Kozart was at the height of his stardom and finding someone who didn’t know him allowed him the chance to finally have someone truly know him. Aubrey met him at the exactly the right time when her world was spiraling out of control and he provided the balance she needed to steady her. Great chemistry between the characters.
Oh yes, I enjoyed the hell out of this!
Rock star/celebrity romance has always been one of my favorite tropes (I mean, which teenage girl doesn't dream of their idol falling in love with them? 😂)
I loved that there wasn't too much angst and drama and that both characters acted like actual grown-ups for the most part!
A great read!
I really liked this book, the characters were easily to like and warm up to. But some places in the book things went on a bit too quickly for my taste, espesially the argument-part. But it was a nice standalone even so, warm, fuzzy and a little hot! :D
Rockstar Kozart has it all, well that’s what it looks like anyway. He has been on the road for 5 years and has never had any semblance of security or family. One evening he meets a semi drunk, and very upset Aubrey in a bar. Aubrey has just discovered her boyfriend having sex with a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding.
The rockstar and the college girl start an unconventional friendship, which turns into more.
This was a sweet young adult romance. Who doesn’t want to tame a bad boy rockstar?
***Thank you to NetGalley and J. Nathan. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own.***
3.5 stars.
Aubrey crosses paths with Kozart at a hotel bar. She’s hiding out, feeling humiliated after walking in on her boyfriend screwing a bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding. Kozart offers to go back to the wedding with her so she can hold her head high. She has no idea that he’s a rockstar, and he likes it that way. He has a hard time trusting people. Their relationship is complicated by Kozart’s fame and the baggage both of them bring to the table.
The premise of this story was totally adorable. I loved that Kozart wanted to help Aubrey. Admittedly, the sleep thing was a bit odd and pushed him into creeper territory for a little while. The story from that point is a little predictable, though not in a bad way necessarily. I liked that Kozart wasn’t really what I’ve come to expect from a rockstar character. What I didn’t like was how he set up Aubrey to test her feelings for him and see whether he could trust her. I didn’t like the lack of honesty and forthrightness. Aubrey was kind of all over the place, in my opinion. I hated her ex Geoffrey. I hated how he kept showing up and assuming Aubrey would take him back. Mind you, I loved that she never once considered it. I appreciated that she didn’t jump right back into Kozart’s arms after their fight either.
The writing here was good. The MCs had good chemistry and there was lots of witty banter and swoons. I wish Nathan had made Kozart’s character a tiny bit more mature. I understood that his past had scarred him and left him with trust issues, but when he finally explained his actions and reasons to Aubrey, he seemed incredibly childish. Overall though, it was definitely a worthwhile read.
This book was right in like with the other ones in the 'series.' I found that I liked this one as much as the first one. The characters were more believable but a little more immature and that's probably because of age. I really love this author though and will always one click for her.
It was cute...I'm not usually a fan of young adult romances, so I think that played a huge part in me only giving this book 3 stars. I felt the characters at times were immature, but they were college age so I think it's probably on par.
** ARC received from Netgalley **
A sweet rock love story between the lead singer Kozart and a college girl Aubrey. When they met Aubrey doesn't know who helped her through a painful night and make it better. Kozart has finally found a connection with a girl who doesn't even know that he is famous so he tries to persuade her into a few dates. The attraction between them is strong and after knowing who he is, Aubrey takes a chance on Kozart and their relationship. But pressure from bandmates and manager is too strong and everything is ruined. Will Kozart see what really is important or will he let Aubrey go... I liked the story it is a little bit different than other rock star love stories. I didn't feel like there is a lot of connection between the bandmates. Kozart was not so jaded and I liked that he cam to his sense in the end. Aubrey was a great character wit lovely personality and fits great with Kozarts.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
4 Stars!!
I really enjoyed this book! I’ve read all of J. Nathan’s other books and this one is right up there with her others. She has a writing talent that sucks you into the story and even when it ends, you still want more, because you aren’t quite ready to let these characters go.
Aubrey has had the worst night of her life. She walks in on her long term boyfriend cheating on her with another bridesmaid at her sisters wedding. Humiliated, angry and hurt she heads to the hotel bar to drink the night away only to run into a mysterious man who ends up being everything she needed to get her out of her stoop and see Her ex-boyfriend for what he really is. A POS. She drinks and laughs and connects with Kozart as he shows her a great time. He finds peace with her that he doesn’t get in his rock star style life and the 2 strike up a fast connection that might just turn into something more! Really great read!
Kozart is an unusual name for an atypical rockstar. This bad boy rockstar meets his match in the unhappily hot yet inebriated bridesmaid. With a meet cute and ensuing hijinks that makes women everywhere cringe but also pump their fists in joy, Kozart and Aubrey will have you hoping for the best, tensing for the worst, and smiling like a loon.
I had a delightful time following this budding romance. I almost felt like I was TMZ while I read it with a sneak peek in the life of Z Savage! All the dirt on the band after this commercial break!😉
Sweet and sassy with a side of hottie hunky, Kozart is a rock god with a decidedly not rock playlist! I'm going to be trying up Google for a while catching up with those...
I wonder if we will get more Savage Beasts!?!
First of all, I have to be honest and say I really don't like the cover of this book. I don't think it conveys just how sweet the story is. How do you actually convey that? I don't know, so don't listen to me - I just felt the need to say it.
I found Kozart to be a fantastic rock star romance. I found it refreshing that there's this rock star, Kozart, that has an honest to goodness problem, insomnia, and has enough insight to realize that maybe he's not cut out to be the stereotypical rock god everyone wants him to be. Aubrey is also a breath of fresh air as someone who is strong willed, understanding, and willing to accept her feelings. This book was so short, but so good - I didn't feel cheated in any sense. There was even a part that made me want to cry real tears (the skateboard. omg, the skateboard), and I definitely felt the pangs of hurt as our characters head toward the path of wanting and trying to be together.
I truly believe that lovers of the rock star trope will love this book - but most importantly, it's a great introduction for anyone wanting to love the romance genre. This is what it is - it makes you hurt a little, but you know you're gonna be okay. How many things or people can actually give you that guarantee?
You know when you pick up a rock star book that it's gonna be, well, rockin' and rollin'. But what makes this one pretty amazing that this isn't the typical girl meets rock star and falls hard. Nope, this is more the opposite. And I fell in love with the heroine even more because of it.
After being completely humiliated and cheated on by her boyfriend of three years at her sisters wedding, Aubrey finds herself at the hotel bar, hiding from everyone. What she didn't expect was a very attractive guy whisking her back to the wedding, with the purpose of making her ex jealous. Turns out he didn't just make her ex jealous though, because apparently he's a huge rock star. And she didn't even know who he was...
Kozart is tired of the same 'ol song and dance. It's been years since he's been in the music business. Years of making an album, touring, groupies, rinse and repeat. Especially since he's feeling like no one really knows who the real "Z" is. So when he leaves his band and groupies behind in the hotel room and finds an attractive girl who just got cheated on, he's surprised that she not only doesn't recognize him, but has the sass to go with her beauty. And why is he drawn to taking care of her all of a sudden?
The timing of this book couldn't have been more perfect. It was NOT a fall in love at first sight. This book made sure that the relationship was set up and established way before anything "sexual" even happened. The text messaging, the surprises...all of the little details played a role in building up to the "moment" that was perfect. As much as I fell for Kozart and his yearning for something more, Aubrey's "take no less than what you're worth" attitude was more absolute favorite. You go girl!!!
The side characters even got my attention. In fact, I'm really hoping that this becomes a series or at least has a spin off because between Aubrey's friends and Kozarts band mates and personnel, I'm itching for more.
This was honestly a perfect read for those who love a good Rock n Roll story with your HEA.
I didn't like it as much as I first thought, but it was a pleasure to read it. The story for me is quite slow
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a cute read! I liked seeing the relationship between Kozart and Audrey and loved that they could joke around with each other and have fun. I love how Kozart was sweet, gentle, patient, protective and supportive of Audrey and how he fought, for his love. I also thought it was so great and brave how even after a messed up childhood, Kozart became a success in his career, as a musician. I also liked Audrey and the fact that she was the kind of girl who could stand up for herself and didn't need anyone to protect her. All in all, this was a cute, fun, enjoyable and easy read, perfect for summer!
This was so good! Rockstar falls in love with an every day girl. The hero and heroine were both very well written. U loved the angst and the backstory. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
I've read a lot of rockstar romances, they are one of my favorite genres to read. Because of that I have gotten pretty picky on what I want out of them. Your basic storyline has been overdone so finding a book with a fresh, and interesting story is always a challenge. I was really impressed by J Nathan. This was my first book by this author, but it won't be my last.
Aubrey was such an amazing character. The way she handled herself throughout the book made it so much more enjoyable. She wasn't over the top, didn't overreact to everything, and was just a refreshing character all around. She brought a lot to this storyline and kept it from falling into the , been there, read that, category.
Kozart wasn't my favorite rockstar, but I really liked how honest and straightforward he was. He knew who he was and what he could offer. He didn't hold back, I liked that I always knew what he was thinking and what motivated him.
This was a fast, easy read that kept me entertained from start to finish.
It was a refreshing new concept of a rock star! the book itself kept me hooked until the very end! I read it in one sitting.
I loved this! Kozart was my first rockstar romance and it definitely stole the show for any others. I loved Kozart and Aubrey’s relationship. It really shows how being with someone famous can control everything, big and small. I can’t wait to check out the authors other works!
J. Nathan is one of my favorite authors and I loved this book just like the others. I'm a fan of both rock and country so this was a fun book to read. Aubrey and Kozart were adorable together and I loved their humor and chemistry. Great book.
Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A very enjoyable read! I've already re-read it and purchased several additional books by the author. If you're looking for a romance with emotional depth that has parts of both the rock star trope as well as the college experience trope, look no further!
