Perfect historical romance. Low drama, high steam and well written characters. Easy plotline to help keep those pages turning.

Gwyn has tried to keep a youthful indiscretion from her family, but when the man from her past tries to blackmail her, that all changes. In his attempt to coerce her, he ends up manhandling her. Joshua happens to see and frees her from the man's clutches. But now that her brother knows she is in trouble, he asks Joshua to be Gwyn's bodyguard as they traverse the London season. Having not told her brother about the blackmail, just the encounter, Gwyn wonders how she will pay the blackmailer the money when her every move is watched by Joshua.

Joshua agrees to protect Gwyn as he has given his word, but she tests all of his patience. He knows she is hiding something and it is just a matter of time before he figures out what it is. But the more time he spends with her, the more he realizes that he doesn't really know who she is. But he really likes what he sees and more and more attracted to her every day. But being a soldier and only one of half pay will never be good enough for the sister of a duke.

As Gwyn and Joshua grow closer to one another the looming threat of the blackmailer is always with them. Can they eliminate the threat and get their HEA?

I really enjoyed book 2 in the Duke Dynasty series. I really enjoyed Gwyn and Joshua in the previous book in the series and enjoyed watching them get their HEA. I loved that Joshua saw through all of Gwyn's tricks, but that didn't keep him from having to be on his toes to keep up with her. I also loved all the bantering between all the characters in the story. I was often laughing out loud at the dialogue. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!!

A ten-year-old secret, blackmail, kidnapping threat, grumpy wounded war hero, and debut in society make for a fun read. Lady Gwyn is desperate to pay her blackmailer to hide her secret from her family and society. Her brother Thorn hires Joshua as her bodyguard to protect her in London during her debut. The villain in this book is not connected to the previous book in the series. The fact that the half-brothers think their fathers were murdered was barely mentioned until the end. (the mystery from the first book). Another strange thing was the casual mention that their brother Heywood was newly married to a woman whom the villain attempted to kidnap along with her cousin. No other explanation given. I enjoyed the book but was expecting more development in the mystery from book one.

Unfortunately, all I was able read was the first chapter. What I read was actually interesting and I would not mind reading the rest of the book.

Really loved this book! I loved the chemistry between the hero and the heroine. I also loved that Lady Gwyn is a woman with a past, but it wasn't portrayed as making her her "less" of a proper lady. I loved what the author did with her and Joshua, the male lead. I will definitely keep reading more books by this author.

Thank you Netgalley, for the advance copy!

[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
It's an excerpt so I can't say a lot. It seemed interesting and the MC are the only characters I found intriguing in the first book, so I may give this book a try

I've been dying to start this book since it released last year. I adored book 1 in the series so I was excited to read this one! It's been a minute since I've read a historical romance and I'm so glad I enjoyed this one. I really enjoy Sabrina Jeffries writing style! I can't wait to get caught up on this series and read more of her backlist.

This was a great beginning to a book. Love the tone the first chapter sets. Can't wait to read the rest.

I started reading The Bachelor by Sabrina Jeffries almost immediately after “The End” of Project Duchess. I wanted to delve further into this family and the mystery of all the deaths haunting them. I just couldn’t wait to see how the mystery was going to advance.

The Bachelor follows Joshua, who is the brother of Beatrice, the lead of Project Duchess, and Gwyn, the half-sister of Grey, Beatrice’s husband. Yeah, this family’s entanglements are interesting, to say the least. The family tree provided at the front of the book does help keep all the pairings a little clearer, but it is definitely tangled.

Joshua and Gwyn are an interesting pairing. They flirted a little during the previous book, but Joshua was so gruff, I wasn’t sure how it was going to work. Something about Gwyn ruffles his feathers while also soothing him. Joshua was wounded in the war and is rather at wit’s end regarding how to be useful since he can’t be in the Marines anymore. Enter Gwyn, who needs protection, and her brother hires Joshua to be her bodyguard… and, of course, sparks fly.

I really enjoyed the interactions between Joshua and Gwyn, as well as their character and romantic development. All this was done while the overarching mystery of this series was advanced. There were moments when I realized that it might have been a little helpful to have read the novella that is part of Seduction on a Snowy Night as there were incidents that happened during that novella that were mentioned and even continued upon in The Bachelor. The book can stand on its own, but for full effect, I totally suggest reading the series in order, including the novella.

If you enjoy historical romance with a touch of mystery, then you might enjoy this series. You’ll just need to invest in the whole series for that overarching plot since it’s not solved yet in The Bachelor. I’ve been sucked into this series and can’t wait to start reading Who Wants to Marry a Duke to see how this all progresses.

Sabrina Jeffries writes some of my favorite regency escapes and this book is no exception - the characters are sparking and witty and infinitely entertaining, the prose is well written and easy to read, there's just enough steam and intrigue, I honestly loved it all and can't wait to see the resolution of this series and mystery woven in the first three books so far. Highly recommend!

Review originally published at Romancing Romances.

I received an eARC at no cost from the publisher, and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review. Thank you.

I’m starting by saying I really like meeting Joshua in the previous book of this series, so I was very happy to see that he was the hero of this new book.

Joshua is hired as the “bodyguard” of Lady Gwyn Drake. But Gwyn has her own secrets that make it very hard for Joshua to protect her. I really enjoyed as Joshua wanted to protect her but didn’t invalidate her experiences, and believed her but not judged her.

They have a bit of a rough time in the beginning, but their attraction grows, and when they open up to each other everything falls into place.

Joshua clearly has PTS from the war, and his temper is not the best. Gwyn wants things done her way, and they collide until they start seeing the others’ perspective. When they both learn to trust, all the romance and sexy times get better.

It was a great romance, with characters that made you care about their outcome.

Lydia Fletcher has been married three times, each time to a duke and each time giving birth to the heir to the dukedom. Her family is a mix of siblings, half siblings, cousins, and extended family members who are not even related to each other. This story involves two of those unrelated family members. Both Gwyn and Joshua have kept secrets from their family and each other. Joshua comes to Gwyn's rescue from one of her secrets, the villainous Captain Lionel Malet. However, she doesn't tell him or her brother the whole true about the encounter, which leads to Joshua being hired as her bodyguard during her season in London. In the beginning Gwyn and Joshua are like oil and water. As they spend more time together, an attraction develops, unraveling some of their secrets. To say more would ruin the twists Ms. Jeffries has put into the mix. This tale is a page turner, leaving the reader anxious to see what happens next to these two great characters. One of the things I love about series is the chance to catch up on characters from other books. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Gwyn's twin brother's story.

I didn’t realize this was just a one chapter excerpt, so I can’t review it based on so little to go on.

I enjoyed this historical romance of Lady Gwyn Drake and Major Joshua Wolfe. And also all the rest of the characters.

Lady Gwyn Drake has got a secret that if got out could change her life. But her secret my be told by a blackmailer. She is wanting to pay him off before she is to go to London for her debut. But they get interrupted by the estate gamekeeper.

Major Joshua Wolfe is the gamekeeper for the cousin estate after he got hurt during the war. One night he comes upon Lady Gwyn Drake and a man while patrolling. The man has her by the arm and she doesn't look happy.

This story was fun to read it had quite a bit of an adventure and action that keep me reading. It also had me laughing a lot.

I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

When I read the first book in this series, I fell in love with the lively Lady Gwyn. She’s been getting ready for her London season and she’s getting up there in age so she has to land a proposal. But before heading off, an old suitor comes back to threaten and blackmail her. So her brother decides to send their estate’s game keeper and ex-soldier with her as her bodyguard. But things are not as simple as they all suspect and she’s got plans and secrets of her own.

I’m always a sucker for a historical romance with a class disparity. Due to the hero also having an injury from his time at war, he walks with a cane and has plenty of scars. That doesn’t detract him from wanting to fulfill some mission in his life. That might’ve been my favorite part about this story. Joshua isn’t a flashy alpha hero, but he’s got a lot of heart and determination. He doesn’t let his shortcomings stop him from wanting and achieving more in his life. That goes for both getting the girl and also with his career.

This was a fun read, even if maybe a little less memorable than the first book in the series. However, I’m still looking forward to reading more from this series and author.
