A man is found in his own bedroom with multiple shattered bones, to the extent that he needs his arms and leg amputated. It’s a puzzle for Beth and the team to find out who did it and also why. More bodies – different wounds but there seems to be a connection. When a series of emails appears, all written in code, Beth is in her element. There’s more about her own life, and the race is on to find the perpetrator before there’s another set of crushed limbs. It’s an exciting story, a real puzzle with an unexpected ending. This series is going from strength to strength. Highly recommended.

This is book three in the brilliant Detective Beth Young series and ohhh it’s a goody!!!
I have read the previous books and in my opinion this is a series that’s just getting better and better. Once more we are back with the team who are faced with a real gruesome perpetrator named the sculptor and this really is one sadistic person leaving the first victim barely alive and horrifically injured and not much in the way of clues as to why.The story keeps you on the edge of your seat as the team struggle to piece together what clues they have and once more Graham Smith had written an amazing mystery with lots going on keeping you on your toes throughout.
Beth’s back story of her hunt to try and find the men who were the cause of her facial injury hots up as she meets up with one of the men and this all adds to the continuing enjoyment of this series.
Set in the beautiful Lake District, a gripping storyline and excellent writing what more could you wish for in a book so thank you Graham and I look forward to reading more in the series, 4+ stars and well recommended.
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A good book and a very interesting story with a great set of characters. This book was enough to get me to revisit DC Young and her colleagues and it kept my attention.

When people start showing up damaged in such a way that it is unsure if they will make it or why the police get involved in a major way. When it becomes obvious they are tracking a serial killer they pull out all the stops. There is never a question of if but more how will they catch this person. This is entertaining to read and follow along.

I was hooked. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A man is injured to the extent that he will need- if he survives - his legs and arms amputated. Then 2 bodies are pulled out of Lake Windermere with patterns chiselled into their skulls, are the two attacks done by the same person? Detective Beth Young is supposed to be monitoring an email address connected to the case, but is distracted by finding one of the men who caused her facial injury. Cab she get everything back on track to stop any further attacks.

Loved it.

The opening chapter of Fear in the Lakes leaves you in no doubt that this is going to be twisted, that it's going to be gruesome and it's going to be sick! Graham Smith has entered the building folks and he's giving Detective Beth Young an experience that she is not going to forget!
Laura Sinclair comes home to find her husband James, beaten to a pulp and Beth's love of puzzles and riddles will serve her well in this investigation. I love her quirky mind and the approach she takes to solving cases! We are definitely getting to know her a little better as the series goes on as her private life is slowly unwrapped.
Lots of little seeds of doubt were planted in my mind about Laura and James, just who were this couple and was everything as perfect in their lives as the picture painted for public show? Graham Smith has a canny knack for planting all these questions inside the reader's head as he makes the reader question every character who crosses the page!
Beth is soon caught up in the ensuing investigation and without giving away any spoilers, this one is fast paced, it's brutal and it's brilliant! This time round Beth also meets up with someone from her past, is she going to be able to lay some ghosts to rest or is she stirring up a whole hornet's nest for herself.
It twists and it turns as it explores small town communities, the close-knit relationships that can fester into something much more sinister. Lies and secret messages all combine into a fast-paced, roller-coaster ride of a read!
I am really enjoying Beth's working relationship with her boss, Zoe O'Dowd. It is always a bonus to see two women working together in a supportive way as opposed to the common theme of jealousy causing them to compete with one another. O'Dowd is probably my favourite character, there is something endearing about her grumpiness! Perhaps she reminds me of me! I've got such a clear picture of her in my head and I love how she looks out for Beth.
Fear in the Lakes provides a perfect sense of place, the reader is taken on a journey through the small villages of Cumbria and into Carlisle and it is easy to find yourself completely immersed in the locations.
Deliciously dark and gruesome, Fear in the Lakes is a nail-biting read which will leave you crying out for more!
My review will be on the blog as part of the blog tour

When Laura comes home she find her husband James clinging to life and when she look at him she realize her husband body is broken.

Beth and her co-workers are task to found out who will attack a James when it seems he led a good life.

As Beth find cryptic messages on his computer she thinks he been having an affair but as she goes deeper she found nothing as it seems and when two more body are found with similarities. As she race to find the person before the next victim is kill she also dealing with confronting one of the men who was in a fight that cause the scar on her face.

It was edge of your seat mystery thriller with some nice twist and turns.

I do believe that Beth have got herself enemy and I love how Beth put the temporary cop McKay that was working with in his place.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
