she really knows where Guilhem's father is?
Thanks a lot for give this book to me. I enjoy it to the last page, that is, until the "to be continued" message! Please hurry with Book #5!
Funny and well plotted like always, this installment of the saga offers an unexpected twist I had not seen coming. New characters try to bring the lovers apart and ruin their impending nuptials. Will love win in the end? Follow the Scarlet Rose and her fiancé in another whirlwind adventure.
