I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was asked to read this book and I did not know that it was the 8th book in a series. I think this is a wonderful world and the characters just pull you in and they want you to experience their journey and lives with them. That is the impression that I got from this book. The Lunar Court is a Fae Court that holds power over the wolves. Cosette has feelings and needs that she wants from Chris. He makes her feels so many things and then they come for her and Eli has to tell Chris that she is in trouble. I don't want to say too much this story has to be experienced.

always great to jump back into this series, a struggle a bit to remember at first but quiet easy for me to get back into it. The Fae aspect always intrigued me. And while I enjoyed this I think I want to do a full re read of the series from the very start.

I will read again though!

Title: Lunar Court
Author: Aileen Erin
Genre: YA/ paranormal
Rating: 4 out of 5

Chris is the funniest, sweetest boy Cosette’s ever met. Despite the trauma he’s suffered, he still manages to brighten up everyone around him—even when he’s fighting a chapel full of demons. He’s exactly what Cosette needs in her life. He’s also a werewolf—and she’s from the Lunar Court, the only fey court with control over the werewolves, so she knows they can’t be together.

But when Chris goes missing, Cosette will do anything to find him and bring him home safely. Even if they can’t be together, she wants him safe and happy. She has no safety in her own life—not with assassins trying to kill her at every step and her mother trying to force her into marrying—but she wants Chris to have it. She finds Chris in the darkest of fey courts, where the truth is twisted and she can trust no one. It will take an archon to keep the two of them safe—and even that might not be enough to make sure everyone gets out alive.

I think I read the first two Alpha Girl books a few years back and enjoyed them but got distracted by something else. I need to go back and catch up. Lunar Court was a solid read, and I love the world here, combining my favorite creatures in intriguing ways. A solid, entertaining read!

Lunar Court is Aileen Erin’s newest novel, the eighth book in the Alpha Girl series.

I as many others has gotten this ARC from Netgally! yay!
Also, i didn't know this was a series before...i added it on GR? i think?
But i also believe this is ok to read as a standalone so to speak since we get information here and there, throughout the book.
Sometimes this book had me groaning and wanting to just nope the hell out, it was alot of hate going on here, hate for her mother, hate for the lunar court hate hate and being pissed off... But then she became happy...and i became happy, you feel me?
I kinda fell in love with Christopher, he was just a fresh breathe of air. Most guys in these kind of series are assholes and just meh. He was just adorable and determinded.

Plus Eli and Van were fun to 'be around' so to speak C: I think that Van also deserve his happy ending and i hope that it will happend for him in the future! I shall look for the next installment!

Best paranormal YA book of the summer! This is my first Alpha Girls book and I really enjoyed the "he said, she said" aspect with each chapter. Both characters were so richly developed and you don't have to know the back story to enjoy or understand what is going on. Aileen Erin does an excellent job of set the scene and taking this story all the way through. I was happy and sad, excited and enraged. It was excellently written and enticed me to not only look up the other stories from this series but to also download the first so I can know the complete story.

First off - I had no idea this was the 8th book in a series!

This book is about Cosette, a Fey Princess and Chris, a werewolf.
It started slow and some characters were talked about but didn’t make an appearance. The worlds weren’t discribed fully (as this is the 8th book, I’m guessing its a been explained by now) so it was a bit hard to understand where every court is and what it’s purpose is, etc.

There are a lot of flashbacks regarding Cosette and Chris as these might have happened in other books.
It was a slow read still at 60% but only started getting into the action at around 80%.

To me a story with that much danger mentioned (Cosette was never really in danger because that was always immediately taken care of) I expected more “near death” danger stuff.
I won’t be going back to read the first 7 books of this series.

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

This world is wonderfully engaging. I am in love with all the characters for different reasons. In this book we get to see behind the scenes with Chris and Cosette.

Along the way (and, really, you should start from the beginning), we have seen little hints and teases about Chris and Cosette. Cosette is a secret powerhouse of sorts. She likes to pretend she has less power than she does, but that's kind of the way of life at her court. Her mother is... a nightmare. We end up learning more about her through this book, but it is essentially all bad. Now that Cosette has to go back there, following the events of the previous book, she's forced to fight for her life on a regular basis, or marry someone she doesn't love.

Chris might have even more secrets than Cosette. We learn just oodles and oodles about his past and all the baggage he has accumulated along the way. With each chapter, I fell more and more in love with him. Cosette is super lucky because Chris's super contained wolf has determined that she is his mate. So, this story ends up following Cosette, her BFF/surrogate father/guard, and Chris while they all try to keep themselves and each other alive.

It should really be easy, because Chris and Cosette love each other. Unfortunately, Cosette lives in the Lunar Court, and if Chris came there he would become a slave to their power. Chris (and some divine intervention) push him towards some shady characters who may or may not be able to sever his lunar tie (freeing him to be with Cosette). It is, of course, never that easy. There's so many twists and turns, but we do eventually get there for these two wonderful folks. I was sad to see this one end because Chris is just the best!

Even though this was my first of the Alpha Girl series I didn't feel lost. Chris and Cosette's story was pretty easy to read as a standalone book. I liked that Cosette has a father figure, Van, that stood watch over her during the book. The story was steady paced and kept me interested throughout. It also made me really want to read the previous books in the series.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think this one was my favorite yet!!! How do they just keep getting better???

Cosette is a fey princess--a flaming-sword wielding, kick butt and take names later kind of fey princess, who wants nothing to do with the fey Lunar Court but is bound to it by blood. Chris is a werewolf with a battered childhood. Controlled by the moon, he can't be bound to the Lunar Court without becoming a slave.

They can't be together, but they can't deny their feelings. So when an Archon tells Chris there might be a way to break his lunar tie, Chris enters the fey Court of Gales, an underground world of double-talk and corruption that reminds him far too much of his own troubled past. He would do anything for Cosette. Anything. But that's easy to say when you don't know what "anything" might mean...

I freaking loved this book. I've loved every book in the series, and this spinoff that gives two of my favorite characters their own story made me SO HAPPY!!! My FAVORITE things are Chris and Cosette themselves, but another thing I loved about it is the view into the fey courts. We've seen so little of the fey way of life throughout the series--just glimpses where the fey interacted with the wolves--and I loved getting a real introduction to that part of Aileen Erin's supernatural world.

This is a HIGHLY SATISFYING slump-buster of a read. If you haven't read the series, the first few wolf books give you some background into how the wolf stuff works in this world, but this one also works as a standalone if you're more into fey magic than werewolves.

P.S. In the back of the book, Aileen Erin asks readers about future releases 2021 and beyond. I'd like an Eli book please. 6 out of 5 stars for Eli. (No, I am not biased. Okay, yes, I might be biased.)

FULL DISCLOSURE: I had NO IDEA that this was the 8th book in this series. NONE!!! I saw the cover and description and was like, "heck yeah, I wanna read this!" Thank goodness the author didn't make me feel like I missed...EVERYTHING...I actually followed along really well and enjoyed this!!! Please keep this in mind when you read my review...I'm pretty sure my opinion on characters will be different than others.

Chris is a werewolf. Ok, obviously there's more to that statement. He's a damaged werewolf. He was beaten, treated like absolute poo by his pack and pretty much left for dead. Until he was rescued by Cosette and Van. After roaming the forest, hiding and trying to come to terms with his wolf, he found himself extremely comfortable around Cosette more so than any other being. But was that because he's a werewolf and she's a Fey from the Lunar Court, or because there is true chemistry between them?

Cosette is technically a princess of the Lunar Court. And although most people know what she is, she's more than that. Acting as a spy for her Queen/Mother for decades has provided more information about the other "beings" than she could count, but after making deals, she's can't exactly do much about a few of them. That is until her mother gives her an ultimatum. Knowing her time is running out, it's time to find a husband before her mother chooses one for her. Too bad Chris isn't an option....or is he?

I'm not gonna lie, there were times when I was a little bit confused and KNEW that there had to of been more to the story, but then I remembered I've missed SEVEN BOOKS!!! LOL

I really enjoyed this one. Learning about how Chris and Cosette met and fell for each other was super sweet. Although following the different Fey and their "ways" was a bit confusing, I still found it fascinating. I was completely pulled in to this story and couldn't get enough. I'm actually a little mad at myself because I feel like I can't go back and read the previous books, but that doesn't mean I won't try. :)

Last summer I read and weirdly enjoyed Aileen Erin's Alpha Girl series, so when I had an opportunity to read the latest installment in that series as an ARC, I took it, despite the fact that I rarely read ARCs (way more pressure/commitment than I'm usually interested in).

So yes, these are werewolf books. I don't do a lot of paranormal reading because most of it tends to be too angsty/sexy/plain creepy, but sometimes you find a series that works, and I feel that way about Alpha Girl. I really like the characters and the world-building. I reread the series to work my way back into Lunar Court, and found myself liking Tessa and her friends all over again. The first five books are basically all one big story - while they do a good job of having each book wrap up some small lines, the overarching plot continues throughout and is done really well. From there, while the books are still closely connected, each one reads more individually.

In Lunar Court the story focuses on Chris and Cosette. Chris is a werewolf, and has been one of my favorite characters throughout the entire series. Cosette is fey, an area of world-building that Erin has been slowly developing throughout the last few books, especially in Shattered Pack, where we learned a lot more about how their culture works. There are a lot of obstacles between Chris and Cosette becoming a couple, and overall this book was a lot more romance-focused than the earlier books. As such, there wasn't quite as much action.

My favorite part about this book was the dual POV. The rest of the books in the series have had a single POV, which worked for what was happening in them, but being able to know what was happening with both Chris and Cosette, since they spend a lot of the book apart, really worked here. I'm on Erin's mailing list, and she's mentioned that she enjoyed the dual POV so much that she's thinking of using it for her next book in the series as well, so hopefully she sticks with it.

Overall, this was a 3.5* read for me, which is slightly below the 4* average I would give the series as a whole. The pacing felt slower in this story - it didn't quite drag, but some things definitely felt repetitive. It also had a darker tone than earlier books, with themes of long-term physical and emotional abuse and manipulation. There are still way more f-bombs in these books than I find necessary - one of my biggest complaints about this series as a whole. Finally, while overall this series has done pretty well skirting around the religious aspect of paranormal, the involvement of archons in this story (who aren't angels except they kind of basically are angels??) meant that this story was edging over the line of theological complications that made me more uncomfortable than the earlier books' theme of "don't mess with demons."

Still, the story itself is well done. I really like Chris and Cosette and totally ship them. I enjoyed watching them overcome the obstacles so that they could be together. Hopefully Erin continues this series, as there are still a lot of characters to explore. If you're looking for some slightly-angsty paranormal, I totally recommend this series.

I originally marked the Lunar Court as a DNF because it felt like I missed too much in the previous books to continue it. I planned on reading the rest of the series first and then coming back to the lunar court. However, I got a nagging feeling that I should keep going after posting my original review and I'm so glad I did. The novel picked up its pace and I could not put it down from that point on. The story deepens and the characters become more intense. The author began to weave in flashbacks to help fill in enough to keep the reader from becoming lost. I realized after you just has to read far enough into the novel for all the pieces to add up and it's worth the way the slow beginning had build up.

I still believe it would be better to read the series in order but the Lunar Court is able to be read as a standalone after all. I can't wait to check out the rest of the novels. I also recommend giving it a good chance to get into the story deeper if you choose to read it as a standalone.

I received an advanced copy through netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book early for review purposes. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.*

I really enjoyed the depth of the characters. The world building was a little lacking for me however. This might have not been the case however if I had not started with book eight. Even so this is a great stand alone story.

If you like star-crossed lovers then this is a great pick for you. Stuck in a love that can never work in a world that will never allow them to coexist. Set in a world of Werewolves and Fae.

Can there be true love when one has the power to control the other?

I want to thank Netgalley for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book.
I didn’t realise this was the 8th in the series I haven’t read the other books.
However i actually really liked this book. It was a bit slow to start but when it picked up it was amazing!
I loved the characters and the relationships they had with each other.
I’ll defiantly be picking up the other books in this series.

3 stars

A fast fun read. This was my first foray into this world and I have been inspired to go back and start from the beginning, I'm sure fans of the series will love it.

Man, I wasn't sure how I felt about Chris and Cosette. We've been seeing the push and pull between them for a while, but Fey and Fey Courts? I was wrong. LOVED this story. Completely ripped my heart out at one point. But good story. Ready for the next one.

I requested this e-arc being unaware that Lunar Court was actually a part of the Alpha Girl series; the number eight installment to be exact. I was lucky enough the book could be read as a standalone without making me feel lost or overwhelmed by the events that took place in its predecessors.

The story follows our two main characters, Christopher and Cosette. Christopher is a werewolf with a childhood full of violence that still haunts him. Cosette is the fey who saved his life many years ago. She had survived numerous assassination attempts as a child and knows how it is to live a dangerous life. As time passes, the two of them become friends trying to heal each other, having this deep understanding of who the other truly is. When the first seeds of love begin to spawn, they know they can’t be together. Cosette is the princess of Lunar Court and must return back to her world due to her mother’s wishes. The Lunar court can control the Moon and werewolves are tied to it. As a result, they are as good as slaves there, so Christopher being at her side in the fey world is out of the question. The story takes up from here and progresses.

Lunar Court has one of my favorite tropes: two lovers who can’t be together because of obstacles difficult to overcome. I will start with the best element of the book and proceed with what didn’t work for me.

The characters were really well fleshed out and their personalities were shining through the story. From this double POV we got to know the fierce warrior, Cosette, with her hard exterior but soft heart and the funny sweet Christopher with his troubled–but still–optimistic soul. The passages of Christopher contained some cursing that enhanced his casualness and friendly personality while Cosette’s were more emotional and full of grief. The flashbacks were really interesting, adding depth to their relationship as friends and later as a potential couple. Christopher’s past was horrible and it was nearly impossible not to care about him after reading all the things he had gone through by the hands of his pack. I really was rooting for him from the first mention of his abuse. He deserved to be happy not only because he had been violated but because, despite that, he was a good person helping others and trying to put a smile on their faces.

While the characters were the strongest point of this book, the plot and the pacing were not. Nothing really was happening until we hit the 80% point. Before that, we got repetitions and repetitions of internal thoughts and events that happened in the past. I got tired at some point reading about information I already got the first time around. Also, I didn’t feel my protagonists being in danger when they were in dangerous situations. The stakes were not high enough and from this kind of story, I expected them to be. The magic system wasn’t impressive, as well, and it reminded me a lot of other books with supernatural themes.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book and I got to know this memorable, full of chemistry couple. The easy-to-follow writing, the character development and the mention of some past events intrigue me to read the other ones too.

This e-arc was provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
