"101 More Mixed Media Techniques. An exporation of the versatile world of mixed media art" was written by Cherril Doty, Heather Greenwood, Monica Moody, and Marsh Scott and published by Quarto Publishing Group - Walter Foster. It follows the "101 Mixed Media Techniques: Master the fundamental concepts of mixed media art" written by Cherril Doty and three other authors and published six months earlier, but can be used as a stand-alone.
The book gives a brief introduction into Tools & Materials and into Color Theory before providing 17 sections with various techniques that also can be mixed and matched. Every section (e.g., Drips, Drops & Sprays, Fabrics & Fibers, Using Metals, Alcohol Inks, Gelatos, Washi Tape, ...) gives and explanation of the particular media technique, shows different approaches for the topic, and gives a detailed list which materials are used. The examples in the various chapters use a step-by-step approach so that even the beginning artists can copy them for their own projects.
After having been able to watch a presentation about Mixed Media Technique in an online seminar I was particularly interested in this book. I highly recommend it for beginners and advanced artists since it provides plenty of ideas and inspiration for using and combining methods for ones own projects. The pictures in the book are colorful and extremely helpful to recreate the projects.

The most beautiful, fascinating and complete Mixed Media book I have ever read since 2014, when I started pursuing Arts as a hobby and started buying lots of Arts books to learn by myself. This book teaches many techniques using colored pencils, alcohol markers, watercolor, ephemera, gelatos, etc... Highly recommended to artistic people like me. Thank you Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved "101 More Mixed Media Techniques" by Cherril Doty, Heather Greenwood, Monica Moody, Marsh Scott! There are so many great ideas in this book for any aspiring artist. There are probably lots of new ideas for someone who has been painting, creating, crafting all kinds of art projects for years. Literally, there are more than a hundred great ideas, how-to guides and what types of materials you need to create the effects, and then lots and lots of samples to look at.

Again, I loved this book! I feel like if you just started incorporating one or two of these techniques every artwork, it could take years to make full utilization of each and every one. Wow! What a wealth of information and inspiration packed into one book. This book makes me want to find the original.

This would also be super fun to to help inspire your kids to try. Maybe they are bored at your local art museum, bring them home, crack open this book, and try to master a new technique together. For me, this book is like a year's worth of art school full of ideas to dig into. These effects created can transform an interesting looking start of a painting into an eye-popping, attention-grabbing masterpiece that gets people thinking. That is the power these techniques hold to take your artwork to the next level.

I received this eBook free of charge from Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

This book has a lot of great ideas. There isn't a lot of detail about each technique, but it would be handy if you're just looking for something new to get out of a rut. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.

01 More Mixed Media Techniques consists of 17 areas of different ways to use mixed media in your artwork. I love mixed media because it allows for a lot of variety and freedom with few rules. Mixing different mediums in a project can really reap some stunning results using such things as used tea bags, coffee and even eggshells to create an aged effect! There are ways to incorporate yarn, cloth and fibers into your artwork. There are many images to show examples of the results you can get from the many methods described. With the variety of mediums discussed in this book you can make unique art in your own style. I learned several new-to-me ways to use inks, pencils, markers and pastels. Viewing this book has been a real treat for me. So much eye candy!

I would like to thank the authors, Quarto Publishing Group, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this book for an honest review.

I think maybe my hopes for this book were too high. I mean it does show a lot of techniques but probably the only one I had never heard of was using your vehicle for embossing. Most of the techniques don’t have enough info about them to be truly useful. Just telling me I can cut up magazines to paint over people isn’t something I’d want to pay to be told.

That said, if you just want a list of new supplies to use then, this is basically an extended version of every art book’s supplies section. So if all you want is that? This book is fine. If you want more in depth into on techniques? Look elsewhere.

I'm an elementary school teacher and I'm always looking for fun new art activities to do with my students. Although many ideas in this book would be too hard for young children, there are tons of fun ideas for older children, teens, and adults. This book is inspiring and provides so many ways to create unique, one of a kind art.
