When Jo's teenage daughter goes missing, she feels like the world is collapsing around her.
The police believe Grace is just an angry teenager, punishing her parents by hiding out at a friend's house, but Jo is terrified that her daughter is in grave danger. With so little urgency from the police, Jo decides to take matters into her own hands but, as Jo gets closer to discovering what has happened to her daughter, a devastating secret is uncovered that threatens to destroy the family she has been trying so very hard to protect...
Ok wow! I don't get stunned by books like this very often. I went in thinking I knew what was going to happen but nope! This author is one to watch, I loved this book. That ending really threw me!

Deceive Me is a menacing, addictive thrill ride that takes you to the beautiful island of Cyprus and into the lives of the Appleton family as their worlds get turned upside down when their teenage daughter goes missing without a trace, and everyone seems to have something, past or present, they’re willing to do anything to hide.
Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat threw out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go I found this book thrilling the characters were fantastic and well thought out and the little clues all the way threw keep you guessing until the end this book stays with you long after you close the book this book is well worth the read I promise you wont be disappointed
After relocating to Cyprus, for the sake of her family, Jo's 16 Year old daughter Grace goes missing, and Jo is doing all she can to track her down. At the same time she is re-living her life as a 17 year old, the year before Grace was born, when she lived and worked in Cyprus.
Deceive Me is a story in two parts, told together, and ultimately converging to create a fantastic tale with the ever expected, and yet still completely unforeseen, twist in the tail.

A great read and one that I read in a day! Lots of twists and turns and a shocking twist at the end that I really didn't see coming. Definitely looking forward to more from the author!
One of a mom’s greatest fears, her daughter is missing and the police have pretty much written it off as a runaway. Mom isn’t so sure and does what she can to find her daughter. But risks her own secrets being revealed- gave me some chills. Good thriller, hold your kiddos close!

Well I certainly wasn't expecting that.
After two months of not being able to pick up a book, I randomly grabbed this one and started reading. I flew through it to start with, but as we neared the end, we got some information about Jo's past and it was an incredibly hard read. It took me a little while to be able to finish after that.
However, despite that, this book was great. I had so many ideas in my head about where this story was going, but I ended up being completely surprised. An excellent twisty book.
I downloaded this at a time I wanted to read this, however years have passed now and I am not longer interested in reading this.
I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for am honest review. I've previously read 'deliver me' by this author and loved it so I had high expectations for this one. I was not disappointed! I quickly became engrossed in the story and couldn't put the book down. The reason for Grace disappearing totally shocked me! A great twist that came out of the blue. I definitely recommend Karen Cole and am excited to read her next book 'deny me'.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it very much. The ending blew me away - I would never have guessed it.
've read hundreds (possibly thousands) of thrillers/mysteries, and I've written several of them as well. In other words, it takes a lot for a thriller to truly shock me, but Deceive Me did exactly that. And I don't just mean in a 'that was a great twist,' kind of way, but in a jaw hanging open, 'wow, I can't believe the author went there' kind of way. Not just once, either. The last portion of this book is full of several twists and turns that I defy anyone to honestly say they saw coming.
The basic setup is this: Grace, a 16-year-old living in Cyprus with her mother, step-father, and brother, disappears from school one day. Her family launches an exhaustive search to try to find her, but their efforts only seem to make things murkier. Grace's friends and boyfriend are evasive and, in some cases, flat out hostile. The authorities take a much closer look at the family than either parent is comfortable with. And soon, Grace's mother can't help but cast a suspicious eye on pretty much everyone.
What happened to Grace? And why? These are questions that set off an explosive chain reaction of stunning revelations. Most of the book flows in a way that's easily familiar to thriller fans and could have gone down any of a long list of easily guessable, mundane solutions. Karen Cole's ending gives readers so much more than the norm, though, and that makes this one of 2019's must-read thrillers.
I have no words that can really give this book credit. It started off slow and steady with a girl going missing from her home. The flashbacks in time featuring her mother soon makes sense, and then the ending..... I did not expect the story twist and even the one after that! Wow.

Thanks to NetGelley and the publisher for an early copy of Deceive Me in exchange for an honest review.
The ending of this book did it for me. For a while I was thinking that I had been here, seen this and done this before. Missing child, hurting parent. Not to take away from the loss of a child, but I was worried this was going to be a book I had read before. However, the ending really threw me for a loop and it made the entire book worth the read. Super fun last few chapters - glad I took this ride.

3 stars.
Secrets will all be revealed in this story, Deceive Me by Karen Cole. This was a good story throughout. I had not expected it to turn out the way it did so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Plus the ending?! I again hadn't expected that.
The story starts out with Jo, the mother last having seen her Daughter, Grace, in the morning, entering the school she attends. That same day she's back at the school to pick up both of her kids, but panic soon starts as she can only find one of them. Her son. Her Daughter is nowhere to be found and she quickly discovers that Grace had not attended any classes that day.
While the story was good, it was only just good. Meaning it was not this huge psychological thriller it had been described as. So for that reason it was a bit of a let down. Still, I'm glad I read it but I wouldn't re-read it.
