Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Claws is the fourth book in A Cat Lady Mystery series. I haven't read the others but I think I will now! Lara Caphart and her Aunt Fran run High Cliff Shelter for Cats out of the Folk Victorian house in Whisker Jog, New Hampshire. When a local health inspector, who has sanctioned High Cliff and is threatening to shut them down, is found murdered, Lara starts investigating in order to save her business.
This is a well-written cozy. The mystery is creatively developed and there are enough clues to keep one guessing. The victim even has a fascinating backstory. The strength of the link between Lara and the murder is weak. Given that, I thought Lara had a low tolerance for stress and no coping skills. She freaked out beyond a reasonable amount for the threat that existed. There is a small element of paranormal in this book. That's not normally my thing but it isn't a main focus so it wouldn't stop me from reading others.
Fun, solid mystery.m well written with dimensional characters and cats with personality. Believable ending. Satisfying.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc
This is the fourth book in the series, and I hope there are many more.
The story was one in which I could not put the book down, it grabbed me from the beginning and did not let me go!
This book has delightful characters that I love reading about.
The cat shelter is a great premise that does not take away from the mystery, and includes a touch of the paranormal.
This is a must read cozy series and I highly recommend it!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Claws of Action which is the fourth book in this great series.
Enjoyed this book couldn’t put it down.
The storyline was strong and it was all about Cats which is always a bonus for me.
Enough red herrings to keep you guessing, until the end I never guessed.
Definitely recommend this book and look forward for the next one to come out.
Many thanks to Kensington,Lyrical underground as well as NetGalley for advance copy for a honest review.
I was happy to be back in New Hampshire with Linda Reilly's delightful cast of characters. The latest in the A Cat Lady Mystery series had twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. Although one must suspend disbelief in 'Claws of Action', it is also filled with many difficult and realistic life experiences which blend to make a perfect balance. It's not just a 'fluffy' cozy, there is plenty of heartache and heartwarming to round it out. I highly recommend the entire series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
One way to judge how much I like a book is by how hard it is to put down. I know I love this one because I found it really hard to stop reading before it was over. The mystery in Claws of Action is a bit tricky to solve, since the victim is disliked by many, and I was completely blown away when the culprit was revealed! I love the main characters in this book: Lara, her Aunt Fran Fran, and Gideon, plus the resident cats at the High Cliff Shelter for Cats. The goings-on at the shelter, Lara's relationship with her aunt, her boyfriend, and her friends, and the intriguing mystery combine to make this an easy, fun read!
I received an advance copy of this book. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
One of my favorite series, I bumped this right to the top of my reading list as soon as I was approved for an ARC. And it did not disappoint! Lara Caphart and her Aunt Fran run a small no-cage cat shelter out of their home in Whisper Jog, NH. After many new renovations they are almost ready to open up a new area and expand their Read to a Cat program. That is, until a surprise visit from a health inspector threatens them with a cease and desist order. Then inspector is found dead the next day and they end up on the list of suspects. Peopled with a likeable cast of characters along with a number of credible suspects, the story moves quickly and keeps you guessing.
New to me series, but loved the cat shelter/reading room theme. The author is able to keep the mystery interesting and keeps the reader guessing in this well done story.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!
Linda Reilly is one of my favorite cozy authors, so I jumped at the chance to read her newest offering! I love the cat shelter theme, and the reoccuring cat Blue! It's a stand out idea in a sea of themed cozies, and it's still working well four books in. The actual mystery took some unraveling, as there was quite a few players with different stakes, but I am happy withe the outcome! I had suspicions, but couldn't see the motive.
This series and author just keep getting stronger. If you are in the market for a new favorite cozy, consider this one! Five stars!
If you like cats and a good mystery to solve, grab this book! This is a new-to-me author and I wasn't sure what to expect, her writing is excellent. This book is well written and grabs you on the first page. It is full of twist and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. I really enjoyed reading this book. I received a free copy of CLAWS OF ACTION (Book 4 of the Cat Lady Mysteries) by Linda Reilly in exchange for an honest review. Lara and her Aunt Fran run a cat shelter out of their home. When Lara discovered people wanted to simply spend time with the cats and, maybe, read to them, she hired a contractor to build a reading room for this purpose. Just as the room is completed, a health inspector, Evonda Fray, shows up with a bad attitude, claims the shelter now qualifies as a cat café, and threatens to close down the entire shelter. Concerned, Lara and Aunt Fran immediately consult an attorney. When Evonda is found murdered, suspicion naturally falls on Lara and Aunt Fran since they had a recent dispute with the woman. However, Evonda wasn’t just difficult to cat lovers; Lara soon finds out the woman had a host of enemies. Lara knows she’s innocent, so whodunit?
I liked this book. I haven’t read any of the prior novels in the series, but I had no problem connecting to the characters or following the storyline. I recommend this book to fans of Linda Reilly, fans of the series, and fans of cozy mysteries with cat themes.
