Resist features two strong-willed main characters. Vaughn is our sympathetic heroine, a focused and driven woman determined to get what she wants. Her goal is an admirable one that I wanted to see her reach. Vaughn leads an intriguing life, which certainly kept my interest as I was reading. She doesn’t have the time to deal with someone like Ryker, a man who expects to get what he wants. It took me a while to warm up to him, but eventually he wore me down like he did Vaughn, despite her multiple attempts at pushing him away. The conclusion is a stunner, and as such I will be impatiently waiting for September to roll around.

I typically stay away from duets until both books are out because cliffhangers drive me crazy! But this sounded good and I'm a fan of the author so I picked it up. And I got so much more than I was expecting! It's sexy, emotional, intense and even fun at times. I have so many questions, hopes and theories that will keep me thinking about this book for a long time to come. The wait for the conclusion is going hurt!

Omg!!! K.Bromberg is one of my favorite authors and she has done it again!!! Resist is the book you didn’t know you wanted and now you can’t wait for book 2!!
This story follows Vaughn and Ryker. If I mention anything about them it will completely give it away. I will say this- they are brought together in such an unconventional way. Both are damaged souls who can’t/don’t trust anyone because they have relied on themselves too long and they don’t want to let anyone in. They don’t trust one another but we feel like they are each slowly bringing down their walls as the story progresses.
The ending of this story blew me away. I cried. I got angry. I was left in shock. I kept telling myself this wasn’t it but it is and now I have to wait for the second book to get the rest of the story.
K. Bromberg knocked it out of the park. Not that I’m surprised.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book. If it’s anything like this one it will be elevated to favorite very quickly.
Do yourself a favor and read this book. It doesn’t disappoint.

Secrets are a plenty when Vaughn leads a life filled with different personas. She is the loving sister, the bombshell waitress and also the ring leader in a high-end escort service. But when those lines get blurred and Ryker goes from client to so much more will she be able to keep things straight? Or will everything come crashing down around her and destroy all of her hopes and dreams? Once again K.. Bromberg creates characters and storylines that the readers cannot help but fall in love. There is never a point where a chapter ends that I could walk away from the book. Emotions run high and the ending came too quick - K. Bromberg - I need the next one in the series NOW!!

Resist is an addictive book, the kind that has you sneaky off to get in just one more page! Vaughn is mysterious, Ryker is swoony and the chemistry between them is irresistible. The suspense of watching Vaughn’s double life speeding towards its inevitable collision was nail biting good. This book is the first in a duet, so yes it has a doozy of a cliffhanger, but isn’t that what makes a story unforgettable? I can’t wait to read that next book & find out how Vaughn & Ryker get their happy ending.

I read this book knowing it was a duet, and would likely end in a cliffy.  I took the plunge anyway, and now I'm dying to get my hands on the second book.  This one was so good!!  It was a fresh storyline that wrapped me up immediately.  There was so much going on my mind was racing on how everything would come together.

I was really happy that this book was written in duel POV because I found myself constantly wondering what was going through Ryker's mind.  He was a tough character to crack, and even getting a glimpse inside his head I'm not sure that I know him.  He is one hundred percent alpha asshole, which happens to be one of my favorite kind of characters.

This book isn't short, and covers a lot of ground.  I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this storyline is going to play out and if this burning ache in my chest after finish this book will be soothed in the second book.

I suspected this was going to be an emotional journey but I didn’t have a clue it was going to take me on such a ride that my heart would be cracked open, healed a bit, and then cracked open again even more viciously leaving me in a puddle of pain and despair.

Vaughn runs an escort service that caters to wealthy men who need a bit of arm candy and a little something more. While she doesn’t hesitate to step in when one of girls needs her, she doesn’t personally “date” clients. That is, until everything goes belly up and she’s left scrambling to keep an important new client, one who can escalate her relatively new business. Even so, she should stay behind the scenes, except this particular client challenges her, causing her hackles to rise until she finds herself setting up the date as an alternate persona.

Ryker is a cold, hard, a hole of a lawyer. He’s deserving of his reputation and utilizes it. But after a relationship left him fed up with the lies that women tell, he decides a permanent escort is the way to go. But when the woman he’s chosen is unable to attend their date, he finds himself in a telephone confrontation with the owner. She has a take no prisoner attitude and refuses to meet his challenge, leaving him to meet a replacement for the evening. And then things get interesting.

“ ‘Ryker.’ It’s just my name. Not Mr. Lockhart. Just Ryker. The name I’ve wanted her to call me, and yet when she does, there’s a vulnerability to it that does sh-t to my insides. It makes a man whose heart is cold and dead flicker to life. “

Both Vaughn and Ryker intrigued me. Vaughn, living many lives at once, suddenly finds them all colliding even as her murky past raises its head to taunt her with memories long forgotten. She’s an emotional mess and with each revelation into her character my heart cracked a little more. Despite her tough exterior, inside she is broken, scared, vulnerable, and hopeless. But she refuses to give up. Vaughn is definitely the center point of the story as she battles her past, her present, and is reluctant to look towards the future.

“ This was momentous.
This was something I didn’t expect, but now…now the one thing I would have thought could never happen – my two worlds melding – just did, and the earth didn’t stop spinning. It didn’t even stutter unless you count the way my heart did watching the ruthless lawyer become a gentle giant with the one person I love more than anyone or anything.
This was momentous. “

Ryker (love the name!) had his own issues, but they weren’t anything in comparison to Vaughn’s. He’s actually that hero who just doesn’t recognize what it is he’s feeling and so he tends to act out, inflicting pain when that really wasn’t his intention. At times I wanted to smack him upside the head and yet there were times where I just wanted to sit him down for a good talking to. He was kind of clueless, but very real and relatable. And his interactions with a young Down syndrome girl is absolutely swoony. As for those jealous/possessive tendencies I love in a hero – there were just enough moments for him to shine in that regard.

“ ’I don’t like him.’
She laughs and rolls her eyes. ‘You’re jealous?’ she asks as if I’m crazy.
Not jealous. Just making sure he knows what’s mine. “

Together, this couple were alternately gasoline and matches or vinegar and oil. Every scene is laced with heavy emotion and so much angst that there were times I had to set this story aside so I could give my poor heart a rest from the workout they were giving it. But I couldn’t stay away for long as Vaughn’s pain and Ryker’s need kept pulling me back into the story. While this is a lengthy book, every beautifully written word is necessary to the story.

I knew this was going to be a cliffhanger but holy Hades, Ms. Bromberg gutted me with this ending! I am in serious, DESPERATE, need for the next book and I’m seriously not sure how I can read anything else until I get it. This story is going to leave you stewing, biting your nails, bouncing your leg and cursing the author until we get book 2!

A very interesting story to say the least.
It’s intense, raw and gives you all the feelings that you’re looking for in a love story that maybe shouldn’t have to happen but the chemistry, the attraction and love has other ways to get what it wants.
Put together two of the most stubborn and strong people and see if they can resist a second without igniting at least a small spark for the great fire.
Heartbreaking situations makes for a change of mind and situations in a very short time and that’s how our heroine builds her business.
A man used to have and get whatever he wants when he wants, it’s more and more interested in that one particular person that won’t play his game.
A lot of twists and turns, good writing and great characters. Yes , a cliffhanger for a big story but let’s see what the next book brings out of these two lovers.

Wow! That was intense! Vaughn “Vee” Sanders is the madam of a classy escort service...well a “companionship service” if you ask her, named Wicked Ways. When she has a issue with a high coverage client she ends up having to fill in for one of her girls. That’s where she meets the devious and ruthless Ryker Lockhart, a high powered divorce attorney, that will change her life forever. The chemistry between these two will have your e- readers on sizzle! They both have secrets that could change everything. Will they be able to overcome them or will they realize building anything on lies never really works? This does end in a major cliffhanger so be ready!! Oh and I loved the cameo from one of our favorite race car drivers! ;) I can’t say too much as I don’t want to give away the plot but this definitely kept my interest and cannot wait for book two. Told in dual POV

ARC received for an honest review

Firstly, I love the purple on the cover - it catches my eye every time I see it.

Wow! This story has bit of everything. A lot of sexy, a bit of suspensish, a little tense and a lotta sexual attention.

Ryker and Vaughn's story (wait, don't be like me and at first as I was reading think this was a M/M story - our lovely lady is Vaughn!) is one of games, of power plays, and of falling.

I loved the push/pull between our lovelies - it is bite and snark and all kinds of phone calls and hanging up and waiting to see who would cave first.

The thing though was that the steam was not really there for me. Sure, there was attraction by the boatload, but the sizzle factor wasn't up there. This is probably a me thing though and nothing to do with the book.

Yes, we were cliffhangered, however as soon as I saw it was part 1 I knew that was going to be so it didn't bother me. The thing that happens at the cliffy I could see happening a mile away, so I was like "guys, come on now you're better than this" - though I am looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in the second book.

She did it again! Kristy’s writing keeps you engaged and wanting more. I love this new start. She has great character development and it really sucks you in to loving her books. I always want more.

Omg... I didn’t know what to expect from this book, but that cliffhanger almost had me throwing my iPad. My heart just about stopped, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I’m hoping it’s some sort of a set up because I really don’t want to hate Ryker.

This book is sooooooo good! Blackmail, secrets, mistrust, power play. It has a lot of great stuff! Ryker is arrogant and hostile on the outside but caring on the inside. The discovery of his caring side is very surprising when Vee gets to know him better. And even when Vee is in a tough spot having to rub shoulders with questionable characters, she has the biggest honest heart of all. They both have in common a double life. Having to wear a mask for the sake of others and status. Sometimes to the point of hurting the other. And hurt they do. Can't wait to see what comes next and how they fix things.

4.5 'The unexpected' Stars!
ARC provided by the author via Netgalley.

I am always in the mood for whatever K. Bromberg writes. The woman and her stories just do it BIG TIME for me and now I can confirm Resist was no exception to that. This definitely has Kristy's style all over it but again she managed to give us another unique love story and outstanding main characters. And let me tell you, Ms. Bromberg I hope you work hard on giving us Reveal soon because I simply can't after that freaking cliffhanger: I need the second book yesterday!!

Resist is Kristy's upcoming release and it's the first installment in her Wicked Ways series / duet. It tells the story between Ryker Lockhart and Vaughn Sanders, two people from very different worlds that crash when they lay eyes on each other. Their start is rocky and difficult, with obstacles along the way but still with a whole lot of chemistry and feelings. Both are not decided to fall in love, they want to focus on their very important aims but, of course, love will be stronger than that.

"A real boss knows she has to get her hands dirty when need be... and I'm all for dirty, Vee."

What a fresh theme on this story! This is not the typical billionaire falling in love with a woman who apparently does not belong in his world, it is so much more. Vaughn is a strong woman, ready for anything and decided to do whatever necessary to get her life back. Ryker is reserved (especially when it comes to relationships) and focused on being the best divorce attorney but he gets in Vee's way when he becomes a client of her business and it becomes extremely difficult not to mix business with pleasure.

This man in particular knows too much about me. He sees me too well. He makes me feel when I don't feel.

There's so many layers to these two characters and I loved slowly pealing them and seeing them vulnerable. Their chemistry is beautiful, explosive and unstoppable and you'll love to see read this couple's journey to love. It's not easy but it never is! But trust me, it's so worth it. Ryker and Vaughn together are just to die for and I can't wait to read more. Again, Kristy give us Reveal soon because I am dying, woman!

Sometimes it's the ones you wait forever for who mean the most.

Therefore, I am rating Resist with 4.5 STARS because I simply adored this couple and their fascinating love story. I was not ready for that ending though and I cannot wait to read the next book to see what happens next between Ryker and Vaughn. I am sure it will be emotional but oh-so-amazing because K. Bromberg is one heck of a talented author. Guys, be sure to check this book when it releases in two weeks!

GAH! THAT ENDING?!

I love Bromberg's writing, I have devoured everything she has ever written and I have never been disappointed.

Resist is full of layers and deep secrets. Intense and unexpected.

Vaughn knows she should resist Ryker when she meets him, he doesn't fit into her plans, and honestly she doesn't fit into his in the long run. But could they resist each other? Nope, not even slightly.

That cliff-hanger pretty much ripped me in two!

Well written, intense, emotional and complex - another 5 star read from this author!

Eagerly and impatiently waiting book 2!

**4.5 Stars**

I went into Resist completely blind. I was immediately pulled into the premise of the story. There are a lot of pieces and players and lots of drama which keeps the book interesting and kept me invested as a reader.

The author kept me constantly guessing at what was going to happen and where the story was going to be leading. I had differing opinions on the main characters, Vaughn and Ryker, at different points throughout the book as varying degrees of information was brought to light, but they definitely had great chemistry together.

I did not know this book was going to end in a cliffhanger so that was a bit disappointing, but it didn't take away from my overall thoughts or experience reading the book and I am interested to see what happens next with these characters and with this story line. Definitely an engaging and interesting read!!!!

I'm such a huge fan of K. I love her books so much and I'm so glad I got to read this early. The writing was great and I enjoyed the characters. It does end on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a story K. Bromberg has weaved with Resist.! The story was well written, fast paced and characters well developed. There was a lot of chemistry, heart felt moments, intrigue and heartbreak. And that ending, when does book 2 release?
Ryker and Vaughn have an unbelievable pull towards each other and their chemistry is undeniable. What starts out as a business relationship turns out to be so much more or is it?
As the story progresses, Bromberg really develops the characters, their relationship and past issues. There is so much depth to them and the story. Vaughn’s past will make you feel in your heart, and for everything she has been through and is dealing with. You see her strengths and weaknesses but feel her growth as the story grows.
I can’t wait for book 2 of this duet, Wicked Ways. I highly recommend this book. One click it today!

I feel like I’ve read this story before...boy meets girl, girl has lingering issues, they fall in love. The cliffhanger seems pretty obvious to me, but I’ll defer to everyone else to read it and decide for themselves.
