Karla and her husband Jason are having problems with their marriage and his business is going bust. Things get so bad that Jason decides to leave home.
A book full of secret, lies and nasty characters.
Wow, I didnt know what to expect from this and I was blown away. You will not expect what comes to pass in this story!
My 12th book by this amazing author already and she keeps on writing those amazing stories that glue you to the edge of your seat.
Sometimes everyday life asks you to focus on other things than your book and you would rather like to hide somewhere and continue reading. At this moment it's my son studying for an exam and he likes me to test him. Each time he went on a little break, I went back to my book even though it was only for one chapter. I just was too intrigued :)
This story was built around liars and cheaters. Those people often say they did what they did because they wanted to protect someone. Well, I believe this is a bunch of lies too. In the end, when all is revealed you only end up hurting that person even more than you would have if you would have been honest from the beginning.
In the end there was only one person who did not lie nor cheat. They were tremendously suffering, but they, at least, had the decency to be honest. Needless to say they were my favorite.
Some of the characters were readily accusing others, while they should have stepped back a little and looked in the mirror. I did not like what I saw and I am convinced they would not either.
Anyway I totally enjoyed this book, but that's no surprise. Sheryl Browne's books are very, very addictive. 5 stars
Thank you
Married for twelve years, Karla and Jason have two children. Life is mostly good. They have a few problems, but they can work it out. That's what Karla thought, at least, before Jason abruptly announces he is leaving her for another woman. But Karla knows something Jason doesn't... and he had no idea what's about to happen.
First one with this author and I did enjoy the book, but found it a little like a game of tennis one bat's then the other bat's. Also a little too drawn out for me with Jason and Karla she had a go then he had a go got dizzy with it all. Did guess that Karla was Jessie.
I was completely gripped by this story and was impressed with the writing quality. I was entertained throughout the story and would not hesitate to recommend this book.
This book is definitely not one that I would think of when it comes to a good thriller book. I had a hard time staying motivated to keep reading the book. It starts out as your typical husband cheats and leaves his wife for another woman story. I do think that it had good characters and the storyline was easy to follow. This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more from her.
3.5 stars - I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Sheryl Browne! They are always entertaining and quick reads! Sheryl is a master it is writing psychological/domestic thrillers and this one falls in the same category.
However, having said that, this book is my least favourite from Sheryl. I was quite underwhelmed.
This book was repetitious, and monotonous for the first 75% which made me almost DNF this book, but I powered through. Sometimes books can redeem themselves with the ending, but it wasn’t the case with this one. In addition, the character was absolutely unlovable and vile, they were getting on my nerves at some point. Usually, you can empathize or root for at least one of the characters, but I wasn’t in this case.
There are many twists and turns, but I ended up predicting most of them before they occurred. I still recommend reading Sheryl Browne books, maybe just not this one.
I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I don't know what it was but there was just something that didn't click for me with this book. I anticipated the twist and was correct with that, so there was no massive surprise reveal for me. It was written well enough but I guess you don't gel with every book you read. Others will love this, for me it was ok but not memorable.
One word to say about The Marriage Trap by Sheryl Browne - WOW. It was so addictive, definitely a page Turner for me and I was totally hooked on this book. Another great book by Sheryl that kept me guessing until the end.
Couldn't put it down! I found it highly addictive. Great characterization and moves along at a good pace.
The Marriage Trap” revolves around Karla and Jason, whose marriage has fallen apart. Turns out Karla’s father has never liked Jason and has been trying to tear them apart for years. What reasons could he possibly have?!
Wow, Sheryl Browne can always be relied on for a great psychological thriller, but this one is truly exceptional!
Right from the start you are gripped by the prologue. We then move back a few months in the timeline and the story is told from several characters points of view: Karla, her husband Jason, her manipulative father Robert, and her lovely mother Diana.
All the characters are so well drawn and real, but each has a secret, and as the tightly woven plot unfolds, these secrets are revealed.
The pace is fast and flows so well, it’s a total page-turner.
This is one to devour, and you will probably have to pick your jaw up off the floor at the end.
Can’t recommend this one highly enough. So gripping.
Totally unexpected ending with several twists and turns! But this book was not for me I’m afraid. The main characters got on my nerves right from the first few pages!
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
The book starts out pretty much with Jason packing his bags and leaving his family. The story then goes back to the events leading up to it. Then the twists start coming and the ride begins. Lies, secrets, you name it they are involved. At times it was a bit over the top but that didnt stop me from loving this book.
I'd heard good things about this one and couldn't wait to read it! I wasn't disappointed....quick and easy to read.
twisty! What a wild and crazy ride. This was an entertaining fast-paced story that kept me glued to the pages from first page to last. Sometimes the plot was a little frantic, a little over-the-top, a little unbelievable, but I did not care because I was so absorbed into the story
The Marriage Trap by Sheryl Browne
I rate this book 3.5 stars
My husband has been keeping secrets for a long time. He thinks I don’t know what he does outside of this house. But I know everything…
Karla and Jason's solid marriage is left crumbling by her manipulative fathers shock admission, the secrets and lies within the family gradually come out and we find out the lengths people will push themselves to protect and will it save or destroy two marriages in the process.
I enjoyed reading the story from different characters point of view.Just enough to keep me reading to find out what happened in the end and if my guesses were right!
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read and review.
A bit crazy, all over plot. The reason I picked it, was because of the cover. This time the cover was better than the book I must say.
3.5 stars for creativity here.
