So disappointed this was only a small portion of the book. I feel so robbed because I wasn't aware of this until I looked down and saw I only had 45 minutes left in the book way too soon.
I can't wait to be able to finish it as soon as it comes out. I usually read thrillers bout like to give my mind a break from time to time and this will be the perfect escape.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC tease of a great book in exchange for my honest opinion.
In the excerpt that I read I found the storyline to feel almost forced and stilted. Just when I was starting to warm up to the characters the excerpt ended. But I don't find myself intrigued enough by the women in this story to want to read more.
The Sunday Potluck Club preview is a lovely read that absolutely gets me excited for the full release in 2020. I'm looking forward to reading the book in its entirety.
LOVED this book! It was so sweet, heartfelt, and full of life and love. I didn't go into it thinking that this was the perfect Valentine's Day book, but it is!
I really wanted to like this book, and to me it fell a little bit flat. The writing was good I just couldn't connect to the characters as much as I wanted to!
Amy is the 2nd-grade teacher, Bridget is still going to school to be a vet. The journey of their friendship is touching, there are many tears and lots of laughter. Their friendship started in a cancer ward and flourished from there. They start to connect with other grieving women and they are members of The Sunday Potluck Club.
I was given this book by Netgalley to read, for an honest review.
I am so glad that I was approved for this book, it will have you crying, laughing, and feeling like you are apart of the story. We all deal with something rough in life, and it helps to have an amazing support system of others who can relate to what you're dealing with.
This review is based on the preview that I read. It is a new author for me and the story line was very interesting. I will definitely purchase this book, when it is released.
This story seems like it will be a wonderful and heartfelt read. I can’t wait to continue with the story when the full book is released next year.
This preview for the full book gives us a glimpse into the lives of 4 women who met at the hospital as their beloved parents were undergoing chemo treatments. Each woman has their own way of dealing with their grief. I look forward to reading the full version of the book after publication.
Well this is a preview of the book which I did not realize. I was provided an e-copy from NetGalley. The opinions posted are mine and not required.
Entertaining and held my attention - thumbs up, y’all! The storyline and characters were spot-on. Thanks to netgalley for this ARC!
This was only an excerpt and I am sad I have to wait so l9ng to read the rest of the story. I can't leave a full review until I have read the entire book. But so far I find it very enjoyable
This was such an amazing read that I couldn’t put it down. It went everywhere with me. To the doctors office, the dentist, the eye doctor. IT WENT ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE. I was so sad when it ended that I immediately went and bought more books from this author!
Great excerpt from this story. My feelings are mixed though because I kinda need to read it all to make a proper decision about this book. It felt a bit stalling and I hope it picks up the pace because the characters are interesting and I want to read more about them.
I have one word for this book: Yawn! I put it down at 44% because I was so bored. Nothing happened in the story and the characters were not interesting.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for kindly providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was only an excerpt of the first 10 chapters of the book. Although I did enjoy reading it, and really liked the start of the character development, I do not think I can give a full rating at this time. I will be looking forward to the full book release in 2020.
This was a great excerpt. I rally enjoyed what I read and am looking forward to the rest of the story of these young women overcome grief and find love.
1/5 ⭐️
First a big thank you to Netgalley for giving me a copy to read in exchange for a honest review.
Now I know this isn’t the whole book, but frankly, I’m not going to read the rest. Why? The story was flat, characters were flat and like nothing happend.
I enjoyed the beginning snipped of this book and was interested to read more about these women and where the story will take them,
Sometimes, the hard things in life connect us and build bonds that cannot be broken. The Sunday Potluck Club pulls you in quick and doesn’t let you go. It’s a page-turner and a quick and delightful read.
FROM THE PUBLISHER:
A recipe for living . . .
New friends can be found in unexpected places. For Bridget and Amy, that place was the cancer ward of an Anchorage hospital. Now, as each struggles to overcome loss, they lean on each other for support—sharing suppers, laughter, and tears.
Bridget and Amy aren’t about to let hardship knock them down—Bridget plans to return to her veterinarian school studies, Amy to her position as a second-grade teacher—but neither feels quite ready. And so the Sunday Potluck Club is born, a way for Bridget, Amy, and other women who have lost a loved one to find solace and understanding. Savoring favorite dishes while sharing memories and the comfort of connection, the members of the Sunday Potluck Club nourish body and soul.
As weeks go by and the group grows in unforeseen ways, both Bridget and Amy are inspired to find greater purpose. Amy reaches out to a student whose father bravely faces his own struggle. Bridget volunteers at the local animal shelter, rehabilitating dogs whose unconditional love will bring others a chance to heal. And with the help of two special men, Bridget and Amy are realizing that there’s always room at the table for love and rekindled joy . . .
My thoughts after reading the excerpt? GIVE. ME. MORE. I can’t wait for this to be released so I can finish reading it. Thank you, NetGalley for the excerpt.
The Sunday Potluck Club is the story of four women who have bonded over the loss of a parent to cancer. They form the Sunday Potluck Club. Everyone brings one dish to serve, and they talk about life, love, and loss, while learning to heal and move on after tragedy.
The Sunday Potluck Club opens to a fantastic start. By the end of chapter one, I already had tears in my eyes, and by chapter 10, I was invested in the characters. The author did a fantastic job invoking strong emotions and describing the familial bond that forms between friends, especially between those who face similar tragedies. I'm eager to read more.
