This author has penned an exciting, addictive paranormal series that is above all else fun ! Yes I know there are obstacles to overcome so that these Vampires can get their happy ever after but I just adore that no matter how long between books I'm always pulled right back into this world. Tarak escaped his imprisonment at the end of the last book Darkness Returns and this starts right after as he's loose and searching for a way to get his revenge.
I had no idea what to expect going in but thoroughly enjoyed meeting new species . If you wonder how this author can include Mermaids who can get one over on one as powerful as Tarak then prepare to have your expectations met and actually exceeded. Tarak survived his long imprisonment only because Waverly was commanded by Riven, her King to feed him but he has no idea that they share a common hatred of Riven. Tarak is tracking Inga, the Ogress who helped keep him imprisoned but has no idea the Mer Warriors are hunting him but when they arrive he's more than ready to bring it on !
The author has done an excellent job of transforming the angry, tortured soul that Tarak is and turning him into someone who can embrace and accept that Waverly and indeed others he thinks betrayed him actually care about him. The romance between the couple whilst not instant ( hurray !) is knee buckling and worked oh so well. Of course the bad guy gets his comeuppance and you won't believe exactly who starts that chain of events ! What I can say is Levet is back as his glorious, bumbling, magical and opinionated self. Plus my favourite Styxx, is here as he struggles to maintain his Kingly dignity but fails repeatedly and that always makes me smile.
Fans of the series will enjoy this book and I suspect be as eager for more as I am.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

In a review for the previous book in the Guardians of Eternity series, Darkness Returns, I stated that I was waiting for a number of characters’ stories and that included Tarak’s. Well, wishes do come true 😊

Beware the Darkness is Tarak’s story and it is everything I was hoping for and more. Full of excitement, intrigue and action, there is never a dull moment.

There are twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Levet, OMG, I hope he eventually gets his own book. Both him and Inga? I need to know what’s next for them.

This is a series that has yet to truly let me down. As always, I’m excited and chomping at the bit for the next book in this wonderfully compelling series.

I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

(4.5) I had some laugh out loud moments, I had some catch my breath moments wondering if someone was going to die. Loved the twist at the end (well done). Ahhh. Now I need to put my feet up and just smile. I was anxiously awaiting Tarak after he escaped in book 13. Thrilled to be able to read his story. If you like paranormal, steamy sex and some suspense, this is a great read.
I think it could be read as a standalone because enough info is provided, but I feel like you will miss out on all the elements and character development that has been building. I mean we see Styx again! Yes I love Styx (vampire) . Levet (gargoyle) plays pretty prominent with Inga (Toll/Mer hybrid) as they intertwine trying to find Tarak (vampire) and make sure he isn't out to destroy the world. Tarak is of course after revenge and has Waverly (mer) who kept him sane with her blood, is with him searching for her sister. There are several story lines running through this book that all interconnect. I I am curious if we are going to see more about Inga and possibly Levet in the next book. Levet pops in most of this series, but is he coming into a little more in depth? Hmm. In any case, what ever is next, I am there! Thank you Lyrical Press, Alexander Ivy and Net Galley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.

I have to admit this readers isn't much for Supernatural romance but I really like Alexandra Ivy Mystery romance series.

The story moves quickly with a mystery that is intertwined with the other in the series but first time readers of the series will be able to start with book 14 and know what is going on from beginning to end.

Readers of this series will enjoy this series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Lyrical Press for the advance copy of Alexandra Ivy Beware The Darkness

Ivy does it again -- writes a hero to love & matches him with a worthy lady who finds it as hard to not to love as the reader does and he can't help but adore. We also get Levet playing the Knight in Shining Armor (KISA) to a damsel in need (but this time doesn't have an annoying hero stealing both his glory & lady) :) While not a favorite among the series, the story was well paced with a couple nice twists & turns that kept me happily reading from cover to cover. I'm happy she's returned to this "world" and look forward to what's next.

I honestly hadn’t realised how much I missed this series and Ms Ivy’s incredible writing style until I read Darkness Returns. With that story, I was once again thrown into the complex and dangerous world of the paranormal and all the things that go bump in the night.

Beware the Darkness, picks up where Darkness Returns left off, and follows Tarak’s pursuit of revenge and justice for his centuries of captivity. But this isn’t just another Vampire story; readers are introduced to more species of the paranormal world and the ongoing fight for supremacy in their volatile and ego driven culture. I initially wasn’t sure how I felt about the inclusion of Mere-beings in this genre, but Ms Ivy’s introduction of these beings was done seamlessly.

Tarak and Waverly are fabulous characters who have endured a forced companionship over the years, with their comparable hatred of Riven and Waverly's compassion and guilt over Tarak's suffering, being the eventual catalyst for their explosive romantic connection. Great world building, a fast-paced and exciting plot and a passion that has had centuries to simmer and burn. These are all the reasons this is a must read for anyone who has loved this series and Ms Ivy’s writing. I can’t wait for more!

Another hit in a great series. This one has Tarek, who has finally been released after 500 years of imprisonment. Waverly is a Mermaid princess, who has been feeding Tarek, who is a vampire, during his capture. The evil Raven, who proclaimed himself King of the Merpeople, is the one who held him and has been living off his energy source. When Tarek returns for revenge, he meets up again with Waverly and the sparks fly. I did like this one overall, although I also have read many in the series, which does help. Was also pleased to see Levat again, the tiny gargoyle that women love and men hate. He cracks me up. Would recommend this book, but encourage you to read a few of the earlier ones to get a feel first.

Finally we get Tarak’s story. He’s been captive for 500 years by the king Riven of mer-folk. Waverly is a mermaid and has been feeding Tarak and helping him when she can. She has been held captive in her own way. Tarak has escaped and is ready for his revenge against Riven.
The story is fast paced and we see Styx to come to help search for Tarak. He wants to make sure Tarak is not a danger to anyone. Level is still under Inga’s spell and they are on their own adventure to Riven.
Tarak and Waverly are a great couple and I loved how their story went. They knew they had strong feelings for each other.
Another great story in the Guardians of Eternity series and I look forward to the next one.

I am so pleased with the twist of direction the author has brought to this series. The vampire world seemingly had run it's course but then...BAM ! We learn about this group of exiled Vamps. Of course the King and his minions are still somewhat involved. But these are fresh characters and fresh adventures. I mean, Mer people, ogres, witches, vampires and of course that love to hate gargoyle, Levet.

Tarak has an interesting past. Newly released from his prison, he seeks revenge. But the woman befriending him and giving him sustenance for 500 years has also earned a right to be listened to. Waverly tries to turn Tarak
away from destroying the Mer King. Together they set out on quest for truth and justice.

Great world building. Loved learning of the different creatures and their customs. I'm looking forward to more stories in this series.

Beware the Darkness is another well-written paranormal romance by Ms. Ivy .THey just keep getting better and better.

I love Ivy’s series The Sentinels and Ares Security. I took this book on that experience. Unfortunately I wandered into a well established fantasy series that I was unprepared for. The world building and canon has long been established she left me in the fantasy dust. I liked the characters well enough but for someone new to the series this was a chore.

Tarak is a vampire who has been imprisoned for five centuries. His only reprieve was when a beautiful mermaid visited him so he could feed. After being freed, he goes after the merman responsible, Riven. Waverly is the mermaid who fed Tarak for centuries. She has been looking for her sister and wants to help Tarak bring Riven down. When they get thrown into a prison together, Tarak finally admits that Waverly is his mate. Riven has been draining Taeak’s power forever but can he figure out how he’s doing it and stop him?
Action, steamy, and magic. You have vampires, ogress, gargoyles, and mer-people. Told from different points of view. Great story that takes you to another world.

Are you ready for a great adventure cause that's what you get when you read a Alexandra Ivy book. From the very first book of this series I've been mesmerized by all the different characters. This time we have Tarak a vampire who has been imprisoned for hundreds of years and now he wants revenge. Waverly is a mermaid princess trying to help him. Of coarse there is Levit who is my all time favorite gargoyle and I'm really liking Inga the half ogress half mermaid. We see some old friends from previous books. This was a wonderful book, Fast paced, sexy love story and evil bad guy.Keep up the great work looking forward to the next one.

Can't wait for the next one, these stories are addictive. Tarak is on the rampage to kill those who imprisoned him. Waverly helped keep him sane over the years. Been reading this series since it first came out, hope for more.

Well that’s it, I want a vampire for Christmas. Tarak is a clan chief who was imprisoned by the King of the mermen. Waverly is a princess mermaid who is being blackmailed into feeding him. A love like no other begins to build but can it survive the many trials? Inga and Levite return as well. This book like the others have suspense, romance, and chuckles in it. And some surprises as well!! This author never fails to keep you interested! I read this as a ARC from netgalley. I gave this book a yummy 5+ stars and if I could give more I would.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't impressed with this paranormal romance as I have been by the author's other works. Slow to pick up and heavy on the world building. Characters lacked depth and I didn't find either protagonist interesting. Just not for me.

I really enjoyed the last book in this series, Darkness Returns, but had a difficult time getting into this one. I enjoyed the interaction between most of the characters but the love story felt slow and uneven to me. I prefer a faster paced novel but that's just me. Enjoyable.
