Funny with a large amount of sass and sarcasm, I believe the subject and how it is written will be relate to many people. Especially if you are a millennial with a love hate relationship with technology.
I had so much fun reading this book ! From the first page to the last, it's an essential manual filled with helpful tips for your local introvert friend or loved one. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice gift !
I might have liked more humor in this book. It seemed like it was going for absurdity but never quite hit the right level. It didn't really speak to me as an introvert.
As an Introvert myself, I LOVED this book! Some of the things are cringe worthy, but excellent nonetheless! Get this book for yourself or for the Introverts you know and love!
An amusing guide for introverts (or those with social anxiety of varying stripes) for getting into and out of a number of social situations.
This is a fun way to read about yourself. A lot of things in this book is relatable something that I want to share to my introvert friends too.
I am a huge introvert so I absolutely adored this book! It's good to be able to laugh at yourself and the situations you find yourself in. The art was stunning and I will definitely be buying a physical copy of the book.
Thank you Netgalley, for providing me with this Advanced Reader Copy.
The Escape Manual for Introverts by Katie Vaz is a perfect read for every introvert out there. I laughed at loud at some of the scenarios as they were so relatable!
Escape Manual for Introverts is a cute book to share with your stereotypical bookish friends. However, I got a little tired of the theme. After a few pages, it stopped being funny and cute and left me feeling pity for the author.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I really don't know how I feel about it to be honest. It's a meh for me
I am not sure how to feel about this book. I guess I expect to high on it, and I was disappointed. I like some of them though.
I really loved this graphic novel. I kept wanting to screenshot pages and send them to friends and share. It is a fun book for all introverts and book lovers to feel understood. Maybe even a great coffee book table to help jump start convos between introverts!
Being an introvert is not easy. You want to stay in, be alone, and recharge your batteries. But the world (and your extroverted family and friends) want you to go out, have fun, and make friends. Sometimes it can be hard to know what to say. Now there’s help for innies like me, The Escape Manual for Introverts.
Artist Katie Vaz has put together a helpful, funny, warm, smart, slightly snarky guide to help us introverts think of ways to sneak out of social situations early as well as excuses we can use to stay home. With kindness and understanding, Vaz offers suggestions to help with weddings, dinner parties, house guests, airplanes, family vacations, coworker get-togethers, the gym, and waiting rooms.
The Escape Manual for Introverts helps you think through social situations and come up with strategies to use for friends, relatives, coworkers, acquaintances, and strangers. And she includes a “Plausibility of Excuse Absurdity,” a guideline for how crazy your excuses can be in relation to how close you are to the other person you’d be spending time with. For example, your excuses for family have to be far more coherent than what you might say to a stranger.
The charming illustrations and intelligent compassion of The Escape Manual for Introverts makes it the perfect gift for all the innies you know. And staying home to read it can also be used as an ideal reason you can’t go out after work and have to go straight home instead, for a quiet evening of rest and recuperation.
I am a big fan of Katie Vaz, her art, and her inclusive attitude towards others. She’s clearly an introvert herself, but through her work she is open to innies and outies, and I feel like she can help us introverts explain to the extroverts what life is like for us and how easy it is for us to get overwhelmed in social situations.
I love The Escape Manual for Introverts, and I recommend it as a fun, quick, informative read for introverts and extroverts alike!
Galleys for The Escape Manual for Introverts were provided by Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley, with many thanks.
If you have not guessed, I am not an introvert, which is probably why this book isn’t for me. It’s both a joke, and a serious guide on how to get out of events. It tries to cover almost any situation you might encounter, and each situation is it’s own page. I like many of the ideas presented, and would not be offended if my introvert friends used these cues, but as a guidebook, it’s not really for me.

The Escape Manual for Introverts is short graphic novel for introverts on how to escape from social situations, complete with a whole bunch of suggestions and cute little illustrations. Not gonna lie, a bunch of the suggestions are.. less good. Some of them are great, and absolutely useful, but there are some that include lying and generally being a nuisance to ones surroundings, and even if it's supposed to be a "fun" little book and I know we're not supposed to literally bring pungent food for lunch every day just to not have to talk to co-workers during lunch, I was just not amused. There were some gems in here that made me chuckle, but it just wasn't for me.
I love this. The hypothetical scenarios were amusing, and the escape routes were even more entertaining to read. I might use a few of this route myself! I like the using of 'level of possibility' for the routes based on your relationship with the other person, I think it's fairly creative. The art style was simple but I enjoy them.

Final Rating — 3/5
A collection of ideas for introverts on how to get out of various uncomfortable situations.
I am most definitely an introvert and I identify with the feelings of wanting to avoid certain situations. This collection is like a daydream of ways to escape those situations that introverts would rather not have to experience. I say daydream because if you really followed all this advice you’d become a chronic liar (probably 75% of the comics involved lying in some way). It may be funny in a comic, but even introverts need friends and the steps outlined wouldn’t be a good way to keep friends. Definitely don’t hand this to someone who is going to take it too seriously. But if you and some fellow introverts want a chuckle about what you wish you could get away with at times, then give this a read.
Notes on content [based on ARC]: I read this sporadically over the summer and I can’t remember now if there were any content issues. There wasn’t anything glaringly horrible.

This is a delightful little guide for introverts. I love how this book mixes truth with humor, while teaching introverts how to escape energy draining situations. The hand drawn illustrations are especially charming, some of which are sincere and some of which are quite funny. This is a quick read that I finished in about an hour and really enjoyed.
"The Escape Manual for Introverts" is a super cute book that I highly recommend to all introverts as well as those who want to better understand the introverts in their lives.
Even though I downloaded this ebook, when I came to read it, it said it had expired which is strange.
