Obsessed with this book and Talia Hibbert! Her writing is wonderful and this book was such a delight to read. I love Red and Chloe!

Chloe Brown, perpetually ill and fatigued, has a near brush with death. While taking a walk a careening car nearly misses her. After a panic attack, Chloe realizes she doesn't really live her life. She does nothing, has no friends and goes no where. She is sick and tired of being sick and tired. She makes a list and makes some changes.

First change, move out of her family home and away from her hovering relatives. Chloe has no idea how to begin ticking things off her list. She decides to find a coach and who better to help than her new neighbor, Red the artist. Chloe find more than a life, she finds her happily ever after.

The first book in the Brown Sisters series, by Talia Hibbert is amazing and just what you need as a pick me up during this pandemic.

Chronic pain and fibromyalgia are somethings that run in my family and I’ve been learning how to cope with my chronic pain for a long time. It’s so nice to see representation like this that’s actually fairly accurate to what I and my family experience (not everyone has the same symptoms or side effects) while also making Chloe a strong person who knows herself and her body. Many books with disability rep that I’ve read generally make the person seem helpless or unable to take care of themselves and it just makes me so happy to be able to feel seen as someone who *can* take care of myself and my pain.

Don't let the cute cover fool you; this book is plenty steamy. But it is also funny, realistic and low on angst which is what has kept me from liking a lot of contemporary romance I've tried.

This was picked for my book club, & I have no idea why. It was cute for a romance but not exactly "high quality literature". I don’t get the choice, but nevertheless it was an okay easy read.

I feel like this book somehow went on for so long while nothing actually happened. Yay for Chloe she has a chronic illness and is taking charge of her life! A night out at the bar and a camping trip was not enough to make a well rounded story for me. Not a huge fan of this one, definitely a pass from me.

This romance was more engaging than many contemporary romances- both the male and female leads were well developed and interested. I found the inclusion of a lead with a chronic illness interesting and thought provoking. I've already recommended it to a friend with a chronic illness.

Chloe has a chronic illness which I enjoyed seeing since I suffer from a chronic illness as well. Just because I look okay on the outside doesn’t mean I am.

“You think this is a big deal because, no offense, you’ve had a lot of people in your life who claimed to care about you but didn’t act like it. That’s not me. I can cook, and right now, you can’t. So I’m doing it for you because that’s how people should behave; they should fill in each other’s gaps. Don’t think about it too hard.”

*sighs* Red

I love the way he didn’t treat Chloe like she was going to break but was there when she needed the help. He wasn’t pushy or arrogant about it which was great.

Chloe and Red had awesome banter. I loved the tension they had in the beginning. Seeing them lower their guards down and fall for each other was everything.

I loved the family dynamic of the book and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

This was so adorable! I loved the chronic illness rep in this, and I couldn't get enough of how considerate Red was of Chloe's illness. Chloe and Red were such original characters; I loved how obstinate Chloe was and how sweet and persistent Red was. Their hate to love journey was such a fun ride, and I'm really excited for the sequel!

Not really my genre, I read the book for a bookclub I am in. I wouldn't likely read another book by the Author as it was too explicit for me.

This quirky rom com is about a woman living with fibromyalgia, who is looking to get back to living with a bucket list of sorts. It includes items like ride a motorcycle, get drunk on a night out, things that she might have done if her life hadn't changed with the chronic pain that comes with fibromyalgia. On her journey, she gets her superintendent, Red, involved in helping her check off items on her list, and well, things get a little complicated.

I enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was great that the author shone a spotlight on a disease that is often ignored. Chloe is a likable character and you really want her to succeed. She seems cute and quirky, from her personality to her obsession with cardigans.

I minused one star because I'm not a huge fan of love / hate type of love stories. I think when two people are awful to each other, it's probably not the healthiest way to show that you're interested.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for both hard copy and ebook copies of this book as host of the Oakville chapter of the Girly Book Club. All opinions expressed are my own.

Get a life, Chloe Brown is a perfect book to read in the summer. It is a light, steamy beach read. The characters are likeable and relatable. Chloe struggles daily with issues that she is working to overcome and has the support of her family to become more independent. Chloe writes a list of things to accomplish and doesn’t realize how the list can impact her future relationships. Red, a superintendent at her new apartment comes along and she works to find her strength to allow him into her life and see what her future can look like. Great read, look forward to reading the next book about Chile’s sister Dani Brown.

I finally got around to reading the first in the Brown Sisters series. While I wasn't a fan of Chloe at the start, she slowly started to grow on me and, by the end, I loved her. It is so great to read a romcom where the main character isn't a perfect human.

𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐀 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄, 𝐂𝐇𝐋𝐎𝐄 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝗪𝐍 by Talia Hibbert ⁣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5⁣
Adorable, hilarious, and ste-hee-heeamy (definitely channeling Eric Matthews’ “Feeny Call” for this one)!⁣

YOU GUYS. Why did everyone let me wait so long to read this book?? Like, wow. Wowowow! Not only is this book sweet and funny and oh-so-hot, it is also beautiful and raw and honest. I had no idea how much I’d learn from and adore this book but damn, am I grateful for this story that will leave a mark on me forever.⁣

Chloe Brown is one of the most relatable characters I’ve ever read, hands down. Not only is she charming, witty, and incredibly self-assured, she’s nerdy as hell (this is a term of endearment for me, I swear) and carries herself in such a confident way that you never see from main characters with chronic illnesses. Chloe Brown is my hero. ⁣

How long do I have available to talk about Redford Morgan? Not long? Shit. Ok, here goes.. REDFORD MORGAN IS THE HERO TO END ALL HEROES IN ROMANTIC COMEDIES. This guy is sensitive, caring, and he goes to therapy. Like, he realizes he’s got some stuff to work through and he just goes to therapy. Another thing I can never thank Talia Hibbert enough for — normalizing therapy, for men especially.⁣

The respect and support that Chloe and Red have for each other jumps off the page from the very beginning. A secret you think might be the source of the climax conflict gets revealed pretty quickly because they simple do not keep things from each other. They’ve literally ruined every other rom-com couple for me, I think...⁣

We’re almost out of time so, real quick, before you go: THIS BOOK IS SO GODDAMN STEAMY I —⁣

I feel bad giving this book such a low rating, since I enjoyed the disability and chronic pain representation. It was not enough to make this a worthwhile read. First off, we don't get to see how the two main characters met, and why they developed animosity toward each other. It comes out of nowhere that they are suddenly obsessed with each other sexually. The sex scenes are crude and icky. The banter between the two characters is insufferable, just pages of them blabbing about nothing. I am over the "quirky nerd girl" archetype. A very awkward book to read.

I enjoyed reading Get a life, Chloe Brown. I could relate to Chloe because I also have fibromyalgia which went undiagnosed for years. Unlike her, I do not use prescription pain patches. Chloe has trust issues because when you have an invisible disease people believe that you are a Salinger or liar. Red, her flat superintendent realizes that she is sick but he too has trust issues as he was in an abusive relationship. Chloe has a bucket list and Red helps her with it and they fall in love but not without Red's PTSD flaring and interfering in the relationship. This book made me smile and chuckle as I read it, but I could also relate to how Chloe reacted when Red had a PTSD flare. I would recommend this book.

This is the only book I've ever heard of that has a main character with fibromyalgia, and I nearly cried at how wonderful the representation was. Dating, making and keeping friends, and living your life while chronically ill is HARD, and Hibbert absolutely nailed the experiences in this book. The romance was sweet with a good mix of cute and steamy scenes. Chloe's family was delightful, and I adored the relationship she had with her sisters. Highly recommend this one for a fun, light read -- especially to all my fellow chronically ill friends.

📚 Book Review 📚
Thank you @netgalley and @avonbooks for the free eARC in exchange for a review

Yes, I’m so behind on some of my NetGalley ARCs but I finally got around to reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown. Though this one was slow going for me, it was a perfectly fine romance read.

What I Liked: I thoroughly enjoyed Hibbert’s writing style and her sarcastic sense of humor. She definitely had me laughing out loud in several places. I also enjoyed the banter between Chloe and Red as well as Chloe and her sisters. Even though I have no idea what it’s like to suffer from a chronic illness, I thought Hubert did a nice job of illustrating the struggles of living life while constantly dealing with an illness. Lastly, I found it lovely the way Red won Chloe back in the end.

What I Struggled With: I found this one easy to put down, and it felt like, overall, not a lot happened in the story. The other major thing that I didn’t get was that Red and Chloe were generally good about talking to each other, but then the conflict that drove them apart was something that could have easily been cleared up with one conversation.

Though this one wasn’t my favorite, it had its high points. It’s very open door 🔥 🔥 levels, which doesn’t bother me, but you may not enjoy if you typically like lower steam level romances.

So I finished Get a Life Chloe Brown last night and it was STEAMY 🔥🔥. I thought it was going to be a PG- 13 read. It was definitely rated R or MA. Don’t let the cute cartoon fool you, it was full of sex and somehow cuteness. Usually I’m not a fan of steamy book but I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read. I really love chloe’s sassy attitude and how she wants more out of her life especially living with chronic pain. I would recommend this book. This book was a perfect mix of Funny and sexy for me. ⁣

I generally enjoy these types of novels, but I couldn't get into this one at ALL. I ended up skimming 3/4s of it.
