I would recommend this book to everyone who is looking for a contemporary romance that will guarantee you a ride on a great emotional roller coaster! And those who are looking for a book to escape from their reading slumps as well!
This book about individuals who had a meeting after the heroine, Laura accepted and crushed one the challenges issued to her on the property of the hero Max, could almost be seen as a meet cute.Laura is a spunky, brave, brash woman who doesn't balk at serious, sometimes dangerous challenges is flawed and vulnerable where it counts. She lives in the present because the past holds unpleasant ,potentially lethal consequences and the future may not happen.Max recognizes the facade she wears for the world to see and spends time to unmask the real Laura and possibly a future to anticipate.Loved the family dynamics on show and was rooting for this couple to come out stronger and together in the end.Interesting story and while the flow was a sticking point for me , in the end it all came together.
This was a fantastic read. The author had all the right elements to make this story engaging, memorable and captivating to keep the reader in the story to the end.
Yours to Give is a well written romance. Fast paced plot. Couldn’t put this book down and finished in a couple of sittings. Recommend to romance readers. Thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Laura is an international YouTube sensation. She gets and accepts all different kinds of challenges from her fans all around the world and does them. Laura is at Max’s hotel and he sees her do a dangerous stunt on a mountain bike. Max is attracted to her daring and charm. Than Laura’s fans challenge her to date Max. Max goes one step further and challenges her to a six month marriage to him. Laura didn’t believe in long term relationships or marriage but still accepts. It would be high publicity for them both. Max knows that can only help his resort. Max does take the time to get to know Laura and she lets him see the real her. Max falls for her but keeps it to himself. Laura has insecurities that she doesn’t let people see.
I liked this book a lot. Max and Laura’s chemistry was hot. I liked the new Zealand setting as I had never read that setting before in a book I had read. I liked the plot and pace. I feel if Max and Laura had communicated it would have saved them pain but I also understand why they acted as they did. I loved how Max loved Laura unconditionally. I liked that he took the time to get to know laura and that she ;et to see the real her. I choked up at times while reading this book. I loved the surprise at the ending. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.
Adrenaline junkie Laura and hotelier Max meet by chance at his lodge where she is taking part in a YouTube challenge. From the first he is fascinated by her and in particular the glimpses he gets of her private persona. A spur of the moment impulse sees the challenge of a 6 month marriage proposed and accepted. This turns into a fairground ride that neither can get off until Laura’s past comes back to affect her life. This was set in the very modern world of the online blogger/celebrity; it is not particularly deep but is a lighthearted way to while away an hour or two.
Unfortunately, at this point I am DNF this book. I really tried to give it an honest go as the story line is intriguing. However, the dialogue is so basic and the conversations are dull. I know a lot of people really liked this book, I may revisit in the future, but for now it just isn't for me.
I am giving this book 2 stars because I made it about 50% of the way and the story line was the only thing that kept me going. It was a really cool concept, unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the writing kept me from continuing on.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a beautifully, emotional and fun love story. Max becomes attracted to Laura after watching her do a dangerous stunt on a mountain bike. He's intrigued by her daring and compelled by her charm. One thing leads to another and Laura's fans challenge her to date Max. He ups the challenge to marriage as a publicity stunt for financial gain. Although neither are thrilled by the situation, Max takes that time to get to know Laura and falls deeply in love with her.
I really loved Max determination to break through Laura's fears and vulnerability. He challenges her to live not just for the thrill of a moment but to live for the knowledge of love. Laura has a few secrets of her own and isn't as fearless and she portrays and yet I was captivated by her strength and willingness to let Max see her as she truly was. It was a risk worth taking because he supports and loves her scars and all. Bravo!
I enjoyed this book as a short novel. Laura, on the surface, seeks to one-up herself by ever-seeking challenges that try her physical and, therefore mental, self. In doing that, she has developed a global social-networked following with some who are with her in her travels, paparazzi and groupies that she has befriended and who give her some space but, not much.
Laura meets Max, owner of a hotel in Queensland, NZ, as she flies over a barrier and lands, literally in the front of his hotel. He’s intrigued and, as she’s gorgeous, seeks her out. She’s the obligatory flippant and he one-ups her into eventually challenging the ultimate challenge – marriage to which she, crazily, agrees. They marry, thinking for six months, then an annulment. I won’t spoil the story but it is chaste and ends in HEA, as expected with even more drama with Laura in hospital for heart surgery (read the book).
One of the pleasures of reading is to learn about the places featured in the book. I have been to Queenstown and have spent over a year on the south island so know it fairly well. And we could have been anywhere in the world for all the description of it provided. I think NZ’s south island is one of THE MOST GORGEOUS in the world and to have is glossed over like it’s nothing killed me when reading this book. What a waste of location!!!
