How to Love a Duke In Ten Days opens with an intense scene that certainly pulled me into the story. From that point, I had to know what would come of Alexandra and what her future would hold. We do know a bit of that going in just from reading the blurb, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Kerrigan Byrne balances darkness and light so well, and she draws her characters equally well. There's no sitting back and watching this one unfold. The writing style pulls you in and makes you experience the emotions along with the characters. The chemistry between Alexandra and Piers is off the charts and I love that Alexandra is such a strong woman. The story is almost fairy-tale like, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.

Enticingly, Delicious! Beautifully written, intensely suspenseful and deliciously sensual. These characters are fabulously crafted and gloriously complicated, who live and breathe and jump off the page at you. The author manages to balance the dark with light, witty humor, heated descriptions, and a sexual tension that adds sizzle to every scene. This story utterly mesmerized me.
Great Love stories have one thing in common: the author’s exquisite ability at storytelling. “How To Love A Duke In Ten Days” transforms from a simple love story to one that enraptures readers with it’s emotion, conviction, and vitality. Beautifully penned, this book is a insta-must read and one that is unputdownable and unforgettable. I loved it!
I voluntarily received a early copy of this story for a honest opinion.
I read a lot of romance novels but I found How to Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne to be one of the most enjoyable stories I've read recently. Byrne sets her book in the past, namely the late 1800s, but fills it with very modern, feminist characters and an intriguing mystery. Lady Alexandra Lane has a secret in her past that threatens to unravel the modern lives she and her two friends have carved out in Victorian England. When invited to the wedding of one of the friends, she meets Piers Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, also known as the Terror of Torcliff due to scars from an attack that mar his features. When an attempt is made on the life of one of the trio, Alexandra hastily convinces Atherton to marry her instead. As they honeymoon at an archeological dig in France, where Alexandra is helping find Atherton's ancestors, they find their passion for each other while at the same time trying to figure out who is the cause of the dangers they encounter. Byrne creates compelling characters that you want to follow and the mystery of the book adds a sense of urgency that most romances lack. One warning -- the sex scenes are quite steamy, so if you like your romance a little more tame, you may want to skip this one. Otherwise, I highly recommend -- you'll devour this book quickly because you can't put it down.
"These men are dark, bold, and brave. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees..."
I've heard nothing but amazing things about Kerrigan Byrne. This was my first venture into the Historical Romance genre and let me just say I love how refined Historical Romance is. I was completely swept away! The start to a brand new series, I fell utterly in love with this story... These characters... The writing. It was brilliant!
Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne... The Terror of Torcliff was everything you want in an alpha male, ladies. A brooding brute with scars and a softie with that sweet side.
Then we have the Red Rogues. Three ladies that form a tight knit friendship. A sisterhood eternally bound by secrets #thesuspense. Lady Alexandra Lane was such a great heroine. Intelligent, driven, and independent especially for her time. She was a survivor with a fierceness to overcome anything.
Enough said about the banter between Piers and Alexandra–it was perfection! My heart soared for these two.
Filled with dark tones, How to Love A Duke in Ten Days had a subtle way of wording with elegance. Not all up in your face and crass, especially when it dealt with a delicate matter. Overall, this novel was a perfect balance of sweet, sexy, and suspenseful. I couldn't get enough of it!
Gahhhh, I loved this book so much! I'm still swooning!! Now, I need to devour more of Kerrigan's words. I'm counting the days for book 2 💃🏼
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Social Butterfly PR. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.*
After suffering a most traumatic event in her last year at boarding school, Lady Alexandra Lane is determined to maintain her distance from men, continuing her education and becoming an archaeologist, a very unusual career for a young woman of her standing. Her best friends, Cecelia and Francesca, stand firmly behind her as they always have, ever since they dubbed themselves the Red Rogues back in school. At Francesca’s invitation, the young women travel to Castle Redmayne, where Francesca is poised to marry Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne.
At the train station, the Duke is helping to unload several horses from a train car when Mercury, a beautiful black stallion, breaks away and runs towards the people on the platform. Alexandra is patiently waiting for Cecelia, and recognizes the danger to several small children, so she grabs the horse’s bridle and manages to calm him, earning the respect of the Duke. When he sees Alexandra at the house party in his castle, he is captivated by her beauty and is stunned when she proposes to him, after only meeting him a day earlier.
This book was fascinating! I expected the standard fluff and stuff – you know what I mean, titled man sees girl across the room, falls madly in love, one rejects the other, and then on the last two pages is the expected HEA. The real and rocky elements in this book made it stand out. Alexandra’s rape and subsequent blackmail, the complete loyalty and the love the Red Rogues had for one another, the true goodness of the Duke…all these things and more led to an interesting tale from an earlier time.
Lady Alexandra Lane an abused and frightened young lady known how to look out for to herself none would ever suspect she has a dark past that still haunts her. Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, is seeking revenge and the first step is securing a bride. Alexandra and Piers meet and before you know it she’s proposing to him and the two strike a bargain his money and an heir for his money. I love these two, they are both wounded souls in their own way, they both need love and acceptance and they find it in each other. The passion is sizzling in the romance of a life time story. An excellent story and one I voluntarily read and reviewed
How To Love A Duke in Ten Days is the first book I have read by Kerrigan Byrne. Historical romance is not my favorite romance to read but I was intrigued by some of the things I had read about this book. It is also the first in a new series so it seemed a good time to try this author’s books. It is a finely structured book concerning The Red Rogue Society, most importantly Lady Alexandra Lane. However, there is much about her two friends too.
The hero to Lady Alexandra Lane is Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne. These are two characters whose past has not been kind to them. Alexandra especially has had a terrible event in her life that still affect her as an adult. The author does not minimize this event but does handle it with sensitivity.
Physical attraction is not a problem for these two, the book can get quite steamy. Instead Alexandra and Pers have baggage and major trust issues. Still they are strong and if vulnerable. Conflicting feeling keep their relationship from developing and yet is a reason that they continue to build that relationship. There is mystery and secrets to add to this romantic tale. I can recommend to fans of romance not just historical romance.
This story blew me away. I loved all the characters. The story pulled at my heart, challenged my deductive thinking, and had me smiling. The beginning was on the dark side (which I like in my stories), and the story took off through blackmail, attempted murder, love, family, friends, and a hard won HEA. Alexandra and Piers are now one of my favorite couples. I so look forward to the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
This was a very good read by one of favorite authors. The new series is entertaining and had me at first chapter. The characters are well developed with thoughts and feelings of their own. I truly liked how the author brought two lonely souls who were made for each other.
Lady Alexandra Lane is one remarkable woman who know how to handle herself. She looks after number one but now her family is in jeopardy because of bankruptcy. She is also paying a blackmailer to keep quiet about her past. Alexandra need to do the only thing she can do. She will marry the wealthiest bachelor who is classified as a devil of a rake.
Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, is one hot and handsome man who has an agenda. He needs to get a bride, but his reputation is not all it's cracked up to be. So being called the Terror of Torcliff isn't easy in finding a mate. Piers meets the beautiful Alexandra who wants him to marry her. She has her own agenda concerning the money she needs to keep paying. It's her secret, but she will not tell Piers. He has secrets of his own, but he knows one thing, he will keep Alexandra safe from whatever is haunting her.
Love has a way of creeping in while these two aren't looking for a happy ever after.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.
Kerrigan Byrne is an author whose name keeps popping up, especially in Read Me Romance podcasts. It got me intrigued enough to give her a chance and How To Love A Duke In Ten Days did not disappoint.
This book isn't for the faint of heart, it definitely hits uncomfortable topics that are glossed over or ignored completelt in most historical romance novels. The dedication in itself gives that away without being a spoiler.
Alexander Lane is the female that we all aspire to be; smart, pretty, courageous, with a backbone of pure steel and a fiery determination that goes perfectly with Piers Redmayne. Piers isn't the easiest person to like, in all honesty, but he has integrity and a heart that slowly opens up your own heart for him.
But don't take my word for it. Give the book a shot, read it. You won't be disappointed.
Wow y'all. This book was amazing, and heartwrenching, and brilliant, and tragic, and beautiful, and romantic, and so spectacular. I don't read a ton of historical romance, so this was my first book by this author. But, I loved her words, and she'll be on my must list now, for sure.
The first thing I feel the urge to say is TAKE THE DEDICATION AS A CONTENT WARNING!!! And be prepared. Boy I was not ready, and the trauma came right up on me, there in the prologue. I could feel the terror coming, and I started to get upset before anything really even happened. Then, I was sobbing, and I couldn't stop for a while. It's not particularly difficult to get me to cry a bit, or tear up, while reading a book, but the volume of upset and tears I experienced here is definitely not typical. I was utterly heartbroken before the story even really started.
Lady Alexandra Lane had a blessed life. Daughter of an Earl, she was sent to a prestigious girls boarding school for her education. There she met her two lifelong best friends, Cecilia, and Francesca. They all had some shade of red hair, so they formed the Red Rogues Society, their secret club where they talked about, and DID, all the things that as proper ladies, they weren't supposed to. Until one night terror visited Alexandra, and nothing was ever the same again. Her friends were there for her, and helped her to begin moving on. They made a pact never to marry, and they each went out into the world to become exactly who they wanted to be. Alexandra became a doctor of history at the Sorbonne, and an archaeologist. She's obsessed with ancient people, and cultures, and artifacts. Lately, her father's wealth has fallen on hard times, and she's not sure what they'll do. When she's summoned to a masquerade ball to announce Francesca's engagement to the mysterious Duke of Redmayne, she's not sure what to think. But, she knows her friend needs her, so she goes there immediately.
Piers Gedrick Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne, almost died in an animal attack while hunting. When he returned after 3 months of healing, he found his fiancee married to his cousin, the next in line for Piers' title. Now, he wants to make sure neither of the horrible couple ever gets what they want. That means he needs heirs ASAP. So, he's decided to honor the engagement agreement his late father made for him, when Piers was a child. He knows that he and Francesca have no chance of a "happy" life together, as they don't particularly care for each other, but most people of their station don't like their spouses, much less love them, so he's not too concerned. Until he meets a fearless, unexpected beauty on a train platform, and it changes his life for good. If he can avoid whoever is trying to kill his fiancee (or is it one of her friends??), he might just change his mind about a loveless marriage.
Piers and Alexandra had instant chemistry, but due to Alexandra's past, and her inexperience, she doesn't understand it at first. She just knows she feels safe with him, even when someone might be trying to off her. Alexandra is trying to help Francesca discover who murdered her family, and they've found some info at Piers' home to set them in the right direction. In order to free Francesca up for her revenge plot, and to help Alexandra deal with her own family issues, she offers herself as a bride to Piers instead. Neither of them really have any clue what they're in for.
There was a bit of a mystery plot here where there was a concerted effort to kill one of 4 characters. This was rolled out excitingly, first trying to discover who the intended target actually was, and then trying to figure out who wanted them dead, and for what purpose. It kept me guessing, and was a great side plot along with the intimacy of the main characters' growing romance. Alexandra's best friends were so awesome. Every woman wishes for some ride or die besties like these, and I loved their close friendship. They were truly there for each other, no matter what, and I loved seeing them constantly show up for one another.
Piers and Alexandra's love was hard fought, and I adored their story. I loved how fierce Alexandra was, fighting for all the people she loved, but especially for Piers. Piers never really understood the meaning of family, and having people to depend on, until Alexandra. Their fall was a slow burn, while there was still plenty of heat along the way. In taking this journey with them, you can see how they fell into love so deeply in 10 days, as you fell right along with them.
This story was beautifully written. The author's words were so evocative, and I loved her tone, and pacing. As I said, the prologue was traumatic, but even while the horror was happening, I could recognize the beauty of the author's writing. The events were truly tragic, and the memories of them won't leave me for a long time. That, to me, is the mark of a magical writer. I know many readers love ALL THE ANGST in their romances, but I typically don't go looking for that. I don't like to feel emotionally manipulated, but I DIDN'T feel that way here at all. The events were a vital part of the heroine's story, and they shaped her life, and how she chose to live it, for a very long time. The author seemed to choose each word lovingly, and with great care, and I was transported, even when I would have rather remained an outsider.
I loved these characters, and this story. I would definitely recommend this book, with the warning of the traumatic memories it might evoke for some survivors of sexual violence. I am so looking forward to learning more about Cecelia and Francesca, and I cannot wait for their stories.
You know that giddy feeling you have when you're just into the start of a book by an author that's new to you and you realize you've been gifted gold. That's how I felt reading How To Love a Duke In Ten Days. Now, I will say that there is something very traumatic that seventeen-year-old Alexandra Lane experiences that set my heart racing and plummeting. In the same light, revenge is swiftly delivered. But nevertheless, what she endures is horrible and heartbreaking and I needed to know she would be alright. We also quickly learn about her fellow Red Rogues; Francesca, and Cecelia, who bond with Alexandra to help her heal as the three of them forever swear off marriage and children.
Ten years on, the ladies gather for an unexpected event. One that quickly exposes Alexandra to danger as she meets Piers Atherton, Duke of Redmayne (a.k.a, The Terror of Torcliff). But Kerrigan Byrne surprises the reader with a twist that leads to a wonderful story about the healing power of love and hope and the path is absolutely delicious. The connection between Piers and Alexandra is pure magic and the mutual seduction heartstopping. I truly fell in love with Byrnes' storytelling. It's sweet, sexy, suspenseful, and exceeded my palpability "test". I felt so immersed in their story, the developing emotional intimacy between them, and the danger they face.
This is a beautiful historical romance that consumed me from start to finish. It truly has everything I love in genre, the escape to the past and of the brave and bold woman breaking through their social constraints. I am very much looking forward to reading some of Byrnes backlog and this series. 5 Stars and recommendation!
How to Love a Duke in 10 Days is the first book in Kerrigan Byrne’s new series, Devil You Know. I’m so glad I accepted an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley, to read and review in advance of publication. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
What an exciting reading experience! From the first scene until the last, I was completely enmeshed in this thrilling, high suspense romance. Ms. Byrne’s superior skills with Regency romance is evident immediately. This is the best historical I have read this year.
Lady Alexander Lane’s character captured me from the prologue. What happens to her is a woman’s worst nightmare. No wonder she spends ten years disguising her femininity and fearing the dark side of men. She paints them all with the same brush and with powerful reason.
When she meets Piers, the Duke of Redmayne, she only sees a roughly dressed man with a powerful, physical presence. Yet instead of her old demons bursting forth, she’s amazed at her lack of true fear, even though she witnesses his fierce side. She is shocked when she realizes he is none other than the duke who is to wed her friend, one of their bonded trio, bound by each other’s secrets.
Piers is an intriguing hero with great depth. He not only bears the physical scars from a brutal attack, hidden inside, is plenty of hurt from a childhood fraught with disappoint and disillusionment. My heat ached for him. Although he has great reason to distrust women, there is something about the bookish, anthropologist that calls to him, and he accepts her astonishing offer to take Francesca’s place as his bride. Thus, begins a tale of adventure and mayhem.
The chemistry between Alexandra and Piers jumps off the page! Even though she has a terrifying fear of men and anything sexual, she cannot deny her overwhelming attraction, nor can Piers deny his compelling desire for her. Ms. Byrne masterfully builds the sexual tension from their first meeting and keeps it growing throughout the book until the very end. That’s my favorite aspect of historical romance, and her mastery thoroughly entranced me!
If you enjoy historical romance, then you will love How to Love a Duke in 10 Days as much as I. This book is rich with all the aspects that will call to your love of this sub-genre. This is a novel with complex characters that will pull at your heartstrings, and it has an action-packed plot that will have you waiting breathlessly for the next suspenseful scene. This is an amazing start of an incredible new series. Ms. Byrne has set her bar high, and I can’t wait to read the next book. Happy reading!
Kerrigan Byrne is definitely one of my favorite history romance writer ever. This story about two scarred souls, Lady Alexandra Lane and Piers Gedrick Atherton, The Duke of Redmayne.
When the fierce and strong woman proposed marriage to save her family honor and making a deal with one of the healthiest man, someone who people were feared, with a reputatio
n of a devil, I knew things would be so much interesting.
From the moment these two met, damn my heart just melt, I felt this intense connection about this first meet (not so cute), holding so much intensity and something that I would be eager to feel throughout their story. I wasn’t disappointed at all. On paper these two would be such a mismatched couple but in real life it was definitely something else.
Lady Alexandra Lane was my kind of heroine, the one you couldn’t not fall in love with, a survivor and strong woman who didn’t need a man… until now. I appreciated her witty personality and passion about her work, how she wasn’t letting anyone ruling her life. A mix of assurance but at the same time so fragile.
Educated and owing it but it seemed that trouble suited her and following her shadow in every place. She was an intriguing and interesting character. With her two best friends, Cecilia and Francesca, they created a bound for life, united on the best and bad times.
The Duke of Redmayne, Piers was also a favorite character of mine. This complex man seeking revenge and trying to secure a wife didn’t know what hit him when he met her, a woman who would bring him down to his knees and bringing emotions he’s never felt before, probably his undoing for the worse but mostly for the best. I loved reading his thoughts about Alexandra and how she knew exactly push his button without even trying, it just clicked and so right. An honor man who knew how to hide his real self and protect from the world, letting them see the “monster” they wanted to see.
I adored watching these two getting to know each other, to learn how to trust and falling in love. Their banter was marvelous , from angst to lust and the sparks totally there and when it comes to the steamy parts… and oh my! So sensual, primal and feral but also tender and gentle.
I didn’t need ten days to fall in love with a Duke, just a few pages, that’s all! This story is definitely a top favorite and I can’t wait to read about Alexandra’s friends who are going to meet their match!! An emotional journey that took my breath away.
Enthralling, passionate, steamy and so freaking romantic!!
Right up my alley!
How To Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne 4 stars
Trigger Warnings : sexual assault, PTSD, manslaughter
After reading the beginning of this book, I almost put it down.. I'm glad I didn't ... after a very disturbing beginning the rest of the book got very interesting. I think this book is book one of a planned trilogy about three girls, Alexandra, Cecelia and Francesca who form close bonds in a boarding school. They also share a dark secret that will be central plot point in this book. They all vow never to marry for different reasons but fate has a way of laughing at plans.
Alex receives a SOS from Francesca and waiting for a ride from Cecelia she encounters the hero of the story, Piers Atherton, the Duke of Redmayne (the Terror of Torcliff). He is a scarred but manly man who stirs up an unwilling instant attraction in Alex. What ensues is a lot of flirting, witty repartee and touching. But all is not well because in addition, the characters must face physical attacks, blackmail and secrets and misunderstandings.
I enjoyed the book after the distressing Prologue and look forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins Paperbacks for this ARC.
How to Love a Duke in Ten Days a heartbreaking, evocative read. It’s a tale of survivors, strength, healing, and love. Kerrigan Byrne has a talent for penning vivid, lush romances that suck me right in and this book was no exception.
I want to start by giving a trigger warning: Alexandra is a rape survivor and the night she was raped is depicted in the prologue. The assault, the pain, the invisible scars she carries and how her life was changed forever are all central to the plot. It tore at my heart and I teared up at least once over the course of the story. I appreciated the way Ms. Byrne handled sexual assault and the impact it has on survivors. Alexandra is brilliant, strong, loving, and vulnerable and she grabbed my heart. I wanted her to find happiness with Piers, the so-called “Terror of Torcliff.” Piers’s scarred visage and brute strength turn off many, but not Alexandra. I loved that his strength was matched by softness, that he was someone she could lean on. The two of them have fantastic chemistry. Scenes between them fairly crackle with energy and they’re a perfect match in every way. I adored their wit and banter; I’m hoping they show up in future Devil You Know books because they can be so much fun together.
Piers and Alexandra each have their own reasons for wanting to marry even though they’re practically strangers. And once they’re wed, their histories mean that trust isn’t easily given. Their romance has its fair share of obstacles and setbacks while their burgeoning bond is fragile. There were a few times I wanted to shout at Piers, to make him see what he’s missing, but given his past experiences his blind spots are understandable. How to Love a Duke in Ten Days isn’t an easy read, emotionally speaking. But there’s beauty and hope in Piers and Alexandra’s romance and I loved that.
How to Love a Duke in Ten Days is the first book in the Devil You Know series and it also introduces the Red Rogues, Alexandra and her two best friends. Alexandra, Cecilia, and Francesca’s friendship is as important to the story as the romance. Their bond, their pure love and support of one another is a treasure. Each of these strong, vibrant women is compelling in their own unique way and I cannot wait to read Cecilia and Francesca’s books.
Lady Alexandra Lane, Lady Francesca Cavendish and Cecelia Teague created the Red Rogues Society so they could read the books they wanted and drink wine while at a school in Switzerland. They are ready to graduate when the headmaster raped Alexandra. The girls killed and buried him with the help of the groundskeeper Jean-Yves who Cecelia hired as her protector.
Ten years later the girls reunite for Francesca’s wedding and to find out why she is in danger. Alex takes the train to her destination to discover no one has yet arrived to take her to the estate. While watching a horse be unloaded, it escaped and was frightened. She grabbed the horse’s rope, talked to and turned him in circles to calm him. A man she assumes is the trainer took the horse from her. She finds out later he is the Duke of Redmayne, (Piers Atherton) Cecelia’s betrothed. The next morning the women go to the ruined medieval fortress to look for artifacts. Piers discovers them and luckily sees a glint of metal. They get down but can’t tell who shot at them. Francesca doesn’t want to marry Piers and vice versa. Piers wants to marry Alexandra, but does she want him?
Kerrigan Byrne writes amazing books that have complex characters, great story lines and are hard to put down. My review is only a small part of this book to entice you to discover what happens. I loved it and can easily recommend it. 5+stars
Well Ms. Byrne, I must say that you just blew me away with How To Love A Duke in Ten Days! Wow! This was an outstanding novel! I was sucked into the storyline right away and you kept me there until the end. There was never a moment where I even somewhat lost interest. I was completely engrossed in this story and the characters. I'm so impressed. When my reading schedule frees up, I'm jumping into your backlist with both feet....
This book starts off with a difficult and shocking prologue that sets the stage for the entire book. From the prologue, you get a good understanding of what events bonded Alexandra and her friends, Francesca and Cecilia. It is this dark history that is haunting Alexandra as we enter into the story itself and Alexandra is traveling to meet up with her friends, where she believes one of them is soon to be engaged. This is shocking in itself because long ago, these three young women, known to themselves as the Red Rogue Society, pledged to never marry and give men power over them. For this reason, Alex suspects Francesca is not a willing participant in the impending engagement. It's a twisty story to say the least but eventually Alexandra ends up being the one to marry. She marries Piers who is the Duke of Redmayne. Piers has scars on one side of his face from an animal attack. These scars and some other experiences Piers has been through make him very insecure and untrusting of the fairer sex. Alexandra has her own issues and is very unsure how to handle herself around Piers. The irony is that they both bear scars with the only difference being, you can see some of Piers' scars but Alexandra's are all hidden within.
Alexandra and Piers maneuver their way through a marriage that is initially based on what basically amounts to a business transaction but evolves into so much more. The chemistry between these two is scorching hot! On top of that, I absolutely loved watching them fall in love with each other even when they didn't want to acknowledge it. Then when Piers realizes the secret that Alexandra has carried around for years, his reaction with her is absolutely heartbreaking. His love and dedication overflows and is boundless. He is such a wonderful man. Gah! Best Book Husband Ever!
This book had so much to offer. There was not just a well written romance with two damaged individuals who finally find their HEA, it was also a mystery. There will be two more books written in the series, I assume one for each of Alexandra's friends and it looks like they are both slated to be out in 2020. I can't wait to get my paws on both of them to see what is next for this group of friends!
Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Great start to a new series. From the minute I started this book I was rooting for Alexandra. I thought both Alexandra and Piers were likable leading characters. I was happily surprised how I really could "feel" what Alexandra was going thru. Without giving spoilers she had an event as a teen that changed her forever and how she continually deals with it is admirable. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
How To Love A Duke In Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne
This is my first book by this author. And I can’t wait to read more from her! This story was so well-written the emotions just poured from me as I read. From a terrifying and violent happening in her past, Lady Alexandra and her two closest friends were forever bonded together. They come together ten years later as one is set to marry. Piers Atherton, Duke of Redmayne, or Terror of Torcliff as he is now known, plans to marry to exact revenge on his former love and his cousin whom she quickly married when she thought Piers would not survive an attack and that the Title would pass to his cousin. Sparks fly between Alexandra and Piers, even though Alexandra hasn’t had anything to do with men for the past ten years. As a reader, you know what has happened to Alexandra, what she has suffered and kept secret. I couldn’t stop this page-turner, wanting so bad for Piers to figure it out. As the two of them find themselves drawn to each other, more danger erupts around them and you just don’t know where it is coming from and who it is directed at. And you just can’t stop reading because you want to know it all!!! Now I look forward to the next two stories about her two friends. In the meantime, I’ll go and read previous titles from this author! Thank you, NetGalley for this copy to enjoy and review. #netgalley #howtoloveadukeintendays
