There is no one I'd rather take a life journey with than Mr Rogers. He invited us into a community where everyone was safe and loved. Where the lessons he gave us will live forever. This is a book to keep next to your reading chair to visit whenever you need a little lift.
What a lovely book. This collection of quotes from Rogers transcends faith, beliefs, and culture. Each selection is brief, no more than 1-2 pages, making it easy to pick up and flip to any page to be inspired. At the core of Rogers' philosophy is kindness, both to ourselves and those around us. This is evident throughout Life's Journeys, and reminds us that there is hope in this uncertain world.
Life’s Journeys According to Mister Rogers is a compilation of quotes and speeches given by Fred Rogers throughout his lifetime.
Summary: This book is filled with words of wisdom from someone who clearly had a grasp on the importance of every human being as an individual. You can truly see just how much Mr. Rogers valued people.
My Thoughts: This was a great little book filled with important things we each need to remember in life. If everyone treated each other the way that Mr. Rogers did, so many of our problems would disappear.
I grew up watching Mr. Rogers on television, and this book reminded me just what an amazing man he really was. I am sure I am not the only one to have been affected this way, but the book is definitely a good reminder of his legacy, as well as what’s truly important in life.
This book would make the perfect gift for a child growing up, a graduate heading off to college, or even a place to pull quotes from to place around your home as good reminders that people need to be loved just the way they are.
I would like to thank Hachette Books for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review-thank you!
What is essential is invisible to the eyes. So after a lot of sadness, I began a lifelong search for what is essential, what it is about my neighbor that doesn't meet the eye. .. There begins the wisdom of Mr. Rogers.
The red sweater, his careful way and the kind way Mr. Rogers spoke to everyone is what we remember of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. His wisdom on the value of all people is a lesson worth learning and the lesson of expressing your feelings in a healthy way is Mr. Roger's legacy.
This is a short book with wisdom snippets and a look into what made Mr. Rogers an icon today. Before the movie comes out, this is a great intro to the man known as Mr. Rogers.
A Special Thank you to Hachette Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
What a sweet book. I have always been enthralled with anything related to Mr. Rogers. His voice calms me. His words are pure genius. This book just reminded me of all that.
I chose to savor this collection a few pages a night and at least one of the quotes was relevant to my current state every time. I highly recommend this one for anyone needing gentle guidance, even if they don’t know it at the time (everyone).
Fred Rogers ranks as one of the people I wish I had had a chance to know for giving generations of children (and their parents) a voice to their feelings and fears, and imparting the confidence to be their true selves by validating that they are valuable just as they are. Also for teaching us all with never-ending patience, warmth and kindness how to deal with an extensive variety of situations while guiding us to be the best, kindest people we can be. That's who he was, what he did, and continues to do in this collection of quotes taken from his life's work.
Everyone can learn something from Mister Rogers, no matter how young or old. This warm hearted book will help you do that again, and again, and again.
A wonderful little book, it gets four stars from me!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Books for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
Every word of the book is worthy of highlighting and re-reading. Fred Rogers was such a treasure.
This book is collection of quotes, songs, and speeches, along with an introduction from his wife, Joanne.
I love Fred Rogers. What a gift he was and continues to be - but damn it, he makes me cry every time!
Like many people my age, I grew up watching Mr. Rogers on television. It was my very favorite show for a long time. It wasn't until I got older that I could appreciate what I was being taught among the songs and imaginative play with my favorite TV personality. This book brought back all those good feelings. What a wonderful gift this book is to those of us who loved Mr. Rogers and can't wait to pass on his teachings to future generations!
I grew up watching Mr. Rogers neighborhood. He taught us about community, compassion and humanity. I was thrilled to read this book and I could almost hear his soothing voice as I read each entry. This book is a wonderful tribute to an amazing man and it offers us some wonderful glimpses into his life and how he viewed the world.
Life, itself, is a journey. We begin life as helpless, small, needy infants and learn as we continue on this journey. Hopefully along the way we gain some insights before we need them, and if not then hopefully we learn them through experience. This book is somewhat of a guidebook to this journey.
This is divided into three sections, with a very moving forward by his wife, Joanne, these sections are:
Who You Are Right Now
”We can’t be expected to leave the unhappy and angry parts of ourselves at the door before coming in. We all need to feel that we can bring the whole of ourselves to the people who care about us.”
Loving and Being Loved
This section includes several shorter thoughts, and one story that was about the Special Olympics that was especially moving, another story about a monestary on the topic of love and success.
Guided Drift
”I recently learned that in an average lifetime a person walks about sixty-five times around the world. I wonder where your steps will take you. I wonder how you’ll use the restof the miles you’re given.”
Inspiring words, thoughts, to guide us on our journey.

seriously, who didn't love mister rogers?!
this book is fantastic. i can't wait to buy a physical copy for our bookcase.
As soon as I saw the name "Mister Rogers", I knew I had to read this book. And it did not disappoint! I feel like the world would be a better place if more people learned something from Mr. Rogers. This book warmed my heart and inspired me to be a better human being. Reading his tidbits of wisdom was both a pleasure and an honor. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book compiling all of the anecdotes from Fred Rogers. I grew up watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood in the early eighties. He was such a large part of my growing up years that I shared him with my young daughters and they love him now. This book takes all of his sayings and philosophies and puts them in a quick little book. I loved it! I felt loved and cherished and guided all over again as if I had just watched one of his shows. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a big hug and needs reassurance that there is love out in the world for them. This book would make a great graduate gift!
Mister Rogers’s words have the ability to soothe and help people through times of joy, sorrow, trouble, and pain. Compiling his advice and lyrics, Mr. Rogers’ wisdom, experiences, and love for humanity will help readers to navigate changes and major events in life. Religion is only briefly mentioned in the book, but when mentioned, it focuses on spirituality. This book would make a great gift idea for anyone dealing with difficult situations in life. or for anyone who loves Mister Rogers wisdom and advice.
This short book contains the thoughts and beliefs of one of televisions most loved children's entertainers, Fred Rogers.
Fred Rogers had a spiritual compass and a determination to effect change in children's television. He had been bullied as a child and from his difficult childhood, he took many lessons. The lesson he wished to impart in this short book was that we must all love ourselves, be kind to ourselves, give ourselves time to think through tough questions or situations, and to gather around us a network of supportive people. This is the formula for a happy life.
I highly recommend this heartwarming book of thoughts, from one of the world's kindest and caring persons: Fred Rogers.
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
"Life's Journey's According to Mister Rogers," by Fred Rogers was a treasure trove of wisdom and nuggets of truth mined by Mister Rogers over the decades of his life as a part of the children's television show, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," he advocacy for children and those rejected by society, and his overall lifestyle of showing others love and respect no matter who they were or where they were from.
This books contains some profound insights from Mister Rogers seem to be uncovered right before your eyes as the light bulb turns on and your mind begins to process and take in the truths expressed. The book reads almost like you are reading through Fred Rogers' journal. Each page you discover new ideas and thoughts that are both simple yet deep. I had a pad of paper to write down my thoughts as I went along and I just kept writing. There was so much depth expressed throughout this amazing little book.
This book would make the perfect gift for a graduating senior anticipating the next phase of their life. It would also be a helpful, easy read for those going through difficult transitions in life such as divorce, the death of a spouse or a parent, maybe a way to console a good friend after they lost a job. The book focuses mostly on the journey of life. It touches on themes about God, grief, loss, separation, relationships, feelings, accepting others and feeling accepted. Even if you aren't going through a difficult transition, this book will help you to see what's most important as you wade through the river of life.
I received this eBook free of charge from Hachette Books via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
I wish someone had given me a book like this when I was a teenager… It really would’ve helped my personal journey through life! It took me many many years to realize many of the truths that he writes about in this book. It would be a perfect gift for any loved one in your life, young or old… And I really enjoyed the introduction by Fred’s wife.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This may be a very short book, but it's very enjoyable and contains a lot of wonderful lessons from Mister Rogers. It's the kind of book that you can hold onto for the rest of your life and randomly read it whenever you want to feel inspired or if you just want to feel good.
If someone had told me when I was a child watching his television show that I'd still be learning from Mister Rogers several decades later, well, I probably wouldn't have believed them. But I think that those feelings of disbelief would have quickly been replaced by feelings of gratitude and happiness.
After all, someone would be telling me that Mister Rogers was still going to be my friend and my neighbor many years later. Maybe even for forever.
Who wouldn't want that?
