Laurie Lewis did a great job with this book. There were plenty of plot twists and turns. I never knew what was coming next.

This book contains multiple points of view that I feel added to the story making it more interesting. I also enjoyed that more than one character had secrets and that many tried to use those secrets to make themselves better.

Thanks to Convent Communications and NetGalley for a review copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was an interesting story and I enjoyed most of it. The mystery of why Tallie and her mother had to flee from place to place kept me reading. I'm not sure I am satisfied with the reason though!

I like the author's writing style and hope she has other books that I can explore!

A good suspense book is one of my very favorites to read! I loved the way the author did this one. There are several points of view that you get to see the story from. You get to see it from the point of view of Julia, that’s Tallie’s mom, Tallie and Jackson. All these points of view make the story more interesting. And help it to make more sense.

There were lots of things about Tallie that I liked. I liked the way she was smart. She had learned a lot of things through not only schooling, but through the way she was raised by Julia. They spent their whole lives on the run. But that’s not really something Tallie really understood until after Julia died. Julia sent Tallie on a mission after she died, a mission to find out where she came from and the secrets that surrounded her life.

Jackson has his own secrets. I liked the way his secrets drove him to be a better person than he had previously been, to change. That’s really what we’re all looking for in our own lives.

The reader doesn’t see much of the story through Julia’s point of view. Only the first chapter is her. But I learned from her that there’s always a way to fix your mistakes. Even if it’s hard. She tried to fix hers, even though she was already dead.

The plot of this book has so many twists and turns. I loved the way I never knew just what was coming next. And there’s no way I would have ever guessed just how all the characters were connected. I loved reading this one!

I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Ms. Lewis' new book is a twisty whodunit that is built like a Sunday evening TV mystery in the best sense. Characters are fleshed out and very relatable. Seemingly unrelated incidents come together in extraordinary ways that still maintain the suspension of disbelief.

4 out of 5 stars. Recommended reading.

Twisty turns, layers, and connections abound in this intricately woven story. I was intrigued by this book, and engaged by the various characters. The romance and action were balanced well and the connections just kept coming, each revelation bigger and better than the last. I would rate this sweet and clean, PG/PG-13 for thematic violence.

I have to say I was very surprised I love this book! Nothing to do with the author r writing, it just isn't the type of book I usually read. Wrong genre. But I ended up enjoying it very much...read it in one night!
Tallie Brown's life has never made any sense. Raised in isolation by her mother, Julia, Tallie was dragged suddenly and without explanation from one third-world outpost to another until life normalized seven years ago when Julia took a position on a mountaintop in the Pacific northwest. But when Julia unexpectedly dies, Tallie uncovers clues suggesting that Julia had a secret life.

Author Laurie L.C. Lewis will have readers on the edge of their seats from page one of this intense, thrilling, and page-turning novel. Readers will be on edge throughout the entire story as they wait to see what will happen next. There are plenty of twists and turns that readers won’t expect, which will also draw them in making them not want to put this exciting story down. The build up to the end of the story is quite intense. Although the story is interesting and engaging, the end of the story it seems to come to a bit of an abrupt end where everything all of a sudden comes together quickly. Readers will be sure to enjoy this fast paced mystery-suspense story!

The writing was very straight forward and easy to read while the plot was a gradual growth of pure suspense. I utterly enjoyed the story and the never ending unfolding of conspiracies right up till the end. And boy, it was quite a ride.

Secrets Never Die by Laurie Lewis is an interesting read. A girl’s life is full of mystery and this book is the slow unraveling of that mystery and why she’s always grown up living in isolation and on the move. I found the book to be interesting but a bit slow moving at times. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Suspense, mystery, romance PG-13 as some violence and crime
This is probably the best thing I have read of Laurie Lewis'. She nailed this novel with her characters, and the unraveling of the mystery. Jackson and Tallie were so well portrayed, great side characters, and the small town setting. This novel with it's crashing conclusion, still with one bit of the mystery yet to be resolved was so masterfully done. I had a hard time putting it down as Jackson and Tallie joined forces to uncover his story, and the mystery of her birth father.
Well-paced, intense emotions, drama, intrigue, secrets, and a bit of romance. Loved this one! I can't wait to see what Laurie Lewis writes next! More of a 4.5 for me as a reader, but rounded up!

A book that twist and turns but never lets you down. Very well written. Each chapter you are able to put together a little more. Definitely a great book. It actually a quick read as well but only because it is so good.

A fast paced mystery with enough suspense to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. It makes me want to pick up another story by this author.

This took me a while to get into

It jumps in timelines and narrators and introduces many characters so it was confusing at first. Eventually I was able to get into the swing of it then is started to move along.

There are a good many twists and surprises and the way this all ties together is handled very well. The characters are quite good and well developed. The story is excellently paced and plotted. Once I got into it I was entertained but it did get a bit crazy for me. I don’t know if I just wasn’t in the mood for this story at this time??

I think most readers will be amazed at how everything ties up in the end. Please do try this if it sounds appealing because so many are raving about it. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Covenant Communications for a copy in exchange for a review.

This is a page turner that takes off in the very beginning. A simple story about a girl wanting to find her roots, but the journey is filled with danger and quirky small town people. Enjoyable to the very last page.

In theory, this is exactly the kind of book I should love, but unfortunately this book was disappointing for me. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and will probably be my last. The story started off a bit slow and confusing, with the switching back and forth between characters and places, and took far longer than it should have for me to get into the swing of it. Had I not chosen this to review I would have quit reading early on.

I don’t normally have a problem keeping stories straight, I mean, I watched Inception and didn’t have a problem keeping up with that. There was just something about this book that was hard for me to stay engaged with. I think, for me, there was just way too much going on.

There were moments where the plot was interesting and I wanted to know what was going to happen next, but those moments didn’t last long. There were also moments that I was hoping something interesting was going to happen and then nothing did. I had my suspicions as to what was going to happen with a few of the plotlines, so I wasn’t surprised when I ended up being right.

I also really didn’t like that practically every single person in town is introduced. I know it’s a small town, but I don’t need to know every single persons life story. I really just think the characters were the biggest issue for me. I didn’t really like or connect with Tallie. She just kind of felt like this robot considering her lack of personality. I mean, I know her upbringing is a big part of that, but still…

And I just felt irritation towards Tallie’s mother for the life she forced Tallie into. I couldn’t even really feel sorry for her.

I don’t mean to sound so negative toward this book. I can appreciate the hard work that went into this book; it’s really not a poorly written story. And I can understand why some people would enjoy this, but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me.

I can’t rave about this book enough!

Okay, first off, one of my favorite types of books are suspense novels written kind of like British TV shows. They introduce a bunch of characters, and you don’t know how they relate at first. You don’t know who the bad guy is or what’s going on, but then as you read more you find the pieces fitting together until you finally get a complete picture and—if written well—a satisfying reveal which you only figure out seconds before the author tells all.

The problem is a lot of these type of books have horrendous swearing, graphic violence, and other unsavory parts—which just rub against my sensibilities and often pull be out of the story.

But this book—it’s all of the clever twisty-turns stuff, filled with surprises, but without all the grit. And I loved it!

Characters—they were amazing. Well-developed, believable, varied, surprising, and true to themselves throughout. Very memorable and distinct—which you need in a novel like this.

Plot—oh. my. goodness. This went all over the place, but in a very good way. And toward the end when it all started coming together and you figured out who was what and where and when—amazing!

I rarely email an author directly, but this time I did—and I begged her to keep writing this type of book. (In the past she’s written historical novels and romances.) I hope she listens because it was that good.

There was some violence—kidnappings, deaths, etc.—but they weren’t graphic. No sex. No swearing. Just clever and clean.

If you like suspense and TV shows like Broadchurch and Lewis, you’ll love this book. I recommend it to readers 14 and older and give it the full 5 STARS.

Talk about a mystery! Secrets Never Die will keep you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you know exactly what the story is about, twists and turns are tossed our way that made you second guess everything you've read and all the conclusions you've jumped to.

In this story we meet Tallie Brown, whose life truly is the mystery in this book. Why had her mother kept her hiding throughout her entire life? Who was after her? Who could her father be? How did it all go together with the strange, secretive town of Cutler's Ridge? To be honest, there were a few times throughout the story that I felt like things were dragged out more than necessary. Not that it was badly written by any means, just that I couldn't wait to get to know the answers to all of these questions and so many more. Still, though I wished the pace might have been a little faster at points, it still held me in its grips and had me reading through to the end to figure it all out. That drawing out perhaps even more so had me anxious to see the secrets revealed. This story had a lot of twists and turns that made it hard even for an avid mystery/suspense reader like myself to figure it ALL out. There were parts I'd picked up on, of course, but trying to put it all together? Now, that was much tougher.

It did have just a hint of romance in the story, but I would certainly not qualify this one as a romance novel myself... really just more of an attraction within a mystery. I would have been interested to see where that might lead, but I feel for this particular story, I'm glad it was not a focus.

Overall, it was a really intriguing read...a little over the top at times, but sometimes those make for the most memorable stories, right? Fans of clean suspense or even a great conspiracy are definitely going to enjoy this one.
