What an incredible thriller! Love this author and literally couldn't tear myself away from this book. Will definitely be reading more.

When you are introduced to a new author you are unsure what to expect and especially if it is also a debut. So I was very pleasantly surprised when I began reading this book.

I was immediately gripped. It is a very unique story. One that had me questioning whose side I was actually on.

Life dealt Ellie a rough hand. Small in stature with crooked teeth she is nothing to look at, is living on the breadline and recently lost her mother to cancer. Nobody to love her or to love except her precious animals. When a gift floats in to her hands she suddenly has the means to make a difference. She grabs the opportunity with both hands and sets about seeking justice for the illtreated and abused animals that she loves so much.

Mia is a forensic psychologist for the NCA. She likes the finer things in life, designer clothes, good food top range cars etc. She has the body and the looks to have most men drooling and enjoys flirting with Mark.

As the investigation progresses Mia manages to untangle the clues much faster than Mark and his team and soon finds a way to link up to the elusive Ellie. What she finds is very different to what she was expecting.

This is an intriguing book that has the pages turning. It is different in a very refreshing way as the lines between right and wrong become blurred. The characters are all unique and cleverly created to make them interesting and realistic building in complexity throughout the story. There is a little romance worked cleverly through but, thankfully, no explicit sex scenes and the romance is an important part of the story rather than something thrown in. The description is minimal and relevant which makes this a fast-paced read that is all action and investigation.

A brilliant read I am really looking forward to reading more from this author.

A book to make you think. If you could, would you save as many animals as you could and punish the people that abuse them? Would that make you a terrorist? Would you have sympathy with the people who did punish abusers? What price an animal life?

I loved this book. A good story, well told and evenhanded too.

The book was pretty good. Just did not work for me. The ending just didn't make sense. It was a bit too much.
Thank you, NetGalley for the advance copy to review.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This book was formerly published as Wings of Retribution.
Dr. Mia Langley is a forensic psychologist for the National Crime Agency and Ellie Grant works for an animal shelter. The only thing they have in common is they prefer animals over people.
When Ellie comes into an enormous amount of money she decides to dedicate her life to punishing those people who have hurt or killed animals as well as open up animal sanctuaries.
The violent retributions Ellie and her team undertake eventually lead Mia on Ellie's trail.
Frankly, I found the book a bit uneven with an abrupt end, but found myself empathizing with the
women even though the extreme violence of the punishments were morally repugnant to me. As an animal lover who often prefers animals over people, I feel the abusers should be allowed to rot in jail instead of so often just getting a slap on the wrist. I give this book 3.5 stars.
