I was hooked from the first page. At first, I was nervous because it sounds a little like a book I have coming out later this year, but as I read it, I discovered its nothing like mine.

All The Lovely Pieces by J.M. Winchester is a totally fast-paced, gripping story about a woman who is hiding with her young son from her sadistic husband. As she settles into a small town in Missouri, she is nervous to make friends and become a part of the community though that’s what her son desperately needs. There’s a reason she picked this small town and that becomes clear shortly into the story.

As Drew navigates this new place with her son Michael, we read Catherine’s side of the story and what is currently happening with Drew’s husband, Adam. He has Catherine locked up where he can “keep her safe.” Adam has convinced Catherine that Drew was insane. Is she? We don’t really know. Will Catherine be driven to commit a terrible act out of desperation?

Drew has some repressed memories and isn’t sure if she killed Adam or not. She knows she did something to Catherine, didn’t she? This novel has all the elements of a fantastic suspense with a possibly crazy main character, parts of her memory aren’t clear, she thinks her husband is dead but maybe he’s alive.

For nine years, Drew Baker has been running from her brutal husband and the dark deeds of the night she left him. Focused on protecting her ten-year-old son, Drew reluctantly settles into a small town, eager to find proof of her husband’s true nature so she can stop looking over her shoulder.

But Drew is also on the run from her own terrible crimes—ones that mean prison and separation from her son should the police catch up to her before her husband does. If only she could remember that night and what really transpired…

Without warning, the unthinkable happens, and Drew is plunged into the most nightmarish situation a woman and mother could imagine. Desperate to save her child, Drew takes matters into her own hands, proving that anyone is capable of darkness, and nowhere is safe for those who fear themselves.

It’s an intense novel that I highly recommend!

All The Lovely Pieces was definitely an I-cannot-put-this-book-down mystery! Author J.M. Winchester wrote a fantastic twisted story that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first chapter.

Drew has taken her son and ran from her abusive husband…or is he? Is she the crazy one like he says? So many unanswered questions in everyone’s minds…but the author does an phenomenal job keeping you guessing all the way until the end! The way the characters are written are absolute perfection…every single one of them!

This was one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time! Such a page turner! I would absolutely recommend this with 5 stars!

All The Lovely Pieces was fast-paced, thrilling and full of heart racing moments. While there were certain aspects of the plot that reminded me of other thrillers that I have read, I thought that Winchester differentiated her story with an interesting take on the Oedipus complex. I enjoyed that Winchester moved so seamlessly between different character perspectives and the ending was unexpected and shocking. Drew had moments in which she seemed a bit extreme, but at the same time, it was clear that she was willing to do anything to protect her child. Overall, quite a thrilling and compelling story.

I received this book as an ARC on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was quite the page turner!!! In this book, we are introduced to Drew and her son, Michael, who are on the run from Drew's abusive husband. The author plants so many questions in your head as you read on....Why *exactly* are they on the run? Is Drew a good character or does she have an evil (maybe even murderous) side? What is up with Adam (her husband)? What causes him to be so abusive, manipulative, and controlling? Will Drew be able to ultimately hide from Adam and lead a more "normal" and "calm" life, or will he find her and Michael? We get the answers to most of these questions through the varying viewpoints of Drew, Michael, and Catherine (the nanny). Ohhhh....and Catherine....wow! I felt so terrible for what she had to endure. This book was one that I could not put down, and I found myself reading any time I could spare even just a few minutes. I will be looking for more books by J.M. Winchester!!!!

Wildly good book. The ending was wow.

Drew and her son, Michael, have been on the run from Drew’s evil and abusive husband

Drew and her son, Michael, have been on the run from Drew’s evil and abusive husband since Michael, now almost ten, was an infant, landing in out of the way, boring, little towns until Drew feels threatened and moves on.

When we meet them, they have just arrived in a new place, where, to Drew’s astonishment and ultimate happiness, the community welcomes them with open arms and both she and Michael actually make friends for the first time.

But Drew never feels safe, and as this tale of horrendous abuse reaches its terrifying conclusion, she finally exposes the truth about her husband and finally puts her fears to rest.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley..

The title absolutely fits this book and how all the pieces fit together. I like how it kept me guessing. I was 1/3 of the way into the book before i realized Catherine was the nanny and not the wife. Blown away by who really attacked the nanny, as well as the link between the Dr and Adam. I felt parts in the middle were a little slow going. Disappointed in the turns at the end of the book.

Whew! This was one heck of a page turner! I seriously enjoyed this thriller. I loved how the author kept me wondering whether or not the protagonist, Drew, was actually crazy or not. I found myself questioning Drew's motives and rationality behind her actions from nine years ago when she escaped the grips of an abusive husband by the name of Adam. I enjoyed the fact that there were two other voices to read in this story. One that came from Adam's mistress, the nanny Catherine and the other voice that of Michael, Drew's nine year old son. This story may contain sensitive subjects or be triggers for some readers as it touches on all types of abuse stemming from sexual to verbal to physical and emotional. This book also speaks about mental illnesses and psychosis and how a sick attachment to a handsome, wealthy man could be mistaken for love as he pumps his lovers with drugs to skew their memories. It's really quite awful what happened to Catherine... Quite awful.

There were so many twists and turns within this story and the author did not disappoint me as she painted a picture of what it was like to live in Drew's world on the run from her husband. The flashbacks to the past were a great way to show the reader just how terrifying it was for Drew to reside with Adam, a handsome and charming multibillionaire turned psychopath. Adam's weird fixation on his childhood nanny, Mariela, creeped me out, but I understood it to be a variation of a weird from of an Oedipus complex. I would have to recommend this book if you are looking for a dark, twisted, fast paced thriller with a mystery thrown in. My only question is... Did Michael really kill Shadow the kitten?

Thank you NetGalley and J.M. Winchester for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to your next heart pounding read.

I usually never read books like this let me start off by saying but I did enjoy this one. drew ran away from her abusive husband with her son Michael and she has to prove what kind of monster her ex really is. This book was a quick read hard to put down it is a little graphic with the abuse part so if you can’t read books like that for the triggers then it’s not for you but she did what she had to do to protect her son and I am here for that she just wants to give her son a normal life

Drew ran away from her abusive husband, Adam, with their son, Michael. This, when Michael was merely a baby. Running is not fun - not when you have to move essentially once a year -for 9 years. Drew cannot let Adam know where she is - it could likely cause her to be up for murder charges, in addition to abduction. In Liberty, Missouri, Drew thinks she can possibly be settled but she can never let her guard down. Also, Michael is getting older and is becoming attached to his new friends there. Drew has a lot of support and affection from townspeople in Liberty but is afraid to tell them any of the truths from back in Seattle with Adam.

Catherine, Michael's nanny, is in a similar situation. What is Adam doing? He is a ruthless multibillionaire and his narcissistic and abusive ways have taken over his life and that of those around him.

A very twisty, poignant read about differing types of abuse and how the victim feels/reacts. There are a number of surprises in store for the reader. A great read that hasn't a single dull moment from cover to cover !

Many Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story.

While I loved this book and literally couldn't put it down, I can't recommend it for my students because of its highly disturbing graphic descriptions of abuse. However, it is definitely a five star read for individuals who love a suspense thriller mystery. Extremely well written and deeply engrossing. Highly unusual plot, Stretches the bounds of imagination, but in a gripping way,

Drew Baker left her abusive husband for the sake of her son, Drew. Now after nine years on the run, Drew wants to put the past behind her, to settle down and create a normal life for her now 10 year old son. But to do that, she will need proof of what what kind of a monster her ex is. The problem is, exposing her husband, may also mean exposing herself and her own crimes. Crimes that may tear her son away from her for good. Drew is a heroine who has been beaten, but now bowed, and readers will be cheering for her to uncover the truth that will ultimately save herself and her son
