I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Don't Ever Tell by Lucy Dawson is an addictive psychological thriller that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The storyline is clever, with plenty of twists and turns that make it difficult to put down. While it may not have the most groundbreaking plot, it is still thoroughly enjoyable and manages to keep you hooked. The pacing is a bit slow at times, but this is essential for the gradual and deliberate unfolding of the story. Dawson takes her time to reveal crucial details, creating an atmosphere of tension and anticipation that builds throughout the book. The slow burn of the narrative makes the eventual revelations all the more satisfying. Overall, Don't Ever Tell is an engaging, well-crafted thriller that fans of the genre will appreciate. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating read.
Intriguing, gripping, thrilling. There are so many words that can be used to promote this book. Page-turner, all-nighter.....you pick. Just be sure to pick it up & start reading it!!
This is my fourth book by this author and I have always loved the way she could keep me on the edge for my seat. I was looking forward to get immersed in this story.
The prologue is super promising. I felt anxious to find out what was going to happen and I sat back, ready for the action.
Would you tell someone when you are not happy anymore and try and get the wagon back on the rails or are you rather someone who starts scheming and figure out the perfect revenge?
I, for one, would find myself in the first group. Talking often is the best solution. Both parties have the change to speak their mind and together you can build bridges. Tris seems to be a member of this group too, well let’s say eventually. But in which group can we put Charlotte…?
So who takes revenge on who and who gains the most?
For me personally the story fell a bit flat after this great prologue. I was waiting for the suspense and the action, but good things come to those who wait and I was rewarded for my patience. The plot was a total surprise to me and I loved it. I never saw that coming and now, a few hours later, there are still unanswered questions. Do I mind? Yes and no. Yes, because I would love to know what the author had in mind. No, because now I can create my own outcome. 😊
I adored the plot although the road to the revelations was maybe a bit too long. 4 stars
Thank you
Good book.
5 star book.

Oh, my goodness! Wow! What an amazing book. One of the best thrillers I've ever read. So many twists and turns from start to finish it will keep you guessing. Read it now!
OMG! I literally could not put this down - I was so intrigued by the whats and the whys! A fantastic holiday read!
This was definitely a “What in the heck am I reading” kinda book. It was like reading one of those choose a possible direction kind of book because there were two very different and both shocking outcomes that the author could have chosen to go with. Had the author done both, I would have for sure been above and beyond shook but it would have made the ending even more shocking than it was.
In this fast paced psychological thriller; we meet Charlotte, a woman seemingly stuck in a dead end marriage with a man (Tris) whose seemingly the biggest jerk on the planet. They have two small children and while Charlotte, a writer, easily garners the sympathy of the reader, Tris is the worst and is almost never home, using “work” as an excuse as to why he can’t help around the house more. Labeling Charlotte’s author job as second place to his “real work”, the reader is easily led to being on Charlotte’s side.
Told from a dual point of view, we get the second point of view from Mia, a struggling actress who just can’t seem to catch a break. Having met Seth, her boyfriend at the train station she is set on track to “making it” when she meets Charlotte who proposes a strange arrangement wherein Mia would pretend to be Charlotte & turn in a book Charlotte had written to get more notoriety from it.
But.. what do these two women have in common? What did Flo, Charlotte’s sister tell her all those nights ago after a family party? And most importantly, why would an author want to pass off a career changing book to another person rather than taking it on herself? Trust me when I say.. these answers will shock you, leaving you up till the late hours of the morning, each consecutive page shocking you more and more.
I really enjoyed this book after being intrigued about where it was going initially. A great plot premise with some interesting twists. Definitely looking forward to reading more from the author.
I adore the writing style of Lucy Dawson!
The characters are well written and the plot has been really well thought out.
If you enjoy a good page Turner this one will have you up until the dawn chorus!
I can’t wait to discover more from the author
Revenge is sweet, or is it.
This is a mind blowing book. A tale that’s so gripping, so compulsive so habitual you will not want to leave it alone.
I read parts of this then was listening on audio which I borrowed from my library, I ended up staying with the audio as the voice was so emphatic in places reaching various tones, pitch and pace that had me either gasping, holding my breath or shocked.
It’s certainly a fast paced book and I loved it.
I received a digital ARC of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. It has been on my kindle waiting to be read for a while now but having read a book by Lucy earlier in the year I was excited to read another.
This was another great story by this author. A little slow initially but once the link was revealed between Charlotte and Mia, I was gripped!! I'll definitely read more books by this author in the future.
First, let me thank netgalley and the publishers for approving my request for an early release of this book. All reviews of my netgalley books can be found on goodreads and youtube. Please be sure to check out the links attached.
Another thrilling read by a talented author. I love Lucy's books and can't wait to read the next one. Recommended.
Dawson writes with stunning clarity and flawless prose. Her words suck you in and hold you captive, forgetting about all else until you know the truth.
Well I have to be honest and say I usually really enjoy Lucy Dawson's books but I found this one really slow and didn't really grip my interest, the storyline was okay but not as many twists and turns compared to others. However this hasn't put me off reading books by this author and I will still look out for more of her books.
This book is one of many that I seem to have read of late - "husband and wife have perfect marriage but not is all what it seems to be". This started off slowly for me - typical domestic psychological thriller that introduced the background of several characters. It turned out to be more of a revenge thriller - and one I put down and had to go back to. Something about it just didn't grab me. It was a good story, however, I think I was left trying to figure it all out even after the end.
Thanks to Lucy Dawson, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
3.5 stars - A very interesting and engaging premise. The writing and characters were well done. I just am not sure I understand where this all ended up. I think maybe I missed something or there was something I was supposed to understand or deduce, that I just didn't quite get. I dunno - I liked it well enough that it kept me reading and guessing and wondering what was truly happening, but I got no big payoff, aha moment at the end.
Thank you to Net Galley Lucy Dawson and Bookouture for providing me with my ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review
This starts out to be a domestic thriller. It is very slow going at first which I believe is due to introducing all of the characters. First we are introduced to Charlotte who seems to have the perfect life married to Tris. Their marriage isn't as perfect as it seems. It is beginning to show its fault lines as Tris doesn't think Charlotte's job as a writer is very important and he is often gone a lot on business and doesn't help out with their kids. At a book signing in Edinburgh Charlotte meets Mia who looks a lot like Charlotte did 20 years ago and Charlotte proposes to Mia to pretend to be her and take credit and make money for Charlotte"s next book.
Mia is a struggling actress who has a boyfriend named Seth who is really Charlotte"s husband Tris. Charlotte finds this out through her sister Florence who Mia is seeking out therapy through Flo as Flo is a psychologist. Charlotte puts her plan in motion for revenge.
Lucy Dawson is a psychologist as well as an author who puts in many twists and turns and plenty of red herrings. What I did enjoy was the sisterly relationship between Charlotte and Flo. This is a story about revenge and to say anything more would spoil it for other readers interested in a good psychological thriller.
I had a hard time figuring things out which is wonderful! Great character development...I would definitely read another title by this author.
