This book was 100% not for me. I got about 70% of the way through and then had to put it down. I didn't really enjoy the characters and felt both Cosy and Griffin were very immature for their age.
Making Up was a fun, quick and sexy age gap romance. I enjoyed Cosy and Griffin’s romance, even if Cosy was a little much for me at times. While I liked them together, I wondered WHY they were together. They didn't have much in common and, though they had oodles of chemistry, I struggled with them a bit as a couple at times. The age gap led to some drama I wasn't a huge fan of, but overall it was a good read.
If it's a new book by Helena Hunting, you can be sure I'll be reading it. With characters that I already want to know? It goes to the top of my TBR! Making Up was no different and I read it in one day, it's how good it is. Helena has the gift to get the reader's attention from the first page and it's no different with this one. Who can put down a book that starts in a sex shop with a shy hero? Not me!

I love Helena Hunting’s humor, so I was more than a little excited to read Making Up. I have read the whole Shacking Up Series, but it’s been over a year since the last in the series, I Flipping Love You, and quite honestly, I didn’t remember how it tied into the others until the end, and it didn’t matter at all.
We started by meeting the adorably sassy Cosy who is working in a sex toy shop to help finance her college. She knows all the tricks to sell the most toys. So when a gorgeous, suited man walks in, completely embarrassed and overwhelmed, Cosy was all too eager to help him out.
"Dear sweet Jesus on a cloud of marshmallows, It’s a good thing clits don’t react like penises, otherwise mine would be hanging out of the bottom of my shorts with excitement."
Griffin Mills is in Vegas on a temporary assignment scouting hotel locations. He drew the short straw and had to buy some gag gifts for a friend’s bachelor party. Completely mortified to go to a sex toy store, he had no idea that he would be walking out with a new obsession, Cosy.
“It’s not a line, Cosy. If I had a checklist with boxes to tick off, you would be the person who appeared at the end of the quiz as my perfect match.”
I loved the way they met. I even liked that he was 11 years older than her. Cosy was jaded and innocent at the same time, and I enjoyed her inner voice. But Making Up felt like it was a great book until someone got their hands on it and insisted Helena add a few more plot points to make it angstier. There was a twist thrown in that had no place and no reason and really made the book go south from there for me. There was just too much manufactured angst for me.
Don’t get me wrong. I still love Helena’s humor.

I still love the super HOT sex scenes. And I still love the romance. There was just a little too much bullsh*t along the way.
"Fall apart on me. Show me your weakness, so I can give you my strength."
Likes:
•Loved the flirty banter!
•Her inner voice made me love her, especially in the beginning.
•The fun way they met.
•The awkward situations.
•You didn’t have to remember the other books to enjoy this.
•Helena’s raunchy humor.
•HOT!!!
•I liked the age gap.
Dislikes:
•The twist really turned me off.
•Too many obstacles for this couple.
•It almost felt like someone told her to add the twist after the story was written.
The Down & Dirty:
Making Up by Helena Hunting still had her trademark raunchy humor and hot sex with romance. I loved the first half of the book so much, but the couple ended up having so many obstacles to overcome that just felt manufactured, and one, in particular, felt like an afterthought that totally changed the book for me for no reason. I still love Helena’s style, and I look forward to reading Handle with Care. I still recommend Making Up. I really enjoyed the whole read, but it became a little too YA/NA for me with all the angst.

Making Up is a sexy and sweet romance. The perfect summer read.
Cosy Felton, a twenty-two year old college student working part-time at an adult store in Las Vegas, is a free spirit all about new experiences and adventures. However, everything flies out the window when the hottest guy she's ever laid eyes on walks into her store looking for gag gifts for a friend's bachelor party, much to his discomfort.
Griffin Mills resides in New York, partaking in his family owned business in the hotel industry. Now single, after going through a recent break up, he arrives in Las Vegas in part for business but also to see the gorgeous woman he can't quite get his mind off of. Unable to deny their instant attraction, they decide to see how things go with a date, unable to predict where it will lead them.
Making Up, book four in the Shaking Up series, is a fantastic new romantic comedy by Helena Hunting. Packed with humour, drama, laugh out loud moments, signature banter, and a passionate romance, this book begs to be read and enjoyed throughly.
From beginning to end, this book was so wondrously crafted with an entertaining story, charismatic characters, explosive chemistry, and a whirlwind romance that will give you all the feels. There were some substantial conflicts that impacted the characters, that truthfully felt authentic to this story, and though this puts a sort of speed bump in Cosy and Griffin's relationship for a time being it does not prevent a HEA from occurring. Cosy and Griffin's relationship had me grinning ear to ear multiple times throughout the book - they are just that darn cute!
With that being said, I believe at this point it is absurdly clear that I absolutely adored Cosy and Griffin's characters and relationship with one another. Cosy had such a refreshing personality and, though young in age, she was exactly what Griffin needed. Someone vibrant, open, fun, indifferent to what others thought about her, confident, and overall a sunny person. She was a heroine I could definitely see myself rallying behind (and partying with). Griffin's personality had a uniqueness to it, he was possessive, caring, and vulnerable at times. It made his character well rounded and that much more enjoyable to read. They're a couple that just seemingly clicked well together.
Overall, this is an easy recommendation to make for anyone who loves light, entertaining, sweet, and delightfully sassy romance books. A truly great 5 star read!
Cosy and Griffin were a hilarious couple to me and I enjoyed them immensely. They had that chemistry that we all wish for and immediately I knew that Helena Hunting had another five-star read on her hands. This was an amazing experience that had the reader ( which is me) seeing the excitement of love and hilarity between two people that aren't that similar. It was refreshing and different. It threw me back to the early days of Susan Mallery and I loved this.
I enjoyed this hilarious and steamy read. Cosy and Griffin are great together. The banter between them is witty and entertaining. I liked that Cosy was whip smart and working to put herself through college, and was at the top of her class. Unlike her sister, Cosy was not after Griffin’s money. This was refreshing. She was comfortable with herself and did not want anyone to change her. But her youth did show itself in how she handled certain situations. A complication arising from Griffin’s past relationship with a truly horrible woman, puts his relationship with Cosy in turmoil. You will have to pick this one up to find out if Cosy is willing to MAKE UP with Griffin one more time.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for my gifted copy.
Cost and Griffin swoon!!!!! This series is soooo good!! Absolutely loving this newest addition to the Shacking Up World!
The Mills Brothers I just cant get enough!! I just want to escape into their world! I could read these books endlessly!
Thank you Netgalley for an advance copy for my honest review!
The fourth book in the Shacking Up series. Griffin gets his lovestory. It's funny and sweet. I'm not usually into the virgin trope but I didn't mind. It was believable in this book. I loved it from the first chapter until the epilogue. I like that it's part of a series where you met other characters in previous books. It makes you want to reread them.

Making Up by Helena Hunting was a fun read and I enjoyed reading it but it just wasn't one of my favourite book by her.
Cosy and Griffin's story is actually fun and makes for an entertaining read.
I'm still on the fence about these two characters though. I'm not sure I love either of them. There is an age gap between them and sometimes it's glaring obvious especially when it comes to Cosy's dramatic conclusions about things which could have been easily solved by just communicating. I think that is one thing that made me not enjoy this book as much as her other books i.e, the drama. It was so over the top that I felt like I needed a breather.
Overall, Helena Hunting's Making Up was an okay-ash read that isn't awesome but isn't bad either.
4.5 star
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, surprises, and heartache.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Shacking Up (Shacking Up, #1)
Getting Down (Shacking Up, #1.5)
Hooking Up (Shacking Up, #2)
I Flipping Love You (Shacking Up #3)
This is Cosy and Griffin’s story. Cosy works at an adult toy store. When Griffin comes in with a list of items she knows just how to help him out. The chemistry is off the charts, but he lives far from her. On the other hand, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right? Can these two figure out what they are doing before he has to head back home? Or will they lose out on a chance to be together when life gets in the way.
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book.
The story follows the budding relationship of a couple, who on paper seem like they should not work. Griffin I found to be endearing and down to earth. Cosy was funny and for a 22yr old, very sure of herself and the life path she wanted to be on. Their romance was sweet and progressed really organically making it believable. There were a few plot twists that I was not expecting, but I guess thats the point!! Overall I enjoyed this book it was a fun, light read with lots of funny moments. Look forward to reading more books in this series. 4⭐/5

So I rarely put quotes in my reviews but let me put a little something here and if you absolutely lose your marbles.. pick up the book!
It’s a good thing clits don’t react like penises otherwise mine would be hanging out of the bottom of my shorts with excitement
Do I have your attention?
Love sucks balls. Big huge smelly goat balls
How about now?
This book is hilarious! Laugh out loud in public alone and be judged funny. I will admit I read book 1 and then book 4.. so I did it backwards but they really are good as standalones. The characters names are a tad redic.. I mean who names someone Cosy? I loved their 10 year age gap personally because of the chemistry they share. They actually fell in love without the double headed dildo.. or maybe because of it. Their drama was like so rude and out of hand like come on could you give these two like 5 minutes without end of the world drama hahah.
This was my first read by Helena Hunting. I really enjoyed this book! The plot was good and loved how everything wrapped up!
This book had me in stitches because I loved Cosy’s personality. She and Griffin met when he came into her workplace looking for Bachelor party gifts and their chemistry was off the charts. There was a little bit of an age gap but these two fit together because Cosy wasn’t your typical college student. Ms. Hunting writes amazing books and each one has me laughing out loud due to her fun, entertaining heroines. Can’t wait to see what she writes next.
I love a good age gap romance and Helena Hunting has delivered in spades. This whole series has been impressive and I've adored each book as it's come out. Griffin and Cosy's story is sure to please all of Hunting's fans and in general, fans of contemporary romance and romcom. While this book is part of a series, it does stand alone very well. If you want the whole reading experience of the series then start from the beginning.
Griffin and Cosy's meet cute is pretty funny and the insta crush (not love!) is so darn sweet. When Griffin came back to the store for her, I swooned so hard. The evidence of their age gap is fairly apparent in their personalities. Griffin is a bit tight laced and a rule follower, very dedicated to his career. But Cosy's warmth and charm draw him in and it's obvious these two NEED each other. They balance out very nicely and seeing a bit of Griffin's bad boy come out was definitely sexy.
The sexy times are fantastic, the emotional moments balance out the humor nicely and all around this was just a very pleasant read. Cosy especially is a fantastic heroine. I also adored her sister and hope to see more of her in the future.
Whether it be an emotional angst-fest or an over the top rom-com, Helena Hunting can always be counted on for a story that engages and entertains the reader, and Making Up, the latest in her Shacking Up series, is no exception.
From an impossibly ridiculous meet-cute to bedroom scenes that had me fanning myself, Helena Hunting kept me wrapped up in this story from start to finish. This may be my favorite of the series so far.
Making Up was, in a word, FUN. A fun, easy read that was a wonderful escape from real life. Griffin was that perfect swoony leading man, one who worked his way into my heart early and kept me rooting for him the whole time. A genuine good guy, I love how he loved Cosy, (even before he knew he loved her) and l adored the lengths he was willing to go to to make her happy.
Cosy was sweet and adorable and admirable, and I wanted, no needed, her to be happy. A hard worker, even at her young age, she had a solid head on her shoulders. I loved that she wasn’t overly dramatic and kept Griffin on his toes.
Helena made these two work hard for their HEA, but to me, it was worth every mile of the journey.
From the awkward and funny first encounter, Making Up is a roller coaster ride of drama, heat & adventure. Cosy the free spirited college student and Griffin the sexy older executive shouldn’t make sense, but together they just fit. Seeing how sweet & attentive Griffin is makes him one of Helena Hunting’s most endearing heroes. Looking forward to reading cousin/best friend Lincoln’s story next.
Cosy Felton is almost done with school and ready for her next adventure. She's 22, living in Las Vegas and about to get her degree in hotel management. Currently, though, she is working at a sex toy shop to help with her bills and when Griffin Mills walks in, she can tell he is a fish out of water. Griffin drew the short straw when he has to go and buy toys for his friend's bachelor party, but he doesn't mind when he sees Cosy. Cosy is not interested in dating a customer, but this customer is insanely good looking and easy to talk. Griffin isn't in town for long, so this will just be fling, or will it?
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this title.
I instantly fell in love with this book. It grabbed me right from the start and it didn't let me go. I had to find out what was going to happen next. You never knew what was going to happen next. Just when you think that Cosy and Griffin had found their stride, there is something to throw a wrench in their plans.
I liked these characters. They seemed like people I would know in my real life. Although, I don't think I would know too many billionaires. Cosy seems like a girls girl and someone I would want to be friends with. I'm not sure about her sister though.
Overall I really liked this book. And I can't wait to read more books in this series. Even though this is a series, each book is a stand alone. I've read one other, I Flipping Love You and you can read that review if you click on the title.
Happy Reading!!
Making Up is book #4 in the Shacking Up series by the talented Helena Hunting.
I love this series! Making Up was a great addition to an already incredibly fun, sexy series.
Cosy and Griffin. Oh Cosy and Griffin how I loved you. Cosy is working in an adult toy store where Griffin goes to buy a long list of items for a bachelor party. The opening scene with the two characters was hilarious and a great way to start the book. Griffin is older than Cosy and has some issues but I loved reading a male character that didn't have his life all put together.
Helena knows how to write a fun, steamy romance and I will read anything she releases.
I received an advance readers copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
