This book will drop you into peoples worlds. Be warned though you will read the whole thing in your Mike Rowe voice. It was very well done and the stories within are amazing.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit I didn't read Rowe's The Way I Heard It in its entirety. As a fan of the podcast which led to its publication, I was already familiar with much of the material. That said, I loved how Rowe paired each "episode" with biographic stories from his own life.

Rowe's signature wit, perceptive interpretations, and iconic voice transcend the page and draw readers into the stories of both his story and those of the remarkable people and events that caught his eye. Highly recommended.

I loved this book! I love listening to Mike Rowe's podcasts while we travel. The stories that he tells in this book are quick and seem to be well researched. I enjoyed how Mike was able to relate something of his own story at the end of each chapter.

My thanks to Netgalley and Gallery, Pocket Books for this advanced readers copy. This book is due to release in October 2019.

A fantastic book by Mike Rowe! I love his humor (and always have), I love the stories he tells, and now, I love his mom and dad too. I can’t wait to hear it in audio (in his voice, please)! It was really neat to try to figure out "who is this person" in each story before he tells you.

Full review to be published in late October.

My only complaint is I wish this was in audio so I could listen to his glorious baritone while enjoying these story bits. Told with Mike Rowe’s signature wit, this is a collection of historical anecdotes about famous people, alongside memoir-ish bits about Rowe himself. What a very interesting life Mike has lived, and what a pleasure to have learned a different angle of each of the histories.

Can I say enough positive things about this book? Written in short chapters that combine both stories from his podcast and snippets from his personal life, this book flows better than any other collection of short stories I've ever read. The tagline - mini-mysteries for the intellectually minded with the attention span of a gnat (or something similar to that) - perfectly sums up the nature of this book. You will be floored when some of the folks are revealed (I'm thinking of a drill sergeant), and find yourself with a whole slew of stories to share at your next social function. The story of his rise to fame is both humble and fascinating. We look forward to more from this great man...maybe even a Presidential bid some day? :)
