Cosy is as quirky as her name suggests. Griffin is looking for something different in life. This is a fun story of opposites who find that they are perfect for each other. The two have to spend real time together getting to know each other. They go through some hilarious scenes and some ups and downs before they realize how much their differences don’t matter. The author does a good job of bringing the characters to life, telling their stories, showing their pains and joy. You will enjoy turning the pages as you experience the highs and lows as the story unfolds.
MAKING UP by Helena Hunting is book 4 in the Shacking Up Series. This is the story of Griffin Mills and Cosy Felton. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this is a standalone book.
Griffin is in Vegas for work but also has to buy gag gifts for a bachelor party. Cosy used to people coming into the shop for different reason some for bachelor / bachelorette parties but when Griffin walks in looking somewhat lost he brings out feeling in her. Griffin is immediately attracted to Cosy but she is somewhat hesitant to go out with him. There is a 10 year age difference with him being older, she goes to college and lives in Vegas where he is more established in addition to living away from Vegas. Of course there are always something else to make them doubt but love must win.
Enjoyed their story.
Reading this book was a pure delight for me, especially considering this crazy book funk state I found myself in. Lately, I’ve had a tough time finding a book that engages me and keeping my attention that I could later say I really loved. But this book had no problems achieving that, from chapter 1 I was already hooked and couldn’t wait to read more. Helena Hunting proved that there is more there than her amazing Pucked series and Clipped Wings.
Griffin and Cosy are such adorable characters with chemistry hotter than lava itself. The connection between the two was on the spot and it sure made the great story even better and the best part of it was how real it felt. This is definitely one of the cutest love stories I came across. I enjoyed reading this and loved it very much.
Recommend it and hope you will enjoy it too.
Helena does it again! Making Up is everything I love about her writing. It is sweet, charming, hilarious, quirky. I mean, who else would be able to start of a story in a sex toy shop?
Cosy is a free-spirited college student who is working in a sex toy shop in Vegas. Griffin, the oldest of the Mills brothers, is in Vegas for business and pleasure. There was instant attraction between the two of them and weeks after their first meeting, they are both still thinking about each other. Will Cosy be able to let down her guard and give in to Griffin?
I LOVE Cosy. She is awkward, she is gorgeous (both inside and out), she is smart and she is just an overall badass female who does what she wants. Griffin is out of a long term relationship and really isn’t looking for love after getting his heartbroken, but Cosy brings something out in him that brings out something new in him.
This is an age gap romance and I love that the characters casually bring this up throughout the story and can joke about it. Cosy and Griffin’s relationship is a slow burn but so so so so worth the wait! Their chemistry is great, I love that Cosy brings out a youthfulness to Griffin. Their relationship is a rocky road and Helena definitely threw a wrench in it, but whats a story without some drama?
Cosy’s sister, Nev, was a great secondary character and was protective of her sister. Of course, we got a little bit of the other Mills brothers, Bane and Lex, plus their cousin, Lincoln and everyone’s favorite Armstrong.
This is another MUST READ from Helena!

Set in Las Vegas and in New York, Making Up is about a man who runs an international, billion-dollar hotel empire, and a woman who runs the local adult toy store.
There were many moments in the story that I loved: it was sexy and funny, it made me laugh and swoon; Griffin’s sexy alpha tendencies had my ovaries exploding, and Cosy’s feistiness and sense of humor provided for great banter.
There were many differences between the characters: he’s rich, she’s poor; he’s in his thirties, she’s in her early twenties; he’s got it all going on, she’s just starting out and doesn’t know which road to take; he’s just ended a long-term relationship, she’s never had anything long-term. And for the most part, these differences worked.
For me, the problem came with the seemingly unnecessary drama. What made this worse was the way Cosy over-reacted in most situations. And, while she is young, her actions made her appear immature, rather than the strong, independent female we are being led to believe she was. There were a few times the mom in me came out and I wanted to yell at her to “slow down” and “quit rushing to judgement”. Fortunately, by the end of the book, she started to show signs of maturing.
I love Helena Hunting’s storytelling. I love her voice and the view of the world she shares with her readers. So while this may not have been my favorite in this series, I still quite enjoyed it and definitely cannot wait to read Lincoln’s book!
This book is pure joy.
Not all the time, mind. Helena Hunting does make her characters work for their happiness, but the book is joy nonetheless.
Cosy, a twenty-two-year-old college student and sex toy shop worker, is both guarded and hopeful as far as love is concerned. She believes in love, even if she isn’t so sure it’s something that will come to her. When she meets Griffin, the attraction is immediate. So is the evident age difference.
At thirty-three, Griffin is ready for … something. I always say that authors don’t age their characters thirty-three and then do nothing with it. Thirty-three is a symbolic age for rebirth (see: Jesus). You can’t be reborn without dying, though, so the question is which parts of himself does Griffin need to kill off?
These two are delightful. Cosy is whip smart and hilarious, as is Griffin. I loved how Helena Hunting drew their courtship. Griffin takes his time getting to know Cosy, making her comfortable with their prospective romance. He understands her skittishness, and he sees in her reasons for him to be persistent and attentive.
In fact, the little moments of Griffin’s awareness of Cosy are some of my favorites: he knows the different products she uses, he gets her favorite beverages and foods, he opens himself to road trips without pre-booking hotel rooms.
Yet you sense a foe brewing, someone who will try and knock Griffin and Cosy off their course. This is where Helena Hunting shows you the parts of Griffin that he needs to excise: his acceptance of the colorlessness of his life, his need to stick to the plan, his determination to seek what’s comfortable. When he allows himself to feel the heartbreak that comes with letting go of those elements, you will love him a little more.
The way Helena Hunting plays with the title is also a joy. Griffin and Cosy have some conflicts and obstacles, and to get through those, they need to make up. You find yourself almost looking forward to them making up, even though you know they will have to suffer beforehand.
The sexy times are delicious, as you would expect from Helena Hunting. Griffin and Cosy delight in each other, and you will delight in their delight.
The only reason this is not a five-star book for me is due to a plot point that leaves a lot more questions than it answers, to the point where it feels distracting. It’s a somewhat minor quibble, though, in an otherwise fantastic story.
Cute, funny, hot and charming. I felt so at home while reading this story. The characters act so natural, so real, it seemed it was happening in real life, only with perfect pace and romance.
Cosy and Griffin kept surprising me with their approachable charm, their honest chemistry and dialogues. She is a free spirit with very clear goals that dittach from the cliché, and he is a handsome gentleman with baggage and a noble heart. They are mismatched but match like a fated puzzle.
They get to know each other and it's sweet as well as powerfully hot. He woos her in the most blissful ways. They are themselves when they are together. Despite that, some surprises come up like mold on good bread. It really becomes an avalanche on top of poor Cosy. I loved the easy, happy times. Then bad times accost this wonderful couple and it feels overwhelming.
This Prince Charming may have some serious dragons in his backyard, but he's surely committed to showing his feelings towards his woman. I loved the moment when he turns possessive as his feelings start getting deeper. There is a funny scene to prove that.
Griffin and Cosy's relationship is spontaneous, fun, sensual and lively. It's also a mess as life is a mess when all the bad things catch up with this very much in love couple, and the ending is so heartwarming, I felt rejuvenated. I'm very glad I read this :-D
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
I have to lead with that! My best read of July for sure! Maybe, the best of my summer!!!
I always love a Helena Hunting book and Making Up... no exception at all!!! So freaking awesome!
So many emotions, including that awful quivering, sinking feeling in my tummy when something goes terribly wrong. It doesn't help knowing that somehow it's going to work out, it's just bad!
For me that was chapter 15... knowing that a happily ever after is coming doesn't stop the anxiety at all! The worst part was that I had to stop reading before I could finish the rest! Gahhhhh!
I thought I might have a heart attack!
Anyway, I'm not going to say anything else!
Making up is releasing on July 16th! So really, you should just pre-order it now so that it hits your Kindle and you can just start reading it! You won't want to miss this one!
"I can't risk falling for someone temporary. I can enjoy this time with him. He can be a fairy-tale chapter in my life."
Truthfully, all I had to see was the author's name on the sexy book cover, but after reading the synopsis I was very intrigued to get my hands on this latest standalone in the Shacking Up series. And I must say, it was even better than I anticipated.
Cosy is my latest girl crush. She's sweet, funny and very laid back. She takes life as it comes and is not upset if things don't move quickly. She's impulsive and adapts to whatever life throws at her. Her job at the adult toy store pays the bills but it's not her dream career. Though when sex in a suit walks through the door needing help with gag gifts for a bachelor party she's not complaining about being there to assist. She's used to being the eye candy, but this time she lucked out and got a treat for herself.
Griffin is embarrassed to reveal his sex toy shopping list to the beautiful sales girl. He knows she probably thinks he's a pervert and won't ever consider dating him. But he can't stop thinking about her. What will it take for her to give him a chance?
This story is guaranteed to make you swoon. There's sweet and sexy, fun and flirty, secrets and surprises, mysteries and misunderstandings, and best of all love and laughter. I loved it and I know you will too.
Making Up by Helena Hunting was such a fun & addicting read. She has such an easy writing style that lets the reader just have fun, smile and feel like they know her characters.
Making Up tells the story of Griffin and Cosy. Cosy works in an adult themed store and meets Griffin when he is there to buy favors for a bachelor party. She is young, free spirited and fun. Griffin is your typical suit wearing businessman on the surface but deep down he wants the opposite. He wants casual and thinks Cosy is the answer while he is in Vegas.
Their relationship has its ups and downs, but their chemistry, their dates and all that happens in between will leave you smiling as you turn the pages. It’s an adorable story with some romance, slight bit of angst and heart warming moments.
I really enjoyed their banter and how they wanted the best for each other. They were a good yet unexpected fit.
This was my first book in this series and I need to go back and read the others. I don’t want to say too much about the story as you should experience everything as it happens. If you are looking for your next fun, light read, Making Up should be one clicked today!
I was so excited to read the fourth installment in Helena Hunting's Shacking Up series, and devoured the novel in a few hours. Making Up follows Griffin, the oldest Mills brother, who we didn't get to see much of in previous novels. I was super excited when I heard he was getting his own story, and had a great time learning more about him.
One of the biggest hurdles the two characters face in the novel is getting over their age difference. Griffin is in his early thirties and Cosy is 22, and unlike other books I've read where the characters mention it once and get over it, Cosy and Griffin acknowledge their age difference and everything that goes along with it. Hunting did a good job portraying the age difference, she didn't romanticize it or blow it off. Instead the characters had discussions on their age difference, and they actually struggled with it when deciding if it was worth pursuing a relationship despite the difference.
"Talk to me. Fall apart on me. Show me your weakness, so I can give you my strength."
Hunting is such a great writer and writes amazing stories, and this one was no exception. Making Up was such a quick, fun read, and I could not put it down until I finished. Another thing Hunting did really well in this novel is writing angst. I'm usually not a huge fan of super angsty books, but there was so much groveling in the novel and I. Was. Here. For. It.
My one complaint is that I wish as readers we could see more of Cosy and Griffin's relationship around other people. Most of the story felt like it was in a vacuum, and it was basically only the two of them. They had to deal with other people's judgmental looks because of their age difference, but they really didn't interact with many people in the novel.
I'm so glad I have the next book in the series because I need to read more about this group of characters!
I have enjoyed this series to date and Making Up did not disappoint!
Cosy works at an adult entertainment store. Griffin's family owns hotels. They are the most unlikely pair yet they work!
These two have to hurdle through obstacles that pop up from each other's lives. Sometimes it's comical and other times it's heartbreaking. It's as though the powers that be are telling them they aren't suited for each other.
The chemistry between these two is incredibly steamy!
If you like yours stories hot, steamy, mixed with angst and some humor on the side, this is for you!
Absolutely a hilarious and give you all the feels read that will have you glued too your kindle kindle. Cozy and Griffin together are a match made in heaven and I love every time they are together. Another amazing 5 star read everyone truly must one click. Amazing story with amazing characters that will have you hooked.
Linda's Book Obsession Reviews " Making Up" by Helena Hunting, MacMillan, July 16, 2019
Helena Hunting, Author of "Making Up" has written a Contemporary Romance with some Humor, and lots of steamy sex. The timeline for this story is in mostly in the present and goes to the past or future when it pertains to the events or characters in the story. The premise of the story is boy meets girl, girl meets boy in the sex store where she works selling sex toys. There is a discrepancy between the ages, experience and wealth. The author describes the characters as fun-loving, quirky, and flawed. Most are very likable characters.
Cosy is working in a sex store, while she goes to school, and travels. Griffin is an extremely wealthy businessman who works in the family business. Chosen by his friends to get favors for a bachelor party he happens to go to the store where Cosy works. Of course, there is off the chart chemistry and difficult situations that make the reader wonder if this is a relationship that could work out. Is their chemistry enough? There are some witty situations that cause more problems. Is it true that one can make up after a difficult time??
This is a cute and entertaining read that I recommend for those readers who enjoy a steamy story.
Making Up is all kinds of sassy sweetness. Cosy (I am still adjusting to her unique name) is a quirky woman who definitely owns her name. Sassy and very headstrong, Cosy is going to make a great addition to the Mills wives' club...if she get through this book!
Its titled Making Up for a reason and it's a doozy! Griffin is very much a Mills man. Not the Armstrong kind, the Lexington, Bancroft, and Lincoln kind. He's grade A man. Highly recommended with no additives and no preservatives- just fantastic genetics!
I had a blast getting uncomfortable with Griffin. I feel he should avoid terrible themed bachelor parties in the future though because...complicated. 😘
These two are all kinds of awkward, gameless sweetness. (Its totally a thing!) They will make beautiful world traveling, yet homebodies babies and live happily ever after out of their cars... of course it won't be a Tesla.
Enjoy the fourth installment of the highly entertaining Shacking Up series. I can't imagine that you find it anything less than an absolute blast!

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.
Having devoured the first 3 books of the Shacking Up series months ago I pounced on the opportunity to read Making Up. When reading a book from Helena Hunting I have come to expect a few things.
1) I am going to laugh, a lot.
2) There will probably be some drama, bad decisions or misunderstandings
3) When the couple gets together the sparks will fly.
Cosy and Griffin are fantastic characters independently and when they are together. Cosy's job, attitude towards life and level of experience (or lack there of) makes her a firecracker who is a little unpredictable. Griffin is clearly outside of his comfort zone in pursuing Cosy, but there is something so addicting in his awkwardness and nerves when it comes to her.
I have read most of Helena Hunting's books and found this one to be relatively tame in terms of adult content, but still smokin' hot. I couldn't put this book down, I read until 3 in the morning and have no regrets.
Making Up by Helena Hunting is everything you need in an EXCELLENT book! Quirky, sexy and with sexual tension & chemistry like nothing you’ve ever seen before, Cosy and Griffin will grab your heart from page one!
Cosy and Griffin are hands down one of my most favorite HH couples. From their hilarious first meeting to the very last page, I was completely smitten with this couple. Fun, great banter, sexiness and chemistry that just jumps off the pages, Making Up is one of Helena’s best. I enjoyed getting to see the rest of the Mills Brothers and that devil Armstrong as well. I loved the slow burn between Cosy and Griffin and the angst? GAH!!! Perfection <3
I highly recommend Making Up as well as the entire Shacking Up series!!
Making Up is book four in the Shacking Up series by Helena Hunting. It's a contemporary romance sprinkled with rom-com and drama. Cosy works at a Sex Shop and is an absolute hoot. Seriously, the first encounter when she meets Griffin is laugh out loud funny. Griffin is awkward, sweet and hot and they could not be more opposite from one another. Where Griffen is older (thirty to her twenty) and a little more responsible, Cosy is a sparkly, vivacious, zest for life kind of person with a nomadic soul. She's still in college because she loves to travel and why do it when you're too old to enjoy it! Griffin is trying to get over a cheating ex-fiancee and Cosy is the first person that makes him feel alive.
While the age gap between puts Cosy off at first, their attraction makes her take a chance on a casual relationship. They're both wary over starting a long time relationship and ease into it which I freaking LOVED. Griffin takes his time to get to know Cosy and they don't immediately jump into sex and rush anything. Total swoon for Griffin. I love that their relationship is a slow burn before total fireworks.
I love Helena and her writing but I felt the drama was a little too much at times. Everytime I thought that they'd finally be able to be together, another obstacle was thrown at them and I was so badly routing for them and just wanted them to be HEA already. Oh man, super drama. And that ex-fiancee of his is other level witch with a capital B. Super villian status for that chick. But after all is said and done, I was happy with the characters and can't wait to read more.
I devoured this 5 star story by a camp fire on a nice summer night. This captivating story was amazing.
Griffin meets Cosy in a sex store where she works. He’s the guy with an expensive suit and she’s the girl who’s putting herself through college by working there. They say opposites attract.
I just enjoyed this funny, refreshing story. These characters were perfectly created to fit this storyline. The bantering between these 2 was comical. It’s an highly entertaining and addicting story. Bottomline this is a must read.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Making Up was an amazing, hilarious rom-com read. This book is the summer must read of 2019.
Griffin Mills is the oldest Mills's brother and he is in Las Vegas for an extended business trip after a bad breakup. While in Vegas he draws the short straw and has to pay a visit to a adult sex toy store to pick up somethings for a bachelor party. Little does Griffin know that this trip to the adult sex shop will change everything. While in the adult toy stop Griffin runs in to Cosy Felton.
Cosy is a college student who is working part time in an adult toy store. She is all to willing to help Griffin find all of the things. Making Griffin uncomfortable is the highlight of Cosy day, since she knows that she will never see him again after he makes his purchases. That however all changes when Griffin pays the store another visit, but this times its for Cosy. This is when the fireworks start.
The chemistry between Griffin and Cosy is absolutely amazing. These 2 were just burning up my kindle. Cosy who is younger than Griffin and I was actually shocked by her being so mature and willing facing anything that comes at her. Griffin, he is an alpha all the way but does know when to back down and when you need to pull up his pants and talk things out.
"Fall apart on me, show me your weakness so I can give you my strength."
