This is a dark, twisty mystery with multiple viewpoints that reveal the story. It starts in the present and slowly unfolds backwards. A quick and fun read. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for providing a digital ARC for review.
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
When you read mostly mysteries and thrillers you learn what you like and don’t like. I do not like abused women on the run stories which is what All the Lovely Pieces is, at least up to the 50% mark. Drew is hiding with her little boy Michael from his abusive billionaire Dad Adam. I was working my way thru the story when Drew reads in a newspaper that her abusive husband she’s spent years running from was marrying a supermodel. She then gets angry that he’s getting remarried because he’s still technically married to her. It was at that infuriatingly ridiculous moment that I stopped reading, as I think any sane woman would do. DNF for me.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc I received in exchange for my honest review.
Starting a new life as an abused woman and your child is not easy. Especially if you have to hide from your husband and hope that he will never find you again. The topic of domestic abuse is difficult to write about but the author handled it well and it made for compelling reading.
Definitely a psychological thriller!!
All The Lovey Pieces finds Drew running from her abusive husband. It's been nine years and she's still running staying under the radar - that is until she's thrust into a nightmarish situation.
Hold on to your seats because this is one of those books you want to make sure you read during the day.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed are my own. Who doesn't love a good thriller? This is one that you don't want to put down.
This book was definitely a find for me. The characters were very realistic and believable, the plot was engaging and I never found myself bored or skipping ahead at any point. Those are both good hallmarks for a well-done book. Another note is that I immensely enjoyed the descriptive nature of the settings in the book, I really felt like I was there!
All the Lovely Pieces by J.M. Winchester is a thrill ride right from the start. Twisty, good plot, and plenty of intrigues. The characters felt a bit shallow, but overall a good read.
This was a really dark thriller, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. There are some themes that might be difficult for some readers, including domestic abuse and controlling men. I have to admit I had to stop and put the book down a few times to ground myself because certain scenes were so hard to read, and so realistic. My heart went out to Drew, who just wants to protect her son, even if some doubt is thrown on her innocence. There are plenty of twists and lots of suspense in this book. It'd definitely captivating, but at times just a little too vivid for me.
This thriller has all the pieces, Dark and twisty, a mom on the run trying to protect her son and herself, keeping secrets, etc. I do enjoy this but thought it could have gone even deeper into what made Adam who he was, for that matter maybe a little more insight into Drew and Michael as well. I was glad this was told in multiple view points to kind of round out the story. Good thriller, just a bit shallower and predict thanI was expecting.
A fast paced, suspenseful, twisty thriller. This drags you in and you won't be able to put it down til you're finished. I binged this in a day and thoroughly enjoyed it/
This dark and twisted psychological thriller will keep you thinking. As Drew and her 9 year old son Michael attempt to keep one step ahead of her abusive and controlling husband they find themselves in the small town of Liberty. When Drew met her husband Adam, he was charming and perfect. After the wedding everything changed. Will Drew find what she needs to free herself from this monster? Will she remember the true events of the night they escaped? I could not put this book down. I have seen caution against triggers with this read - but found it to be more about their flee and escape than rehashing abusive incidents. Overall, I highly recommend it. I received an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.
If you want a great thriller that is twisted, dangerous and dark this one is for you.
A page turner you won’t want to put down. I am excited about this author and can’t wait to read the next book.
Thank you to Thomas and Mercer and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel for my honest review. This book has already been published and I highly recommend picking up a copy!
This psychological thriller about how far a mother will go for her child is an unputdownable fast paced ride! Drew is a great character and I found myself rooting for her the whole book. I thought the ending was great and makes you think instead of being all tidy at the end. I definitely hope to see more from J.M. Winchester in the future!
I love this book from the first page! I’ve found myself to be very picky with thrillers lately, but this was perfectly suspenseful and filled with so many twists and turns! It had everything I needed.
I enjoy reading this book! I couldn't stop reading! It got me hooked with all the twists and pieces coming together in a great way! Thank you for the opportunity to read this book!
Drew Baker is on the run, wanting to give her son as normal of a life as possible, and when he begs her to stay in the little town they just settled in, she knows this might be something she can not promise. They’ve been on the run for 9 long years, always looking around the corner for her abusive husband she knows will find and kill her in order to get to their son. What’s most frightening is that this story is very believable and the author draws a clear picture of fear and terror.
I enjoyed how this story was told from multiple perspectives. We hear from present Drew, past Drew, and from her son Michael, 10 years old and curious about his mother’s secret. This is a book That will keep you on the edge of your seat and suck you in.
This book has me on the edge of my seat from the first page. Absolutely a wonderful read and a great suspense thriller
Rating: 5

Would I read more by this author? Yes
First off like I do in all of my reviews I want to thank the publisher as well as NetGalley for letting me read and review it because I can't believe it took me this long to pick it up and read it.If your looking for something that is dark and twisted and has lies and secrets in it then look no farther then. Because the author does a amazing job of bring out the intensity and the fear that Drew has. And the author does amazing job when she brings up the topic of abusive relationships with controlling men and how far some women will go to protect themselves and their children.
This book is a psychological thriller that hooked me from the start! The story had me questioning how I would handle a similar situation that the main character finds herself in. I also wondered how the sinister characters hid their true selves so well!
Overall the book kept my attention, but it was a little hard to read at times due to the subject matter featuring abuse. Still, I wanted to find out what happened & was glad I finished it.
