The book Paris Orphan gripped my interest from the start. Jess’s story life story that changed from becoming a model to accept a position as a photographer suggested an in-depth life story of a woman during the Second World War. The book aims to describe the relationships between Jess, her friends and her previous lovers. The essence of the reading material focuses on the struggles and opportunities Jessie needed to face, especially during the war times. It also provides insight into the most difficult circumstances women needed to work and live.
The book offers a well-detailed explanation of war circumstances and the different roles people need to play. The book allows the reader to enjoy but also understand the seriousness of the time. I give Paris Orphan a thumbs up to any person that enjoys history combined with life experiences during the wartime. Jess' methods of dealing with dominant men, jealous women and most horror circumstances at the war hospitals provides an in-depth meaning of relevant events.
Jess aimed to contribute to society by investing her photographic skills in the most difficult times. This book presents a must-have for any reader who aims to gain insight into women's roles during the Second World War times.
I loved the preview of this book so much. It made me want to read more right away and I can't wait to finish the entire book. Jessica May is such a compelling female character! I also enjoyed the fact that this was a completely different facet to the genre of historical WWII fiction. I love that the focus is on a female photographer.
Great historical fiction novel and very unique as well!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the extended preview. I enjoyed what I read, especially it’s setting in wartime France during WWll with a woman photojournalist for Vogue that can literally hold her own with the GI’s. I love Jessica’s character, she’s a real pistol! Excited to learn more about the very likable Major Dan Hallworth and 4 year old Victorine, how they fit into the storyline.
Am counting down the hours to The Paris Orphan release date tomorrow, Sept/3/2019 to pick it back up.
I was able to read the five chapter preview of this book from Net Galley. I was completely captivated by the story and characters and can’t wait to read more! I hesitate giving the book 5 stars, because there is so much story left to tell. I’m anxious to read the rest of the book!
This was well written and seemed like a great read. I want to read the actual book. Too bad this is preview so I don't recommend anyone request this because you get left hanging. Im giving this a three just because a preview to me cannot be any higher than that.
Very engrossing yet I couldn't help to want to read more once sample was done.I enjoyed the sample and wanted to know more. The pacing and the storyline was fast and smooth, the characters well written and the story itself very engrossing.
I am a huge fan of WWII historical fiction, and I find it all fun to read. I am excited for the publishing of this book, and I will definitely read the whole thing!
From what I was able to read of this book during my extended preview it seems to be an enjoyable book. I will probably pick up a copy later on so that I can finish reading the story.

I've not read anything by this author before so was pleased to be able to read this extended preview to give me a flavour of what to expect from her
Well, I loved this. I can't wait to read the full novel
Set in WW2 and the language and scenes set are so evocative
If you enjoy historical fiction, this is definitely one to give a go
I did not realize I was only receiving an extended preview of Natasha Lester’s book The Paris Orphan. I came to the end and was confused and disappointed that it was not the entire book. So far I do not love the characters and am not sure I will purchase the book to continue reading. It really did not hold my interest. For me to really love a book I need to find a connection to someone in the story and in this short preview I did not find a connection. Thank you NetGalley and Forever Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read this extended preview.
The Paris Orphan Extended Preview by Natasha Lester.Women were not in the war zones unless they were nurses and there were not many of those. She enters the war zone to take photos of the war. . I cannot wait to read the rest of the story.
I flew through this extended preview! I am so excited for the book, I really appreciate the chance to start reading it early. This is a novel sent in the WW2 era and I am living for it. I love reading books that take place during this time period. This gave me some really good vibes and I can't wait to read the rest. The characters were being developed fairly well, though with such a small amount of the book I can't honestly tell you if they were completely fleshed out. But I look forward to the rest of it. Thanks Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read this little bit early!
I loved this preview. The author Natasha Lester managed to convey the problems that come with being a beautiful, smart and talented woman in a male dominated world. Although I have only read five chapters, I immediately want to read the whole book. The main problem being, I have to wait another month to finish reading this book.
Reading the early chapters Jessica May proved that she could hold her own in the fashion world where beautiful woman were wined and dined by rich and powerful men. Luckily for Jess, the war changed that, as nations turned to women to replace men to keep industries functioning, but would that last once the men returned home.
An endearing, sometimes funny story, beautifully written. Even based on such a short preview, I gave the book 5 stars.
Loved the cover and the extended preview. Can't wait to learn more about the characters. This is going to be a great read. Thank you Natasha Lester
The Paris Orphan, by Natasha Lester, is an extended preview, I am hooked, and look forward to publication of the book so that I can start over and read the novel as it should be read -- from beginning to end. For me, reading the preview was much more unsatisfying than I anticipated. Unfortunately, my request to read the entire book was declined. I can only award three stars, based on the truncated version, but I will return and edit this review after I read the whole book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the preview. in exchange for an honest review.
The cover is brilliant, and I'll read anything with "Paris" in the title. I enjoyed this book, the characters and the storyline. Thank you for allowing me to review this.
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review the extended preview of, "The Paris Orphan" by Natasha Lester. Even though this preview was only five chapters, I was captivated by the story! Jessica May is a strong and beautiful main character. I look forward to reading the rest of this wonderful book!
This is a must read!! Jess is a model, photographer, war photojournalist and will sweep you away as she tells about the war for the readers of Vogue. Amazingly written and full of emotion, it will definitely hit you in the heart strings
Jessica May, model turned photojournalist, Dan Hallworth, kind and brave army major, Victorine, four year old French orphan who wins the hearts of all who meet her - these are the characters I met in the six chapter excerpt. Descriptions of war-torn Italy with its battlefields and field hospitals along with the real-life figures sprinkled throughout have piqued my interest in reading the rest of the novel.
Thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the preview read of The Paris Orphan. After being introduced to Jessica May and her journey into WWII photographer and Journalist, I am eager to learn more about her adventures. And I am curious to see how her path, Victorine and Major Hallworth will continue to intersect.
This book is off to a fascinating start to me and I cannot wait to read the book in its entirety when published. If you a fan of WWII historical fiction, I would add this to your TBR list!
