Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hmmm while I am a huge Danielle Steel fan and read all her books,
I found this book to be very interesting and chilling at the same time.
I didn't really know what Munchausen by proxy is but I sure do now.
I really tried to like or even feel sorry for the protagonist but couldn't.
It was a quick read as I read in 2 days.
I have literally read every Danielle Steel book ever written... and I have no plans of stopping! I particularly liked the topic that was covered in this book. This was, as usual, a quick read, but was enjoyable. The book gives you an in-depth look at a controversial topic, one that many have little knowledge of. I could make some predictions as I was reading... some were correct and some were not. I feel the author did a good job on this book!
A very good and different book by Danielle Steel. A disturbing and dark read of someone with Munchausen by proxy illness. I would definitely recommend. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.
The Dark Side is a chilling read. Zoe was a happy little girl before her younger sister died from cancer. Her parents became absorbed in their own loss and ignored her. Zoe was the perfect child but no one noticed and she became vitally warped, but the symptoms were masked for years. Eventually Zoe begins her own family and her husband notices how much his wife has changed. Zoe is off her rocker, being overly protective, neurotic, and paranoid. Her young daughter has more mishaps than adults. Until someone notices and then the ugly truth is revealed. Zoe is a truly reprehensible character. This was Steel's usual comfortable read. It's menacing, and uncomfortable.
The Dark Side is an intense book, but a good read. While I figured out the plot line early on, I still really enjoy this novel.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to read and review!
Wow! What a book ! So many ups and downs made this a page turner. It was dark, but enjoyable. I will recommend this book to any patron.
After the first couple of chapters I knew what was going to happen in this book. Interesting look into the Munchausen by proxy illness.
