I've read parts of this series off and on and enjoy the quilting background and great characters like Martha Rose. Interesting addition of the cultural of Jewish and Muslim religions, both of which I know very little. Definitely some twists and turns and a cliff hanger to keep it interesting. Great read.

This quilting series is like visiting old friends.

Martha's neighbor, Sonia Spigelman, has become a foster parent to eight year old Poppy Halaby. Martha gets herself involved in trying to find relatives of Poppy's parents, only to find herself facing "Jewish Royalty" n Rachel's side and "Muslim Royalty' on Ali's side, all he while trying to figure out whose side had them murdered - or was it Ali's undercover job with the FBI?

Interesting facts about quilting blend into this series as he Tuesday quilters group of interesting characters gather for their weekly meetings.

Plot twists, and religious rituals are always interesting as Martha hosts Sabbath.

I love cozies, but I've never read anything by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to discover protagonist Martha Rose, an avid quilter and amateur detective, is a great lead character. I wish her pregnant daughter, Quincy, was a larger part of the story, but I enjoyed Martha's boyfriend, an ATF agent.

I also enjoyed the cultural teachings about Judaism and the Muslim religion. In this novel, a young girl named Poppy is a foster child staying with Martha's neighbor. Poppy witnessed the murder of her parents. Her mother's Jewish family and father's Muslim family were estranged from Poppy's parents and never met the girl. Marth vows to keep Poppy safe while trying to find her a permanent home outside of the foster system.

Unfortunately, there were some cliff hangers at the end of this so I'm not sure what happens with several of the storylines. I'm definitely interested in finding out what happens next and will probably go back and read the earlier installments in the series. It's a fun cozy mystery.

I received a free copy of KNOT ON HER LIFE (Book 7 of the Quilting Mysteries) by Mary Marks in exchange for an honest review. Martha Rose is working happily on a quilt for her soon-to-be first grandchild when there’s an urgent summons to her front door. Young Poppy Halaby has come to seek help because her new foster mother is non-responsive. Martha verifies her friend is indeed ill, but still alive, and summons help. Martha takes in Poppy while her friend recovers and learns that Poppy may be targeted by the same murderer who killed her parents. After connecting to the young girl, Martha is determined to find someone amongst her parents’ estranged families to give Poppy the loving home she deserves. However, Poppy isn’t going to be able to live with any of her relatives until the killer is identified and captured. Martha will make sure Poppy has a safe new home even if Martha has to find the murderer to do it.

I liked this book. I had not read any of the prior books in the series, but I still connected to the characters and easily followed the story. I recommend this book to fans of Mary Marks, fans of the Quilting Mysteries, and to fans of cozy mysteries with sewing themes and/or storylines exploring the Jewish and Muslim communities.

Knot on Her Life by Mary Marks is a well told cozy mystery that is filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. Martha Ross is a strong, loving character that is extremely likable and filled with love and compassion for her friends and family.
When a brutal murder takes away a young girl's parents, Martha steps in and won't stop asking questions until the young girl is safe.
This story is filled with mystery and intrigue, capturing the reader's attention and keeping it until the reveal.
I hated that the story had to end, I was so wound up in the story that I forgot it had to end.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

I was hooked on this cozy mystery from the very first page when Martha Rose opens her door early in the morning and meets Poppy, an 8 year old foster child staying with her neighbor who has become ill. When Martha learns that Poppy's FBI agent father and pregnant mother have been murdered and that no one from either family is willing to take in this child, she makes it her mission to not only find a way to get these families involved, but also to find out who killed her parents. Martha is a feisty, intelligent woman with a great set of complementary characters, especially her fiancee Yossi. This is a complicated mystery that incorporates quilting tips along with a wealth of information about Jewish and Muslim customs and religious life. I couldn't put it down once I started it and think it is one of the most interesting books I have read all year. Kudos to Mary Marks !
