I recently picked up TWEET CUTE and I am loving it. I find Pepper’s character one that really resonates with me. Her perfectionist personality and wit are a lot of fun. And for all my banter loving readers- you’ll find some great banter here!
I was super excited for this one. It was getting great reviews, but I honestly found myself getting bored. I didn’t really like the characters or the storyline. I can see why others adore it, I guess it just wasn’t for me.
Such a cute book to read in these hard times. I recommend everyone pick it up. Thanks so much for letting me read it.
Listen up, You’ve Got Mail fans! In this new romantic comedy, Jack and Pepper are classmates at an Upper East Side private school. Unlike their privileged peers—and unbeknownst to each other—they spend their leisure hours managing the social media accounts for their families’ respective restaurants. Pepper’s family owns a hugely profitable burger chain; Jack’s family owns a beloved deli on the Lower East Side. When a twitter battle about a grilled cheese recipe erupts between the two businesses, Jack and Pepper are each playing to win—but they don’t know they’re fighting each other. This breezy read features snappy dialogue and a slowburn friends-to-something-more story, while closely following the beats of You’ve Got Mail. I read this adorable (and chaste) story in a single evening.
Meet Pepper, swim team captain, chronic overachiever, and all-around perfectionist. Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming ― mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account. Enter Jack, class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time. All’s fair in love and cheese ― that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitter war. Little do they know, while they’re publicly duking it out with snarky memes and retweet battles, they’re also falling for each other in real life ― on an anonymous chat app Jack built. review: A debut novel with a unique plot line? Sign me up! I really loved the premise of the book and wish I had enjoyed it more. It was a cute, cheesy read but I wasn’t expecting it to be about high schoolers and that threw me a bit! Although I couldn’t relate to the characters, I really enjoyed them. Jack and Pepper’s palpable chemistry totally made the story. Their stubbornness and banter were highly entertaining and I loved seeing what was up their sleeves! The book did feel a bit long at certain parts between the twitter war and some of the dialogue. But, if you’re looking for a fluffy, cute read – go for it! rating: 3.5 out of 5⭐️

Here’s an adorable YA contemporary novel that’s plenty of fun to add to your TBR. This one has all the romcom content and is as the title implies - very cute.
Pepper and Jack go to the same school. She’s a super dedicated student with her sights set on the Ivy League, is captain of the swim team and in all her spare time helps maintain her family business’s, a huge fast food chain called Big League Burger, twitter and social accounts.
Jack is constantly in the shadow of his twin brother, Ethan, plays the part of class clown and feels pressured to give up his dreams to take over his family’s deli, Girl Cheesing, someday.
When Big League Burger posts an ad for their new menu item to Twitter, the recipe is nearly identical to the recipe that Girl Cheesing has been serving for years. The incident creates an all out twitter feud between the two companies and Jack and Pepper’s are the ones running the accounts.
It’s been a minute since I’ve read a YA contemporary and this one was really well done. It has all the familiar elements that we love about teen romantic comedies, and had some really sweet moments. If you’re looking for something lighter to read, this is a perfect choice. Perfect for readers who love Jenny Haan, Morgan Matson, Kasie West or Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Broka.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.
I loved this one! It is light and fun. The perfect read when you need to tune out the world. I will definitely be recommending this often! Thank
It starts off slow and kind of dense, but once the action begins, it's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. It reads as a true epic, one that makes you feel the world really has been reshaped as you read it. Would recommend.
This is exactly the kind of book that I am here for! I was so pleasantly surprised when I picked up this novel to read it, as it had been a while since I read the synopsis so I didn't quite remember what it was about. The family drama and the backstory was so good! I love that eventually the two sides were able to come together to get over their past struggles.
Warning: this book will make you hungry. 🤤
Absolutely one of the cutest books I've ever read. Pepper & Jack (Pepperjack 🧀) are so cute I just can't handle it. 😍
The Upper East Side setting was perfect and gave me all the Gossip Girl vibes (speaking of Gossip Girl, I loved all the GG references and other movies/TV/pop culture references 😂). All the food descriptions in this book sounded delicious and made me hungry and I need to try some of the dessert creations asap.
I really enjoyed Emma Lord's writing style, it was easy to fly through, and I loved the tweets, texts and few pictures scattered throughout the story. The characters felt extremely real, acted like real teenagers (very appreciated in a YA book!) and I could picture them all vividly. I need some more books in this world - companion novels maybe?! I'll read anything Emma Lord writes.

I loved this book, absolutely ADORED it!
There are so many aspects of this book that were done so well I don't even know where to start. From family dynamics, friendships and budding relationships, to academic pressures, finding yourself and following your dreams, this book has it all and knocked it out of the park!
I really enjoyed the dual perpectives of Pepper and Jack, but have to say that I especially loved Pepper and how she just oozed sass and sarcasm. I saw so much of myself in her when I was that age, and it was a really great time. I also really enjoyed the use of Twitter as a main component of the story, it felt very fresh and relevant and was such a fun addition.
All in all I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a sweet, witty and charming read, and I greatly look forward to what this author puts out next!
In Tweet Cute high achieving Pepper Evans, daughter of the owner of Big League Burger, gets into a Twitter war with Jack Campbell, whose family owns a deli named Girl Cheesing. The deli claims Big League has stolen the recipe for the Campbell family grilled cheese classic. Jack, an aspiring programmer, whose father expects him to take over the deli, tweets a snarky comment about the theft and Pepper's mother instructs her to respond. They get into a public battle that goes viral. Meanwhile, they are confiding in each other anonymously on a messaging app that Jack created. This reimagining of You've Got Mail, focuses on two teens, whose personal aspirations conflict with their family loyalties, unwittingly finding solace in one another.
This is the cheesiest book I've read in a long time and it was delicious! I loved the build of the relationship between Pepper and Jack. I loved the inclusion of social media and how it is intertwined, like it or not, into our lives and business life. (Side note social media managing is my job so well done on depicting this!). I think if you can stomach the sweet and appreciate the cozy kitchen feel this book is for you.
Tweet Cute is easy-to-read, enjoyable, and had me smiling throughout the whole novel. Tweet Cute follows Pepper and Jack as they navigate the twitter war between their families while juggling the growing feelings they have for each other.
I LOVED how this book was written, and I felt that the characters were well-written and multidimensional. I really enjoyed how we could see the chemistry between Jack and Pepper and I thought their relationship was cute and wholesome.
I felt as if the author did a good job in not only encapsulating the love story, but also accurately depicting the high school senior experience, and the setting was well written.
I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely be looking out for more books from the author.
Cute, adorable, and fun read for those who love hate to love romances. I was intrigued when a couple of reviewers compared this book to a modern You've Got Mail, one of my favorite movies. I'm glad a picked up this book because it was super cute. Love Pepper and Jack frenemies to love relationship.
Recommend to fans of Kasie West and Jenn Bennett
Tweet Cute is a fun, adorable and witty book full of mouth-watering food, Twitter wars, sassy teenagers and complicated family relationships.
The main characters, Pepper and Jack, are both lovable characters; Pepper is determined and sassy, while Jack is kind and funny and both of them have flaws and insecurities that make them feel like real people. Pepper and Jack’s relationship starts with them feeling a mix between curiosity and irritation towards each other and it evolves into a tentative friendship then a very close frienship and finally a romantic relationship. Seening the development of their relationship is heartwarming and sweet and one of the best parts of the story. This book has a slow-burn, adorable romance between two very different people who have a strong connection.
Twitter plays an important part in the development of their relationship because Pepper and Jack run the social media accounts for their family restaurants and get into an anonymous Twitter war, which was really entertaining to read because both Pepper and Jack can be incredibly snarky and also because the author uses very current references to memes and pop culture to make the Twitter exchanges feel real and be engaging for the reader. Nonetheless, the Twitter war doesn’t remain anonymous for long and it ends up both bring Pepper and Jack closer together but also creating conflict in their relationship.
But Twitter is not the only online space where Jack and Pepper’s lives anonymously entertwine becuase it turns out that they have been talking to each other through an anonymous app for students of their school. After reading the synopsis, it’s easy to believe that this is gonna be a big part of the story, but that’s not the case and it actually feels like adding this element to the story doesn’t really contribute much to Pepper and Jack’s relationship because most of their interactions in the app happen before the book starts. Nonetheless, the few exchanges on the app that are present in the book are entertaining and including this element doesn’t take anything away from the story, so it’s not a big deal.
While the online exchanges play a part in Pepper and Jack’s relationship, this book focuses a lot on their interactions and their connection in real life and that works really well and it makes the story more charming and appealing. Another thing that works really well is the dual perspective because that way we get to know both characters better and they feel more three dimentional but also because it makes this story actually feel like the story of both of them as individuals and as a couple. Lastly, this book does a very good job of depicting complicated relationships with family members, wether it’s with parents or siblings. This element adds depth to the story and it makes it more relatable.
Overall, Tweet Cute is an engaging and entertaining story which focuses on an adorable romance between two characters that are very different from each other but that have an amazing relationship.
I received an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you are looking for a cute enemies to lovers/ mistaken identity romance then I think you might enjoy this one. I absolutely adored this book and thought about it often when I wasn't reading it. Our two main characters are Pepper and Jack who don't get along in school but unbeknownst to Pepper he is the person she has been talking to on a chat app that the whole school uses. Pepper also doesn't know that Jack is the creator of the app even though his personality in school doesn't portray him as someone who would put in the work to create an app let alone put in any work. But Pepper and Jack keep getting paired up together when he takes his twin brothers place for diving captain to make plans with Pepper and also a Twitter war between their families restaurants.
As real people begin shipping them from their twitter war, Pepper and Jack start to grow even closer and maybe even consider trying a relationship out. But Pepper can't help but continue to hope that her secret chat is with her crush which is so far from Jack.
Everything about this plot spoke to me with it being an enemies to lovers and also the idea of a twitter war between the two main characters. I loved the characters and appreciated that they were both flawed characters as well and didn't always do things the right way. The romance aspect of the story was super cute and I was so excited for Pepper/Jack to figure things out and I found myself smiling while I was reading the story.. There was also a lot more going on besides the twitter war and the romance. The story also featured topics of family, friendship, college, and figuring out who you are and the expectations that are put on you. Honestly, everything about this book was just totally me and I adored it. Even though my actual rating is 4.5/5 stars its a really high 4 stars and closer to the 5 star than 4 so for the sake of goodreads I will be giving it 5 stars.
4.5/5 stars
I finally read my ARC of this lol.
Okay this one was such a cute YA romance. I love the budding romance between Jack and Pepper (or PepperJack if you will), how they started off not really being friends, then in a twitter feud, sort of being friends then kissiiiiing. Of course them getting to the kiss, and after the kiss, was not without alot of complications.
I just loved how awkward the tension between them became when they realized oh no I think i like this person! It just felt so perfectly right for two teenagers just trying to figure their selves out.
I did wish the book had some actual recipes in it though. Pepper's weird mish mash desserts sounded really intriguing and would have been great for readers like myself to try to make them :)
Now while i enjoyed the whirlwind of Pepper's and Jack Twitter feud turned to friends then more, I have to say WOW did I not like Pepper's mom at all. Seriously, she was terrible. She forced her daughter to engage in a Twitter war on her company's corporate account, even after Pepper tried to beg off several times. Pepper's discomfort over the entire thing was made clear many times but her mother didn't care. And the fact that this entire feud came about because of some grudge Pepper's mom had against Jack's dad????? Who does that to their kid??? Yes she apologized in the end but damn you couldn't see what you were doing to your child before this all blew up like this?
I really felt it for Pepper, that pressure she felt to be the best at her posh school. And how Jack always felt he was in his twin's shadow. the author perfectly captured that struggle amidst the Twitter war.
I will say i felt iffy about Pepper basically misunderstanding something that happened between her and Pooja how ever long ago and just writing her off as her competition. This book is set in New York City folks and yet the one POC who has any real mention in the book, or speaking lines is of course the white MC's competition??? I'm glad they sorted it out and became friends but yeh, that didn't sit right with me.
Anyways, I enjoyed this cute romance.
Pepper and Jack both go to the same school, they both are children of parents who run a food store – Pepper’s mother with a huge worldwide burger chain, and Jack’s parents with their small New York deli. When Big League Burger are accused of stealing a grilled cheese recipe from Girl Cheesing, both Pepper and Jack are dragged into a Twitter war like none other!
I absolutely loved this book! It was so cute with characters that you loved and rooted for. There are also lots of desserts and food items mentioned, so do not read this book when you’re hungry! Pepper and Jack were both lovable characters, and I was really rooting for them to do well in their lives. The romance is not a instant romance, it builds up throughout the course of the book, and it was so cute and adorable!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a complimentary ebook copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
This book was SO cute and SO wholesome, I can't get over it. I'm far too tardy with this review, but the dynamics of the story were just extremely powerful. One moment I was shivering in anticipation for Pepper and Jack's next Tweet, the next I was swooning over the romance, and the next I was absolutely sobbing over the relationship between Pepper and her mom.
Tweet Cute is a contemporary that does everything right. It's moving and powerful and you feel such a strong connection to the characters. It's also fun and light and silly--I mean, their names are Pepper & Jack! PepperJack! There's grilled cheese and big corporations and Twitter fights, and it's all in all such an entertaining and fun read I would highly recommend.
