This is a great twisty psych thriller.
It's told from the narratives of Marisa, Elly and Claire - three friends from the Hamptons - and Jodi, a 25 year old PA who is expecting baby after a one night stand.
Jodi travels to the Hamptons to confront the baby's father, hoping to receive a payout.
It is so well written with, as the title would suggest, a few scandals thrown in. You end up suspecting everyone and thinking you know which way it's going to go (I can't go into more detail on what exactly as I don't want to spoil it) but it keeps your interest and leaves you wanting more.
Scandal is the perfect name for this delicious twisted book! The Hamptons is the setting for this thriller about three women who are the best of friends that all harbor their own destructive secrets. Enter a young pregnant woman who is hoping for a large payday when she comes to town to confront the father of her child, who just happens to be married to one of the three friends. This juicy novel was well written and impossible to put down. Kept me guessing until the very end. Highly recommend.
Mixed feelings about this one.
A struggle to get into, and the characters and dialogue weren’t great. The premise and the writing of the storyline was redeeming though - but not quite enough to make it easy reading.
Not one I will reread unfortunately.
This book just was not for me. I started/stopped this book numerous times before forcing myself to get through it. Maybe if I had liked just one of the characters I would have been interested in the story but it didn't happen.
Everybody has secrets, mostly small ones that don't hurt anyone but you still don't want them broadcasted to the world. This book is about how small secrets for one person can easily turn into large secrets that should never be shared. Nicola Marsh gives us the story of an empty nester who needs to find something to do. She decides to help a young pregnant woman without learning the whole story before hand. As her secrets are slowly revealed, readers must decide where the story is taking us. With enough quick changing turns to keep us hooked, THE SCANDAL charges right up to the very end.
The Scandal by Nicola Marsh was a brilliant book. I found this book well written, full of thrills and twists with lots of emotions with secrets between friends and I can't believe its all in one book!
I just loved it! and I highly recommend this book. So sit back. Turn Your phone, off get comfy and open this brilliant book and start to become apart of the story
Big thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Nicola Marsh for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the story of three women who are very close friends. Risa, who is married to Avery who has a bit of reputation as a flirt and is a very successful surgeon, is far from happy in her marriage especially since her twin daughters have just left home for university. Elly was married but found out that her husband already had a wife and three children so she is very wary of relationships but has had a string of married lovers. Clare is a police officer and her world falls apart when she discovers that her husband Dave is infertile. Jodi, a young pregnant girl arrives in town trying to find the father of her unborn baby and Risa befriends her. Little did any of them realise what an impact Jodi would have on their lives. All the women are harbouring secrets from each other and their husbands. This was a fabulous read, full of tension and suspense and lots of twists and turns. Definitely a book not to be missed.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book

This was a great thriller that was written in a manner that really made it impossible to put down. Lots of twists and turns, shocks, thrills, and chills! Makes you wonder if everyone has something to hide! Highly recommend to my fellow thriller lovers!
Will be sure to buzz it up!
Three women, Marisa, Elly and Claire, enjoy an exclusive lifestyle in the Hamptons but all are hiding secrets and unhappiness that they are desperate to hide.
Marisa is unhappily married to Avery. Her children have gone off to college so she is throwing herself into volunteer work. Elly has been dreadfully hurt by a bigamous husband and date raped by another man. She takes lovers to avenge herself on men in general by exposing their infidelity. Claire is a cop, yearning for a baby when she finds out her husband is infertile.
Into this situation arrives Jodi, scared and alone, 5 months pregnant and searching for her baby’s father.
I loved the way Nicola Marsh leaves plenty of mystery to increase anticipation. I had my suspicions throughout the book but the author cleverly misdirects readers so I don’t think anyone will guess all of twists!
There is a great deal of sadness at the extent of the unhappiness the women face in spite of their apparent lifestyle. All of the women have strength and determination but also such vulnerability that we as readers can’t help but sympathise even if we can’t condone their behaviour or even particularly like them.
The Scandal is a cracking read that shows appearances are not always what they seem, assumptions are dangerous, and trust is easily broken and difficult to mend…
A good thriller with well developed characters that kept me turning the pages! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced review copy.
I loved this unputdownable book!
It was a thrilling, unnerving read. The characters were realistic. The plot was gripping and fast-paced. Run, do not walk, out to get this fab book.
Thank you NetGalley.
There was a lot to like about this book - I love that it was set in the Hamptons and I liked the complexities of the 3 women and their partners.
There are so many secrets between the women and between their partner/husbands you will think you have guessed it and then the story goes in a different direction and you have to start again.
This is a very well written book and it kept me interested, but I did struggle with the characters at times, finding them quite hard to like at times!
Solid 4 and easy to read.
The descriptions of these characters and their dialog are absolutely ridiculous. No one has conversations like these women. Not to mention 2/3 wouldn’t be able to afford to live in the hamptons. And who brings a cake to your weekly wine night and doesn’t eat it? I’m really over thinly written, cliched characters.
Well written story, good pace, interesting characters. It made me think of a tv show I like.
I always love it when it's about secrets... drama...
Like in reality, we all have secrets we wish to keep hidden... but then someone new comes along and all hell breaks loose...
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was the perfect juicy read! I really loved all the characters and the storyline was very well developed. I would love to read more from this author.
Great mystery book! It took me until the end of the book to figure it out. Will read more books from this author.
I have mixed feelings about this book.
The plot was slightly far fetched. The characters were unlike able.
The first half was good and the second half was not as good.
Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author to allow me to get a free copy of this book for review. Marisa, Claire and Ely and friends and neighbors. Each of their lives is not exactly what they would like. Each of them is missing something to be happy. They meet occasionally like normal girlfriends do. Each keeps a secret from the other and when a mysterious pregnant girl enters the story, it will shake everybody's lives. Nice and interesting story.
This book was very well written. Nice and easy to read and flowed well. Had me on the edge of my seat. Wondering which way it was going to go. Great mystery can’t beat it.
I loved this book, it had great twists & turns. I loved the friends in the story, even though they were so different from each other they had respect for each other & got along well. Like everyone they all have secrets which they keep hidden til a new woman moves to their town and their secrets come out.
