If I could rate this higher I would, for Aiden Kerrigan and Rose MacLaren's story was truly magical for me. I had wanted to know their full story since his name appeared in this author's Order of the Dragon Knights Series. Aidan has intrigued me throughout and now having read his story it gripped my heart in various ways. Such as happiness and sadness are just some of the feelings I am left with.
Aidan is the Leader of the Fenian Warriors and a Royal Fae as well. Rose is a member of the Thistle Society. These two have a destiny to fulfill. One that takes you on an intense journey.
I can highly recommend not only this story in the Fenian Warriors Series, but also the Dragon Knights Series. This author did a phenomenal job with both of these series. I would read them in order to get the full picture. You will not regret it. Submerge yourself in these Scottish realms for true enjoyment!
Outstanding.....absolutely outstanding! I cannot find the words to say how much I loved this story and how much I adored Aidan and Rose. Such amazing and strong characters, she as a human and he as a Fae Warrior. Their love for each other consumed me and I felt every emotion they felt....that's how good the writing is!
You will be brought into a world filled with magic and secrets of the ancients, the Fae. You will also be brought into the human world where one woman is close to discovering their secret. When Aidan is sent to stop her, his heart takes over everything he has ever been taught and believed in. His love for Rose will make him choose the human world but at such a horrific cost, he may not even survive it! Only Rose can bring him back....
Oh and another thing....I just KNEW Nessie was real!!!!! lol
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Aidan Kerrigan' and Rose MacLaren 's tale will enthrall the reader from the first pages and sweep one into the realm of the Fae. This is book four in Legends of the Fenian Warriors series and this author never disappoints. Settle into a comfy chair and enjoy.
Ebook from net galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
A love destined in the stars! The greatest Fae Warrior and a inquisitive human botanist forge a love that is stronger than the great Fae magic. Love truly is the strongest power! Mary has crafted an epic love story of Fae proportions that showcases why she was meant to be a storyteller. The is some of the finest fantasy romance!
Aidan Kerrigan is a prince of the Fae. His sister is the Queen, descendants of the God Angus Og and extremely powerful. He is the powerful leader of the Fenian Warriors, guardians of the Fae and human world charged to keep the timelines in harmony. He guides the warriors and oversees the training the future warriors occasionally taking a quest into the human world. He's been charged by his brother-in-law the King to take out a threat. It seems an inquisitive human Rose MacLaren of the Society of the Thistle, is close to discovering the origins of the Fae by examining ancient stone etchings left from the Fae's time on earth. This cannot happen so Aiden, the Fenian warrior's strongest & wisest warrior is charged with making sure this won't happen. His sister, Queen Nuala who has the gift of sight, cautions him that she sees two paths for him, both leading to destruction! So this is his mental set as he travels to earth in 1986. Little does he know he's about to meet a woman who will hold his heart and he'll have to give up his Fae heritage to become human to be with her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Aidan Kerrigan is the leader of the Fenian Warriors including the Brotherhood and could do no wrong well at least in his mind. Aidan is also the exalted brother of Queen Nuala who is also Queen of the Fae. When Aidan is tasked to fix a mistake on a stone on Earth that could lead to the discovery of the Fae he knows that this is something that will be concluded early with no problems until he meets Rose MacLaren. Aidan is at first curious and astonished by Rose’s intelligence. Aidan is also stunned by her unraveling the mystery of the Fae and knows that he must hide it. As Aidan gets closer to Rose he can’t help his attraction to her either. Aidan can’t figure out what secrets Rose holds that continually keep him spellbound to her but knows his attraction to her is dangerous to his world. The more Aidan tries to resist Rose the more he falls deeper in love with her. When everything is revealed including Aidan’s love for Rose it not only could destroy him but both their worlds as well. Can Aidan do his duty or will love take down one of the strongest warriors ever?
Just when you think that there are no more stories to tell in the Fenian Warriors Series this book comes along and gets everyone all excited about yet another Fenian Warrior. Actually the first Fenian Warrior who shows up in the Dragon Knights books. So yes his story is legendary and made us wonder what exactly his story was so it’s great to actually get to read it. Of course since a lot of us know what happens to him this was a bit bothersome and knowing the fact that he risks everything for love doesn’t even get him back where he was, really gives no heartfelt feelings for the Fae or that they are truly forgiving no matter what light they are portrayed in. The worlds of Ireland, Scotland which are true places and even the Fae are not hard to even imagine wishing that the Fae world really is an actual place. The characters are even wonderfully drawn and easily seen. Aidan the arrogant handsome Fenian Warrior might seem all powerful but to be taken down by a mere human is nice to see that makes him much more relatable and easy to fall for too. Rose is a great heroine; she’s beautiful, smart and brave. That makes her likable but hard not to feel a little bit jealous of her. Still the story is quite magical that not only everyone will enjoy but humans and Fae supposedly live harmoniously with each other is a nice thought too. Hopefully there will be more stories of the Fenian Warriors or of the Fae and most of all the humans that inhabit this world!
Aidan Kerrigan’s moral compass leads his every thought, feeling and emotion. As the leader of the Fenian Warriors, he has a responsibility to be an example to those men he mentors. There is no space for emotion, yet alone love. But when a situation surfaces, he’ll have to use every ounce of willpower to resist the alluring beauty Rose MacLaren, a Society of the Thistle member. What she uncovers will change both fae and human realms forever. Aiden pushes away her advances but in a moment of clarity, he realizes his destiny is walking through life with Rose. Will she accept him as the man he is and will she wait for him when he sacrifices all for her love?
I have read snippets of Aiden’s and Rose’s love story in past books and I was so excited when Mary Morgan told me she’d written their story. I had high expectations and was interested in how the story would play out. I was not disappointed. In fact, I truly believe this is Mary Morgan’s best book to date.
Continuity is a huge thing for me, especially when it comes to a series. I remember certain details from previous books and in Destiny of a Warrior, these threads are woven throughout the story. Even small details are brought forward with more clarity in this book. Well done, Mary Morgan!
The reason why I say this is the best book of Mary Morgan’s career is the emotional attachment the reader feels for the characters. There are several obstacles which Aiden and Rose have to overcome before they can be together. Aiden must open his heart to the possibility of love while Rose must open her spirit to the magic within Aiden. The struggle is real within them both and there were times I cried aloud for them to confess their true feelings for one another.
There’s one scene where Rose is close to breaking down, her heart split open and anguish pouring out, where I hugged my tablet and wept with her. The emotion coming from the words written pierced my soul and I let my emotions take over. This reaction is a rare one for me and I applaud Mary Morgan for an excellently written story.
If you’re looking to be transported to Scotland and Ireland, complete with a magical love story and one act of defiance which will shake the Fae realm for years to come, pick up Destiny of a Warrior today. Highly recommend!
Favorite Character/Quote:
“Rose was his land—his home. A part of him fractured with the realization. When did his world tilt off its axis? There was no firm compass anymore. No sure direction, save one. Rose.”
My Rating: 5 stars
Aidan Kerrigan is the leader of the Fenian Warriors and his loyalty to the Fae is unwavering but an unexpected mission in the human world and a chance encounter with Rose MacLaren is tempting him to discard duty and claim what is forbidden. She is compelled to look beyond what her rational mind comprehends and unravel the secret of the standing stones, as well as the man who captivates her.
This heartfelt fantasy romance is the stuff fantasies are made of and has readers sighing in envy and delight. The characters are strong and obviously belong together as Aidan and Rose defy death itself to claim his happily ever after. The romance is sweet, fulfilling and a true love story that captures the essence of romance - the true heart of romance.
This steady paced plot keeps readers glued to the pages as it transport readers to a magical world. The story is full of passion as Aidan and Rose get to know each other but readers can also feel the expectation of what is to come as the relationship is forbidden. This story is a delightfully charming read and so engaging that the world outside the book ceases to exist for the reader during this wonderful romance.
