This was a fairly short, fun read. A dating app that your parents control?!? Sounds like a good time or a nightmare?!?! Add in a foolish bet and you've got this book!! I think this is the perfect summer carefree read. This is my 1st book by @averyflynn but it won't be the last!

Such a unique concept, parents choosing dates for their adult kids through an app. For hockey player, Caleb, using the app is PR for a mistake that went viral. Zara used the app as part of a bet with her friend. But, I have to say her dog was the best part providing comic relief and moments for bonding. They both revealed issues that have shaped them which solidified the seriousness of their relationship. Caleb and Zara had great chemistry, quick witted come backs and serious flirting. Looks to be another great series. My copy came through Netgalley, my review was voluntary.

When you take on everything and nothing at the same time.

This was so fun and the best part was Anchovy. That dog was all human and in control.

This romance showed how rules are made to be broken and all the fun is meant to be had. Past hurt becomes present healing especially when what you see is not always someone's true intentions.

Having your parents pick your dates?

Hockey player Caleb Stuckey screwed up when he and bunch of other team members were recorded talking smack about other players resulting in an ass-chewing from the coach and his mother. Caleb agreed to date 5 times somebody his mother had picked out on an online dating app as a publicity stunt for some good public relations for the team. Miniaturist Zara Ambrose father went to every pipe dream to make money and now he wanted her to go on an online dating app so he could get his screen acting card so Zara went along with his plan.

Both Caleb and Zara didn’t want to date but they figured 5 dates was nothing and then they would be left alone but that all changes when Caleb and Zara start spending time together.

Parental Guidance is related to The Hartigans and the Harbor City series but is a stand-alone leading into a new series but it’s worth spending a week reading all of them. Avery Flynn has written a book that made me laugh and cheer for Caleb and Zara.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Zara Ambrose, a minaturist artist, once again finds herself trying to help her father out by joining Bramble. A dating app with a new parental guidance feature. Let your parents choose your date. Plus she gets a ticket to the library ball with hopes of boosting her business.

Caleb Stuckey, a hockey player is caught in a PR nightmare after a stupid mistake on his part. He hopes to redeem himself by letting his mother pick his Bramble date and updating the public after each date.

It seems like the perfect deal once him and Zara agree to just get through 5 dates. She helps her father out, gets to go to the library ball and Caleb gets the public back on his side.

Parental Guidance was such a blast to read and so funny. Zara is small, sassy and just tells it like it is. Her Great Dane, Anchovy was my favorite! He added so much more fun to the story.

Sports romances are one of my favorite genres, but I'm a bit tired of the cocky athletes in them. When I learned about why Caleb needed to redeem himself, I figured we had yet another cocky, jerk athlete here. That was totally not the case. He's very much a likable, sweet hero from the beginning. It's rather refreshing.
I can't wait to see who's story we get next in the Ice Knights series.

Cute! I enjoyed this quite a lot and I absolutely loved Anchovy!! Caleb and Zara both struggle with being "forced" to date. Neither want a relationship and come up with some rules to avoid it. The rules don't work. This was a good solid read and just missed a 5 for me because I just could not fully connect with Zara. She seemed harsh/angry one minute and then giggly and adorable the next.

5 Star Review Parental Guidance (Ice Knights #1) by Avery Flynn

Avery Flynn is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is. So when the opportunity to read and review book one in a new series came up, I jumped at the chance.

Caleb Stuckey plays for the Ice Knights, it’s all he wants to do. He has been using a dating app but when a situation turns in to a PR nightmare he knows that he’s in trouble. When his mother takes over the app, she chooses Zara Ambrose for his next five dates. Zara has her own issues after betting with her friends, so after all what can go wrong, it’s only five dates?

Zara is sassy and feisty and I loved her. The chemistry between Caleb and Zara sizzles.
I loved the banter between them as they got to know each other and I freely admit to some laugh out loud moments which got me some strange looks on the train. The secondary characters were just as entertaining. This is a story of family and friendships as well as Zara’s awesome dog called Anchovy.

I love stories about ice hockey and Parental Guidance was a great read; I cannot wait to read more in the Ice Knights series.

Oh how I love the worlds that Ms. Flynn creates!

This new spin off is the introduction to the newest series and I floved it!

This is the story of Zara and Caleb.

An arrangement, a PR stunt that turns into so much more.

As with all of Ms. Flynn's stories, the dialogue is fast paced.  It's funny and it's poignant and it's phenomenal!

I enjoyed the alternate POV's. I like being able to get into each main characters head to see how they tick and how they interact with each other.

The back story of both Zara and Caleb was heartfelt and moving.  I so felt for Caleb and his struggles.

The chemistry between these two was epic and the smexy time between the two of them was just wowza!

It was wonderful "seeing" past characters make an appearance and also the introduction to new characters.  This is gonna be an entertaining series!

You can't go wrong with a Avery Flynn story! Get your hands on this!

Wow ....what a great start to the new Ice Knights Series, if this book is anything to go by this author will certainly have a hit series on her hands because this is Avery Flynn at her best !!
Caleb only wants to play hockey but when he finds himself in a PR nightmare he does what is needed and that’s let his mum set him up with the perfect date through a dating site, well what harm will it do to go on 5 dates .......
Zara is a five foot nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who really doesn’t want to be on a date with Caleb but a bet with her friends means she needs to get through these 5 dates so they band together and decide let’s get through this with no feelings, no future and definitely no naked fun......there has to be rules but we all know rules are meant to be broken!!!!
If you want a book that will have you laughing out loud and leave you giggling and smiling like a Cheshire Cat then this is the book for you. The chemistry is sizzling and the banter is witty and flows naturally and once you add in the secondary characters you get the perfect hockey rom com. Can’t wait to get the rest of the Ice Knights stories.

Caleb is a hot shot hockey player (emphasis on the hot) who got caught in a video where some less then positive things were being said. His mom, in an effort to fix his reputation, decides to sign him up for a dating app where he is required to go on 5 dates with someone. Enter Zara! Fiesty as can be, she's a pint sized red head who loves her giant dog & making miniatures. They agree to certain rules before their first date, the main one being that there is no relationship that will come of this. Everything is clear! But when feelings start to change, and they really start to enjoy themselves, will they be able to stick to their rules?

All right ... hockey romances are definitely my thing. This one focused more on the romance, but happened to have lots of hockey involved, and I loved that! I thought Zara was such a great character to read. I wanted her to be my best friend! And I really loved Caleb and how sweet he was to her. Honestly, though, Zara's Great Dane was one of my favorite characters in this book ... I laughed out loud multiple times because of him. This book had the steam, it had the cute, and it had the hockey ... everything I could want! If you're a fan of those things, it's definitely worth picking up!

This was such a cute read! I loved quirky Zara. Her profession was so cool and different. It really made her stand out as a heroine and I loved that she wasn’t the typical female to go immediately gaga for the hero. Caleb was refreshing as well and pairing him up with Zara was perfect. I love opposites attract stories and while these two were extremely different, their chemistry was off the charts. This story was sweet, sexy, funny and had the perfect amount of steam. I’m definite going to check out more from Avery Flynn!

What a fun, sexy read! I loved Caleb and Zara and the slow, steamy development of their relationship. This was an easy read with just the right amount of everything I look for in contemporary rom-com's -- slow burn, well-developed characters and secondary characters, interesting plot, a bit of intrigue and steam. And speaking of secondary characters, I had no idea that some of the characters already had books and I have them and haven't read them yet! Needless to say, I'll be reading Tomboy ASAP. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series because this group of Ice Knight guys are quite interesting! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was a slow burn for me. I loved the modern day romance feel and they way the author incorporated an online dating app since those have taken over the dating world by storm. I found that the book didn’t really pick up pace until about 40% of the way thru but after that it really started to heat up.
I loved the ending and as always I loveddd the epilogue!

I love Parental Guidance. This one had me giggling out loud so many times. If you love hockey, meddling parents, goofy dogs and love that sneaks up on you, then this is one for you. You will love Zara and her dog Anchovy. I love how straight forward and slightly awkward she is. She is sweet and i love the connection she has with her dad. Caleb may be a hockey player but he is so amazing. I love Caleb. He may have made a huge mistake that leds him into a 5 date set up but he makes up with it big time when he meets Zara. I love the awkward start Caleb and Zara have even with their agreement. There is something about these two you can't help but fall in love with. This is such a fun read. I couldn't put it down and enjoyed every moment of Parental Guidance. Pick this one up.

Ms Flynn is an author I started reading regularly with in the last year/18 months - really since the release of Butterface and each read firms up her place on my “one click” list.

Caleb is a character that we have seen briefly before, but didn’t know well before connecting with him in Parental Guidance. He and Zara are both enjoyable and entertaining. They come with some baggage, but it’s the variety that I would expect most people carry in the form of life experience defining how we handle situations. The story arc of Parental Guidance definitely follows the expected pattern, but Caleb and Zara make it their own. I appreciated the honesty that both characters displayed and how even when they messed up, they avoided resentment.

I think one of my favorite things about Ms Flynn’s work is that while each book is a stand-alone, they exist in a world that allows connections- some stronger than others and allows characters from previous works to make appearances in supporting roles bringing everything together. The stand-alone nature of the works means the reader won’t be lost if books are read out of order, but treats are there for those who have read sequentially.

Parental Guidance is everything I want in a romcom!
Zara and Caleb agree to this crazy plan but only for five dates...until he shows her he’s more than a giant of a hottie and she shows him that she’s more than a red-haired spitfire.
I absolutely loved the idea of a dating app with parental involvement and that our hero and heroine planned to work the system only to be bested by mom, dad, and love - with a little help from a Great Dane named Anchovy! The chemistry between Zara and Caleb was perfect as were the banter and emotional reveals.
Avery Flynn is so great at creating scenes that will having you fanning yourself from the sexual chemistry, tearing up at the struggles and feels of the characters, and signing in satisfaction. We also catch up with a few old friends and meet some new ones that are sure to feature in future books. I can’t wait for more of the Ice Knights!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

3.5/5
This was cute and entertaining romance. There isn't anything too deep about this one, but the characters have some great chemistry and I had a fun time reading this.

If you are looking for a cute and quick romance read that does not take itself too seriously, I recommend this one.

After a non flattering video went viral, Caleb needs to do damage control fast. And his PR guru comes up with the idea of letting his mom chose a date for him through an app. The woman is mom chooses is Zara, a miniature artist who made an account on the app to help out her dad and because she was being blackmailed by her best friend.
2 people who do not want to be on the dating app decide they will have 5 dates and they are done, only they didn’t anticipate the attraction.
This was a fantastic read. It was funny, sexy and oh so sweet. I loved the banter between the characters, it was hilarious. Can’t wait to read more of the Ice Knights.

It was a good story of two people getting into each others orbit for the sake of others and finding the right one! I’m not normally a fan of sports romance, usually because it’s about choosing love or the game or something else equally tiresome.

Avery Flynn writes her characters with humor, flaws, strength and passion. Caleb and Zara are great together. Caleb can take Zara’s sharp humor and Zara can get Caleb to relax. Mix-in well meaning parents, good friend and an adorably needy giant dog this book has everything.

I can’t wait to read more of Caleb’s teammates!

Thanks NetGalley for the advanced read!

Avery Flynn has created the perfect Rom-Com. The narrative was original, entertaining, and a little bit steamy. You will be cheering for Caleb and Zara in all their charm. The story is light-hearted and funny and sure to be a crowd pleaser. Flynn skipped the angst and overly emotional tone that a lot of novels in this genre tend to lean towards and provided a highly amusing story of opposites attracting. Great summer read. 4 stars.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #EntangledPublishing for this ARC of #ParentalGuidanceAHotHockeyRomanticComedy
