The blurb for this book states that ‘J.M.Winchester is the alter ego of an author who usually writes ‘happy ever after’s but her fascination with the workings of an evil mind compelled her to write this book’
Her fascination paid off 😵 as she has indeed created quite a scary, evil psychological thriller
Based around domestic abuse, parts of the book do have fairly vivid and disturbing descriptions of this, with an added throw in of ‘Oedipus complex’ and ‘Nanny fixation’ it makes for a very dark read....
Drew is on the run, and has been for 9 years, with her son Michael, she ia running from her evil husband Adam, billionaire, psychopath and violent bully, she never settles, she can never feel free, she can never let her guard down
Until she does....in a small town called Liberty, that she has chosen for a reason, a reason that could just help to put an end to her hell on earth existence once and for all
Drew needs to be careful who she trusts though and where she looks for this help, seeking help can equate to danger....
An unexpected and unsettling ending(s) finish this taught, claustrophobic tale that deals with hard hitting issues
Character wise, Adam the husband is atrocious, vile and plain evil, Drew is understandably anxiety and angst ridden and Michael, well Michael has 2 sides
Well written with the fear palpable and little wasted words it makes for a grimly enjoyable story with sides very quickly taken and kept to throughout the whole book
The author will I think carry on with further forays into this genre!

What a ride! I wasn't sure what this book was going to turn into. I knew from the teaser, it was going to be a parent trying hard to keep her kid safe from a maniac spouse. I had NO idea of the story I would end up reading. It's a great concept on the surface, and then as you delve deeper you see all the intricacies each character has. For a little while, you wonder who the good guy really is. Has she forgotten because she did something horrible, or because she saw something horrible? I still can't wrap my head around the damage the husband has. You want straight up, iconic cold, it's him. Power and attitude is just perfect addition to his "views" on women and what they are good for.

All the Lovely Pieces is the fast paced thriller that tells the story of Drew Baker, a victim of all kinds of abuse from her husband. She was battered, bullied, locked up, told she was crazy, threatened and no one believed her; they all listened to her powerful and rich husband Adam. When she finally got a chance to run- that she did and she kept on doing it for nine years. She took her son, Michael with her and they have been on the move for nine years, never settling into a place for long. Problem is she believes she is on the run for murder- she had to take her son from the Nanny and she has memories of seeing the nannies bloody, lifeless body on the floor.

Michael doesn't know why they are the run and was told his father was dead. Drew and Michael move to a small town called Liberty and start to make friends for the first time. Michael becomes rebellious and wants to spend time with his friends. The parents of Michael's friends start to become Drew's friends. She knows they "shouldn't" allow this and that they may need to leave again sooner, but the more they settle in the harder it will be for them to leave again. Drew is constantly worried about being found and is always on alert in case her husband does find her.

All the lovely pieces is an intense and emotional read. It focuses on a topic that can be hard to talk or read about but needs to be. This book was unputdownable and I finished it in less than 24 hours. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve tried for over a month to get through this book and made it to 25% before finally calling it quits. First, the main character Drew was not likable and I had a difficult time connecting with her. Second, this story felt very familiar in that I’ve read similar stories that were more engaging. I couldn’t find anything in the first quarter of the book that piqued my interest. Last, some of the details didn’t make sense and left too many questions for the story to be believable. Ultimately, I was not invested in the story and didn’t care to see how it ended in spite of all the glowing reviews and promises of brilliant, mind blowing twists.

This book is important and I understand what the author was trying to do here. It may just be me, but the abusive husband domestic thriller is fairly played out by this point so it has to be done almost perfectly for me to enjoy.

This is hard for me to review because there were aspects that I enjoyed. I finished this book in a day, flying through the short chapters. We follow three points of view, Drew’s, her sons and their nanny’s. The main character, Drew, has been on the run from her abusive husband for nine years. This is definitely one of the most abusive husband I’ve read about, I will give it that. The main problem with this for me was the writing style. Instead of showing what is going on, there was a lot of telling. I could infer a lot of what was happening without being told about every two seconds. Both the main character, Drew and the nanny Catherine, were very unlikable. I understood that the author was trying to show how abused they were, but the way the acted sometimes didn’t make sense. I did on the other hand appreciate most of the side characters and wish their point of views were included. Some things that happened were unbelievable and a cheesy. I was a little confused because a lot of reviews were talking about the twists but there were literally no twists. Everything was pretty laid out.

This was a fast paced read that led me wanting to know how it was going to end. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is new to thrillers or isn’t too burned out on abusive husband domestic thrillers.

All the Lovely Pieces is the gripping story of Drew Baker. Abused and kept locked up by Adam, her husband, Drew is terrified. Adam badly battered Drew and this wasn’t the first time. Adam showed no concern as he beat his pregnant wife.

A rich man several times over, Adam is well-respected and feared by those who answer to him. When Adam tells everyone, Drew is mentally ill and should be ignored, no one challenges him and no one attempts to help Drew. Adam took the baby from Drew as soon as it was born. He quickly brought his new-born son to the nanny, Catherine.

Drew is inconsolable. She takes the first chance she gets to snatch her baby from the nanny and flees the house. Drew soon learns she is being hunted and charged with murder. Her memory is terribly muddled and she cannot remember exactly what happened, and how it happened, the day she took her baby from the Nanny.

For the last nine years, Drew and her son have lived life on the run. Michael has never been told why they are constantly moving. All he knows about his father is that he is supposedly dead. But now Drew has moved them to the small town of Liberty. Drew has something important she needs to do in Liberty. While she is working on that, Drew and Michael are welcomed by their small-town neighbors. For the first time in years they make new friends. Nevertheless, Drew will never stop believing that they need to keep on the move to stay safe.

All the Lovely Pieces propels us through the story on an intense, unstoppable and emotional roller coaster ride. It’s nearly impossible to put down this all-consuming story. I highly recommend All the Lovely Pieces for your next psychological-thriller read.

Isn't curling up with a brilliant thriller the perfect way to spend your weekend? I'm a sucker for dark and twisted thrillers, and All the Lovely Pieces was right up my alley. Twisty and gripping, I finished this book in about 5 hour - a very rare event because apart from reading I also love sleeping! This book didn't let me and that just goes to say how brilliant this one is.

Drew Baker and her son Michael have been on the run for 9 long years after escaping from her brutal cruel husband Adam. Focused on protecting her ten-year-old son, Drew reluctantly settles into a small town, eager to find proof of her husband’s true nature so she can stop looking over her shoulder.
But Drew is also on the run from her own terrible crimes—ones that mean prison and separation from her son should the police catch up to her before her husband does. If only she could remember that night and what really transpired…
Without warning, the unthinkable happens, and Drew is plunged into the most nightmarish situation a woman and mother could imagine. Desperate to save her child, Drew takes matters into her own hands, proving that anyone is capable of darkness, and nowhere is safe for those who fear themselves.

Some stories stay with you forever and this is one of those. I can't say much without giving the plot away, but its one helluva brilliant book you'll find very difficult to put down. The story is told from 3 POV's - Drew, Michael, and Catherine. The book is paced well as the mystery unfolds itself. As each twist unveiled, I found myself more and more drawn to the characters of Drew and Michael. The plot and characters both are brilliant. Drew's character is portrayed very very well. If this book is J.M. Winchester's debut in the psychological thrillers genre, I cant wait to see what the next one is like!

Thank You, NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer & J.M. Winchester' for an arc!

P.S.: I only have one question - What happened to Shadow?

4+ Stars!! “All The Lovely Pieces” is a debut psychological thriller by J. M. Winchester that packs a lot of suspense and keeps the pages turning long into the night.

Drew Baker and her nine-year old son have been on the run from her evil and diabolical husband since her son Michael has been an infant. Never putting down roots because the fear of being found by her husband outweighs any happiness Drew could ever create for her and her son. Now, her running has brought her to the small town of Liberty Missouri where she hopes she can find answers to her husband’s evil tendencies, cut ties, and allow her to eke out some semblance of a normal life. Adam Crenshaw, Drew’s husband, is rich, powerful and very well-known to the public for his philanthropy, and one could never believe that he is anything but a good man and loving father and husband.

What I liked most about this book was the pace—Just the right amount of suspense without creating anxiety. Likewise, Ms. Winchester does an excellent job introducing us to the Evil Adam Crenshaw and making the reader hate him and root for his demise. Told through the voices of Drew, Michael and Catherine, Ms Winchester constructs a high level of fear and intensity. Thank you to Netgalley, J.M. Winchester and Thomas & Mercer for providing me with an ARC of this chilling ride in exchange for my honest review. To be published 8/6/19.

Possible trigger warning: talk of domestic abuse

This psychological thriller is told from multiple POVs, which adds to the drama and tension. Drew's fears are palpable. The characters and mystery are well crafted, and the various twists kept me guessing. It's interesting to see all the puzzle pieces fall into place. I've never read anything by this author, but I'll keep a watch for future books.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it was fast-paced and thrilling. It is the first book by this author that I have read and I will be looking out for more! My favourite character was Drew and I found her to have a really strong character portrayal, especially when it came to the subject of her son. Thank you!

A suspenseful quick read perfect for the summer.

Drew is on the run with her boy escaping an abusive husband Adam.
She settles in a new place and started feeling normal, until she feels that her past is catching up with her.
As Drew herself is on the run from the police because of a tragic incident from her past that she can't remember.

There are some nice twists and turns, and Drew is generally a likable character that you feel her plight and root for her.
The story is told from the perspectives of Drew, her son Michael and another damaged woman Catherine who seems to be in love with Adam. I'd have appreciated the perspective of Adam who didn't really pose much of a threat to Drew and didn't seem too keen on chasing her.

Although the ending is predictable and a bit rushed for my taste, I enjoyed the ride to finally see how things come together.

I voluntarily reviewed this book through Netgalley, thanks to Thomas & Mercer, and author J.M. Winchester.

Love, love, love this book. This is exactly the type of book I would normally select if I was browsing in a book store. For me it has everything I look for in a book: fast pace, short chapters, alternative chapters from different character's viewpoints, psychological, thriller and the need to keep on reading. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.

Thank you Netgalley and J.M Winchester for my best summer read so far.

4 out of 5 stars. A quick summer read!

Drew Baker is on the run with her son, Michael, after escaping her brutal husband 9 years ago. Drew finally settles into a small town and begins making friends – a dangerous task for someone who is trying to blend in and never get caught. Drew starts to dive into her past and uncover the truth about her marriage and her husband when things start to get a little too close for comfort.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. A very engaging and quick read. J.M. Winchester was able to create characters that you were really rooting for to succeed. Very satisfying!
J.M. Winchester, Thomas & Mercer, and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

What would you do and how far would you go to protect your child? Drew is forced to confront these questions when she takes her infant son and runs from her abusive husband. The events of what actually happened on the night of her escape are cloudy. After being on the run for nine years, Drew finally decides that she needs to remember what happened so she can protect herself and her son Michael and move on without continuously hiding from Adam.

The story is well told and keeps your interest as the truth is finally revealed. I didn’t necessarily really ‘like’ any of the characters but enjoyed the story anyway. The last page of the book was a bit of a disappointment to me, but that is more my personal opinion and not a reflection of the book’s ending.

Suspenseful and intriguing describe this book perfectly. I was looking for the twist from the very beginning and thought I had solved it within the first two chapters. I was very wrong. I was over half way through the book when I finally caught on to the issues surrounding these characters. Very nail-biting, "I don't want to put this book down." This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed the writing style. It is mainly first person but from each of the four character's perspective. These characters are well developed and relatable, even the villain to a point. I work in a psychiatric hospital so I was fascinated with the mental roller-coaster she puts you on throughout the pages. You never really know what is happening behind closed doors.

4.5 thrilling stars!!

This was my first book by this author but after reading the blurb I just had to read it. It was nail biting suspenseful from beginning to end. In couldn't imagine having to live the way Drew did, always looking over her shoulders and never being able to truly settle down. Living in fear and always being on high alert.....it was an impossible book to put down.

The cover of this book attracted me immediately. It was chilling, fear evoking, terrifying. I love nothing more than a novel that regularly almost forces me to close the cover and hide the book. but not quite, and this book did just that. I couldn't put it down. My heart ached for Drew as she tried to protect her son. I was so hungry to learn of her crime and what really drove her to act as she did. The author did an excellent job of keeping the suspense strong throughout and I was very surprised to learn that Winchester is more famous for her selection of romance novels. This was her first crime suspense novel and I am certain it won't be her last. Her understanding of the intricacies of a criminal mind held me throughout, I couldn't read it fast enough. I enjoyed it immensely. 4 stars from me!!

Who is Drew? Catherine? Adam?? J.M. Winchester’s All the Lovely Pieces is a fast paced, multi-POV story of a woman on the run, the man who seeks to take the only thing she values, and the reader is left to decipher who really is the villain in the story.

While the premise isn’t novel nor is it wholly unpredictable, it’s an entertaining read for the summer,

The synopsis for this book intrigued me from the first few lines and I hoped this would be a good mystery/thriller. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Having a hard time putting it down, I read the book in two sittings!. While I'm not a mother, I found Drew to be relatable in a way that you understand mothers would do anything to protect their child, even if that meant not giving him a normal childhood, always looking over her shoulder and never being able to let her guard down. The lengths she goes to protect her son, figure out what really happened that fateful night and expose her husband's true character, made for a suspenseful plot that kept building. This is a book to add to your summer reading list for sure!
