Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
All Colors by Amalia Hoffman is a short board book that uses chalk drawings to introduce little ones to colours. Each colour is represented by a unique scribble. One by one, these scribbles are pieced together and form a picture at the end. It was fun to try to guess what each scribble would end up as. I wasn't a huge fan of the art myself, but can see where young learners might enjoy it.
***Many thanks to Netgalley and Schiffer Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was just an average picture book about colours. The use of chalk as an example was interesting but overall, I have seen everything this book offers before. It wasn't bad, I just didn't find it that memorable in the world of baby and toddler colour books.
This board book is very artsy. It's simple, colourful, whimsical and a wonderful way to introduce kids to the colour spectrum. As each splash of colour is featured it is discovered that it is really a body part of a little person. Each colour add-on morphs into a beautiful little boy and once he's complete the author doesn't stop there. Not wishing for the little guy to be in the universe all alone she continues making friends for him to play with and enjoy.
This delightful book not only teaches the names and beauty of different colours it highlights the uniqueness and diversity of others. It's a celebration of acceptance and friendship. The illustrations are vibrant, funky and fun. I highly recommend this book.
All Colors was a beautiful book with incredible texture. It brought me great joy and I think children will enjoy learning about colors with this book. Excellent as a gift for young children.
This is a gorgeous board book for Littles! It not only deftly introduces colors but has them weave together to create a boy and his friends. I loved it!
Thank you to Amalia Hoffman, Schiffer Publishing Ltd., and NetGalley for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for an honest review!
