The galley sent to me was incomplete so I therefore cannot accurately review this title. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Fun taster of the book, I'll definitely request the full title later to give a review of the whole book. The chapter sample had me hooked!
Love the first chapter and I am eager to read the rest of the story. This book looks so good! I am definitely pre-ordering this book.
A great first chapter! This has everything and draws you right in to the story. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
It took me a lot of stopping and starting to get into this book. I'm disappointed because I was do looking forward to this book because there was obvious chemistry between both MCs in the previous book, as well as the unsolved mystery, but I just don't think this wax Jeffries' best work. Skim read a lot of it but I think its mostly on me that this book didn't go exactly as I wanted it to. Still amazing writing from SJ as always though!
How to give a review for a snippet of a book???? I think I missed that part in the section about the book. The chapter given was well written and sounded intriguing; for that it receives 4 stars, for the brevity only 3.5 stars, this rounds to 4.
I received a copy of this chapter through NetGalley for my honest review.
While there wasn't much to go on with the excerpt that I read, it certainly grabbed my attention. I requested the book not realizing it was going to just be a sample because the blurb was so interesting. Seeing that it's the second in a series makes me want to read the first. I'll be picking it up.
For just the first chapter, it is a great beginning. Ms. Jeffries keeps you interested from the very beginning of her books - looking forward to seeing what happens during the rest of the book between Gwyn and the major. Project Duchess is an intriguing series.
Well, color me disappointed. This ARC was only one chapter. There is not a whole lot I can say on one chapter except that it didn't compell me to read more. I love Sabrina Jeffries and she's an excellent writer. But I can't quite tell if this book will be for me. The main reason I was interested in this book is because of the description. I love forced proximity stories. I love the idea that Wolfe and Gwyn are stuck together. But I do not love mysteries or villain stories. I requested this ARC because the forced proximity outweighed the the mystery/villain aspect. But having read only the first chapter, if I had that alone and nothing else, I would be turned off because I didn't learn much about the hero or the heroine. I learned more about the villain. And I find it tedious to deal with villains. I wish I'd gotten more to make me buy into the book. But now that I've read only the first chapter, it may have an opposite effect on my interest long term. However, all of this is very personal. So, other people may feel different.
This sneak peak was awesome!
I fell in love with these characters in Project Duchess and can't wait to read more Joshua and Gwynn. The lingering mystery over the dead spouses is definitely something I'm looking forward to jump back in.
4/5 stars
The first chapter was a good start to the second book in this historical fiction romance series! I already like Lady Gwyn's personality from the bits that I've read. I'm also a little curious as to certain characters backgrounds and seeing the chemistry develop between the two main characters. I honestly haven't read the first book yet and I didn't find myself confused in the least. However, after reading this chapter, I absolutely plan on backtracking and reading the first book in the series while I wait on this book to release! I'm definitely interested to read more of this story and how it will play out with Lady Gwyn and her love interest.
* Thank you so much to NetGalley and Kensington Books for allowing me the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait to read the rest of the story!
Just by that one chapter, I just know I'm going to enjoy this book when it comes out! Gwyn will have her hands full between Lionel Malet blackmailing her and Major Wolfe demanding she tell her brother what has occurred. Sounds like a great story!!
This was an excerpt containing but a few pages providing an overview so I feel I can not write a review at this time. However thus far the excerpt serves to aptly wet the appetite to read the full script.
I received just a synopsis chapter and it was very interesting in that the heroine is being blackmailed by a mysterious man from her past. The hero is a scarred war veteran who clearly has feelings for the heroine and she seems oblivious. A very engaging first chapter, I may purchase the book to see where it goes.
I received this book from NetGalley to read and review! However, I only received the first chapter and I don’t feel I can review the book based on one chapter- even though it was an interesting first chapter!
This was only one chapter long?
Also the formatting on it was really bad and made everything very confusing to read.
Promising start for the romance between Lady Gwyn and Major Wolfe. There’s secrets and blackmail which helps move the plot along especially since these two are obviously attracted to one another since the first book in the series. It would be interesting how the romance will progress and what obstacles are in place to prevent it from happening.
What a tantalizing look into The Bachelor. I’ve been caught hook, line and sinker. I cannot wait for more!
Although just a chapter excerpt, this view gave me all the feels. Lady Gwyn’s blatant lies and the way Major Joshua Wolf saw through them all had me smirking. Oh and the intrigue surrounding the blackmail has me all kinds of excited to see what happens next!
Teaser first chapter!
I must admit to being quite titilated by this 2020 release teaser, for the second title in the Duke Dynasty series by Sabrina Jeffries.
I always thought the brooding Major Joshua Wolfe, injured in naval action and now the estate’s gamekeeper, together with Thorn's sister Lady Gwn Drake, would have a tale to tell. If this first chapter is any indication I can hardly wait for the rest. Lady Gwyn and Joshua were certainly "aware" of each other, when Bea first introduced them in the beginning story of the series, Project Duchess. Consider Bea's reflections,
"To Beatrice’s surprise—and delight—Gwyn gazed at Joshua with more curiosity than anything else. And perhaps a little attraction? Beatrice had always considered her brother relatively handsome, despite his limp and the straight black hair he kept unfashionably long. Gwyn’s reaction to him proved her right. Nor was there any mistaking the blatant survey he made of Gwyn’s figure. Her brother never looked at any woman that way . . . or at least he hadn’t since before the war. How very interesting.. "
Mmmm! Where will this go?
I did not realize that Gwyn is a person holding deep secrets. Add to this the malevolency of her blackmailer and the truculency of Joshua, and fireworks are in the offing.
This first chapter displays all the mystery, energy and frustration that promises to lead into a cracking good five star tale!
A Kensington Books chapter preview via NetGalley
This was only the first chapter of the book and not the entire book so it is hard to give a review for it. From the first book in the series and the little of this book that I've read, I do think that it will be a good book but I don't have enough to go on for an accurate review.
