Fox Hollow Farm, the infamous Indiana property where at least eleven murders of gay men occurred at the hands of mad man Herb Baumeister . Have you heard of the case of Fox Hollow Farm? I have not but sure found out a lot of information about the case.
A couple and their children purchased the farm after it sat vacant for many years, after all who wants the stigma of living in the "murder house" ?
Almost as soon as they moved in paranormal activities started manifesting.
After a tragedy such as this the building is usually torn down. In this case it was left standing and of course grabbed the morbid curiosity of many thrill seekers who dared each other to go there to explore.
When the family moves in they work with paranormal investigators who thoroughly research the case and use the latest equipment to "make contact" with the spirits and entities .
Many sightings in the woods surrounding the home, day and night both. Contact was also made through evp (electronic voice phenomena ). Clearly and concisely presented book. I do believe in the paranormal . What about you?

This book was intriguing, I had not heard of this particular serial killer. It is unusual for a home of this nature to remain standing since many murders were committed there. The graveyard they found out back would be enough to put most people off this home. Fox Hollow is currently occupied by a very brave or very crazy family. The author takes you through the home and the findings without recounting the entire terrible history of the crimes, since they are not the true focus of this book. The focus of this book is the paranormal happenings that occur here . There are many to choose from, ghosts of the former owners, ghosts of the victims and a non human entity. Could this entity be the cause of all the terrible happenings here? This book does give some insight as to what may happen to us when we die. Don't read alone in the dark!!

I really liked this book. I don’t remember hearing the story of Herb Baumeister before so the “true crime” portion was pretty interesting. The “paranormal investigation” part was also interesting but not as shocking as I expected.
Overall I thought it was a pretty good book. It was well written and not boring at all. I would recommend it if serial killer true crime and/or hauntings are your thing 😉
Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read and review it.

Now normally I don't read nonfiction horror stories. They are usually too much for me and will creep me out and then I can't sleep and it's a whole thing. I didn't know that The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm were a true story. So about 10 pages in, I started to freak out that these things were real.

But our two authors do a great job of retelling the information in a spooky manner, but not so spooky that a scaredy cat like me will run for safety. The book is told in a factual way. Yes, there is eeriness. Yes, definite creepiness and at times, I did want to stop reading....since in my ingeniousness, I thought it would be a good idea to read it with the lights out and on my Kindle. NOTE: Why do we make decisions like this for ourselves?

I very much liked this story, even with the crazy haunting and the evil that seems to have taken hold at the farm. The only thing I would suggest to a reader (like me anyway) is maybe be smart and read with the lights on. HA!

"Fox Hollow Farm, the infamous Indiana property where Herb Baumeister allegedly murdered at least eleven men, has a grim past and an unsettling present. This riveting book pieces together the story of the tragic case and explores the paranormal encounters that continue to this day, delving into the psyche of a suspected murderer and the terrifying supernatural activity that lingers in the aftermath of such unspeakable evil.

The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm provides detailed insights from the original criminal investigation as well as the perspectives of the man who survived Herb's attempt on his life. This chilling book also features actual supernatural evidence - from EVPs and psychic confirmations to first-hand accounts of the disembodied hands and voices that regularly manifest on the estate."

True crime plus true ghosts? Oh yes. Also I was recently explaining EVPs to someone, so this book should help them along their ghost hunting way.

A great paranormal read. I only wished there was a bit more true crime/history added in. I'm a fan of shows such as Ghost Hunters and the back half of this book reads just like it's from an episode on TV. I'd recommend it to any other paranormal fans out there, even if you don't know the background of Fox Hollow Farm.

This is my first venture with a True Crime/ Paranormal crossover and unfortunately I did not enjoy it.

Having a basic understanding of Herb Baumeister and the horrors that took place at Fox Hollow Farm I was interested to find out more when I came across this book. The first part of the book was good, you get a concise but detailed account of Baumeister and his crimes and then you learn about how the current owners came to buy the property and what has happened to them and their lodger since. After this the book then goes into a lot of detail about the paranormal groups multiple investigation of the property over several days. From this point I began to struggle with the book. Nothing much happened and it was like watching Most Haunted or Ghost Hunters during their investigations. This part became tedious to the point that I had to stop reading, 60% through the book.

A fascinating story that advances the always present question...does a crime scene absorb the evil of the crime only to forever reflect that crime? Both sides of the story are well researched, the crime and the aftermath. Richard Estep and Robert Graves obviously spent a considerable amount of time and effort to insure this story was a great reading experience. There was never a boring or slow chapter. True crime done right!

Let me say that I love true crime and also anything paranormal. I have never read them both together before. The paranormal evidence captured on this property is beyond creepy. This was in interesting & well written read.

I enjoyed the look into a serial killer's property where so many men have died at the hands of one. So often properties are torn down because they become tourist attractions and have the horrible memory attached to them forever. That is also the case with this property.

I don't remember hearing about this particular case, but I did find it fascinating that this property is still standing and the owners have allowed paranormal researchers into their home. I just don't think I could make a place such as this my home. I personally would be too freaked out.

The only thing I didn't really care for with this book was I wish it had focused a bit more on the victims. I know some weren't claimed by their families because of the stigma of being gay but it would've been nice to have a sort of tribute to those that suffered at the hands of this killer.

I was given an eARC by the publisher through NetGalley.

I love any type of paranormal or true crime story. I think it’s a morose fascinating subject. This story tells the tale of Herb Baumeister, an alleged serial killer from Indiana. While this book was interesting, I felt it dragged at times and was building up to a reveal that didn’t really deliver. I found myself wanting to ask more about Baumeisters family (his wife and children and what they knew or saw) than the paranormal aspect. Over all it was an interesting read but it didn’t keep me dying to turn the next page.

3 for neutral! Unfortunately, I could not get into this book and enjoy it. I’m moody, so will update later if able to finally enjoy!

While I was exited to read this book, I have to say it really didnt amount to be much more than watching an hour long episode of Ghost Hunters. I think there was a bit too much of a build up, for the minimal evidence that they actually found in their investigation. It's certainly an interesting story, but maybe not one that I needed a whole book on.

I thought I would enjoy this book's combination of true crime and paranormal investigation, but it turns out I prefer it to be one or the other. Not my cup of tea, but others may enjoy.

I received a digital ARC from the publisher via Netgalley.

Let me break this down with pros and cons.

Pros: The story itself is a great read. I loved the perspectives from people that have first hand knowledge of the history, and events. Most of the book I felt I was reading a true crime novel. It was outstanding. Then, it melded from a quick ending, to a retelling with added freaky events. I don't scare easily. But, I may have had to put this down and take a breather when I was reading it and my house decided at one particularly intense moment to settle and make a loud noise. Of you are a true crime fan, or a fan of anomalous events, this book is for you. If you are a fan of both, you should really read the book, now. The photos add another level of spooky to the story as well. It's in the writing, and adding the visual just drives home the fact that horrible things happened there in a seemingly normal place.

Cons: Let me start by saying neither of these take away from my feelings of the story. It was fantastic.
I was sent a story with so many typos I had to decipher lines. Making it hard to read through the first time fully. Second read through, I knew "FL" "ff" and mand "a" in and we're going to be missing. It was a far faster read. Again, I get it was an early releae. But, that was a serious drawback. Also, this was the last of 7 books I grabbed due to requests for links by the publisher. I understand the wanting to know where it's reviews are published, but it felt like request over kill. Maybe come at your beta readers in a different way that feels more friendly? Because, if this is the kind of stuff you're churning out, it's stuff I want to read more of!
I would like to thank the authors, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for my non biased opinion. Once publishing date passes, I will add my review to Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes and Noble.

This book was very well written. Nice and easy to read and flowed well. Had me on the edge of my seat. Wondering which way it was going to go. Great mystery can’t beat it.

I love a good ghost story and some crime novels if they’re not too gory. I wanted to know more about the Herb Baumeister story and the background information. To me, that was missing. There were extensive details about the supernatural activity. I didn’t find it all believable and some of the fell flat.

No fault to the author but the ebook version provided by NetGalley was challenging to read so it could have made the overall experience worse that it was.

I found that this was fascinating even if you are familiar with the story of Fox Hollow Farm and Herb Baumeister’s serial killings that took place there. Since much of it deals with things that have happened since then, it’s still of interest. It is of a paranormal bent, so if that is not your thing, you may want to pass on this one. I found it very interesting, even though I’d seen several shows covering similar things, such as Ghost Adventures, etc. The first part is written by written by Richard Estep, then Robert Graves, the current owner of Fox Hollow, takes up the story. Estep goes over the investigation of the property during times spent there.

Rob Graves tells of his experience from first learning of the place, deciding to buy it and the extended time it took to finally agree on an amount, and finally getting a call from the seller agreeing on a price much later. Then what it had been like from that point on living on such an estate, and the huge amount of time and money it takes to maintain it. Also how his wife and a tenant had begun having experiences with ghosts, unexplainable sounds, knocking when no one was there, ect. This led to the family eventually allowing paranormal investigators in.

There was plenty of information that was new to me, despite all I’d already seen and read about the subject to keep my interest, so others who are new to it, or only know some of the story should have no problem finding lots of interest in this story. I’d suggest this for those who like true crime and paranormal on one of the only crime scenes of its kind that is still standing, let alone being lived in as a residence by a family. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, authors Richard Estep & Robert Graves, and the publisher.

Focusing on one of America's lesser known serial killers, The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm unravels the mystery surrounding Herb Baumeister - suspected of killing over 11 men over a 20 year period. While the timeline following Baumeister's life and the suspected killings is concise and detailed, the majority of this book is dedicated to the supernatural hauntings alleged to be happening at the farm where Baumeister buried his victims. As a skeptic, I had a difficult time suspending my disbelief in ghosts but it was still a fun read!
