I did not finish - I have tried reading this book on multiple occasions and just could not get into it.
Poppy and Sam decide to go visit their friend, Snuggles Molesy, only to find the mole has lost his glasses. They all retrace his steps in their search for the lost glasses, finding many other lost items along the way. They finally find the glasses up a tree with Ms. Bat, and it seems they have found her lost hat. They set up a lost and found area to return the other items to their owners, and soon everyone is reunited with their lost things. This is a sweet story about helping your friends, and the illustrations are so cute and fun, filled with lots of color and detail.

Poppy and Sam and the Mole Mystery graphic novel style book. Poppy and Sam are paying a visit to their friend Snuggles Molesy. Snuggles is upset looking for a lost pair of pretty pink glasses! Poppy and Sam offer to help by retracing Snuggles steps. They look all around the garden, along the shore of the creek, asking others they meet along the way, but do not find the glasses. They do find many other things though. They decide to set up a lost and found and invite all the other animals to come and see if they lost any of the items they found. As their friends find their misplaced treasures, they also find the pink glasses.
This is a cute story about retracing your steps to find something that has been lost. I also like that they do not keep the other items they find, but take the time to find the owners of all the other treasures they find. What a great message of helping one another, looking for lost items and reuniting found things with their owners. The illustrations were simple and fit the story perfectly. I read this to my grandson as he has a difficult time of looking for things. He gives up easily and doesn't understand the concept of moving things and really looking. He enjoyed the story and was happy that Snuggles found his glasses. I am not sure if this will help him when he is looking for something or not, but it was a fun read.
This is a cute story, a fun way to introduce young readers to the graphic novel construction. It's not really a mystery though. There aren't really clues. They retrace steps in search of a lost object. That's standard picture book fare, not a mystery.
This author/illustrator is new for me and I was not even aware there was another book till i finished this one. Lucky for me they don't seem to go together, so I didn't miss anything.
Whimsical fun and teaches children the kindness of returning something lost to its owner with a mysterious twist.
The illustrations are simple, colorful and gorgeous to look at. Makes me want to walk through this forest of bright colors and cute little animals all day!

'Poppy and Sam and the Mole Mystery' with words and pictures by Cathon brings back our tiny sleuths for a new fun mystery.
Poppy and Sam visit their friend Snuggles the Mole. Snuggles has been baking, but has a problem. Snuggles has lost her pink glasses. Poppy and Sam are on the case. Along the way, they don't find the glasses, but they do find a lot of other lost items like umbrellas and earrings. They also talk to a number of animal friends along the way. Where could Snuggles' glasses be?
I liked the first book in this series I read, and I like this one just as much. The story is told in a cross between graphic novel and picture book. The story and characters are pretty cute. Little readers should have a good time with this one.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Owlkids Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
I really enjoyed reading The Mole Mystery. This tale started simple enough with a visit to a friend. When it was discovered they lost something that was where the adventure began. A search for one item evolved into finding lots of other misplaced things instead. Just when things seemed hopeless something happened that turns it all around. If you liked the last Poppy and Sam book then you will want to check this one out.
Poppy and Sam go to visit their friend Snuggles the mole. Snuggles can’t find his glasses anywhere, so Poppy and Sam try to help him track them down. Where could those missing glasses be?
A cute graphic novel/picture book featuring friends trying to help each other out. This felt more like a game of hide-n-seek than a mystery, but I guess it technically was a mystery. I like how friendly and helpful the characters are to each other. I felt like there could have been more of an explanation about why the three searchers found so many other lost items on their hunt, but I know that even real people can be that absentminded about belongings. (Just take a look at your local school’s lost and found!) Hand this to animal lovers and fans of cute illustrations.
I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Poppy and Sam and the Mole Mystery by Cathon is a picture book and graphic novel style book currently scheduled for release on August 13 2019. It’s a new day in the garden, and Poppy and Sam are paying a visit to their friend Snuggles Molesy. But Snuggles is in a pickle, looking for a lost pair of pretty pink glasses! Sleuths Poppy and Sam begin to investigate: all around the garden, along the shore of the creek, and even inside the pies Snuggles had been baking. Along the way, they ask the other critters they encounter. Poppy and Sam don’t have much luck finding the glasses, but they do come across a variety of other treasures: a flowered umbrella, a flute, a yellow spinning top, and more. By the end of the story, they set up a whimsical lost and found with all of these objects—and finally find the rosy specs, while their fellow garden friends find misplaced treasures of their own.
Poppy and Sam and the Mole Mystery is a cute story about retracing your steps to find something that has been lost. When Sam and Poppy visit Snuggles not only do they get to eat way to much pie- but that start off on an adventure t help their friend find his missing glasses. I like that they use the tried and true method of backtracking to find the missing glasses, and that they look for the owners of the other items they find along the way. I really like the story ending, and how the friends were able to help others that were in similar situations as they were when the story began. Readers can look on each page for hidden creatures and items to see if they can find the glasses, or the other items that they trio ruin across along the way. I liked the art, it was simple and subtle, which is all the story needed.
Poppy and Sam and the Mole Mystery is a fun and simple story. I think it offers a good beginner foray into graphic novels, and will appeal to animal fans in particular.
Poppy and Sam drop in to visit mole. He's all sad because he's lost his pink glasses. They are going to help him fund them.
Owlkids Books and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It will be published August 13th.
As they go back to places he's been that morning, they find all kinds of things but not his glasses. (Let your child look over the pictures and see how many things they can find before they read about it.)
When they finally find the glasses, they also have others claiming what they've picked up so far. So they set up a lost and found and everything goes home with someone. Everybody is in a good mood by the end.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!
adorable kids book.
we loved the illustrations.
the story was unique & easy to read!
This is another book translated from French about friends Poppy and Sam. Mole has lost his glasses and they all three set out to find them. They all appear to be small in the soft illustrations and live in a world of their own surrounded by tall stalks of grass and delicate flowers. The panels are different sizes and the speech bubbles contain just enough text to move the story along in this beginner comic. The mystery has a satisfying ending for Mole and other woodland neighbors.
Thanks to the publisher for letting me read this title. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The book has adorable illustrations - we had fun looking at the details! I like that the book is written in the comic format - something different for our younger children. As such, it could be used as a great resource to teaching what speech bubbles are and how to tell when the characters are taking turn talking. Great book!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Cute book about losing your stuff and then attempting to find it with the help of friends. My grandkids enjoyed it but I would say this book is more for ages 3-5. Enjoy! 📚
ARC Copy...it was cute and not just the illustrations. Small format graphic novel-comic format narrative and sophisticated story to keep the younglings attention and message on helping others in need.
Poppy, Sam and Mole search for one lost item results in finding so much more than they were looking for. New friends are made along the way in the comical and expressive story. Playful and productive in nature, this book will inspire seekers of lost things and ultimately sometimes you never know where a day might lead you and the unexpected outcomes that can culminate at the end of a day.
My 6 year old loved the first one, so I was super excited to see an ARC for the second as she asked for more immediately after finishing. This was so cute, still love the art style, the story was cute, and it seemed like a great choice for a pretty new reader (not too much text or too difficult)
This is a graphic novel for young children. The story is simple, the illustrations are sort of cute, and the writing is decent. I'm not sure it's really my thing (it reads really young), but I can see it having appeal for younger readers who are just getting started with the graphic novel format.
There are some cute touches in the illustrations (like the titles of books characters are reading), and the whimsical setting gives the story a magical feel. Everything from a panda to a child somehow fits under a fly agaric mushroom, so we're obviously dealing with a bit of fantasy here (as if the talking mole and spiders didn't clue you in). But I kind of like the overall look of the book with its simple character drawings and clear facial expressions.
This is a really cute read. A book I'll be reading to my grandson as soon as he's old enough to enjoy bed time stories. The illustrations were great and added perfectly to the story.
What a lovely story! It didn't download quite that way it should have, but it was readable and I loved the illustrations- so cute! I love that lost and found of everything all the critters had lost. it was a fun adventure to search for all those lost things and gathering them all together so everyone could find what they had lost. Little will enjoy this story!
