This is an absolutely phenomenal, affordable coloring book about earth science that I plan to purchase for our homeschool as soon as it's available later this month.
This black and white Dover coloring book goes into lots of detail about things like volcanoes, glaciers, caves, earthquakes, etc. with detailed line drawings. The drawings are exceptional and educational, and kids will learn a ton about things like how natural events over millions of years created everything from Devil's Tower to the shapes of the continents. It also mentions all different national parks that correspond to geologic features mentioned on most pages, which would make it a great accompaniment to summer vacations or US geography studies.
Very highly recommended. With a retail price of $5.99 it would make a fantastic addition to any earth science library.
My rating system:
1 = hated it
2 = it was okay
3 = liked it
4 = really liked it
5 = love it, plan to purchase, and/or would buy it again if it was lost
I read a temporary digital ARC of the book for the purpose of review.
I was given a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love this book, and I would give it ten stars if I could. It is literally just a child's version of the kinds of things I studied in Historical and Physical Geology in college. The information is well researched, clear, and concise, and not too complicated, I wouldn't think, for the targeted age group. It's also designed and printed in such a way that you can color every page yourself. It's just so awesome. My four year-old loved having it read to him, but it would be perfect for older kids too or for teachers to use for print-out activities.
I plan to purchase an official copy as soon as it is released. The suggested price point is a great deal.
My First Book About Our Amazing Earth does a phenomenal job at examining the facts regarding the core of the planet. What’s even better is that it’s a coloring book, so it will not bore children. I love this, and I hope that a lot of elementary school libraries and classrooms will adopt this book for educational purposes. Thank you NetGalley and Dover Publications for this eARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
An interesting but complicated look at the inner core of our planet. This coloring book is geared for kids around 4th grade. Would classify as educational when assigned by a teacher. Nevertheless, unless well advertised, doubt many kids or parents will purchase this book unless they already express an interest in the topic.
I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for my volunteer review.
This is a fantastic learning tool to teach children (and curious adults) all about the earths science. It’s a hands on learning experience with scientific information on each page.
I love this idea! I think children would be more perceptive to learning with a book like this. I always enjoyed the coloring pages in school, and to this day still remember some of them and the information on them.
