Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced reader's copy in return for my honest review. My first book by Anne Lovett but it won't be my last. Brilliant book, engaging story and likeable characters that I genuinely cared about.
This was an unputdownable, smart, thoughtful novel. I loved the twists and turns.
Many thanks to IBPA and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
The cover initially drew my attention to this book, plus that historical fiction is one of my favourite genres. Really enjoyed this story, despite that it took me a several pages before it gripped me. This was a well written book and one that i can recommend. I rarely write what a story is about as i prefer one to read the book for themselves, but i do recommend.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy.

Weird racial stereotypes and romance that is so entirely unbelievable, I just couldn’t get into the story. However, the writing style is very well done and made up for what I didn’t like.
This cover drew my attention but the writing kept it. I really enjoyed the story. It was my first book by Anne Lovett but it won’t be the last!
I really enjoyed this book. The characters and settings were great. Thank you Anne Lovett for this wonderful read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
I loved this book, the characters, the twists and turns. I will be looking out for the author's other works.
I have added this book on my Books To Buy list.
Thank you to Netgalley, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and Anne Lovett for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I thought that I would really enjoy this book seeing that it had a country vibe/feel to it which I enjoy reading as well as writing myself since I'm an author, but I felt this book was lacking in appeal. I think that I will give it a break and return to it at a later time to see if my views on it changes. It just didn't catch my interest straight off bat with the first few chapters as I had hoped that it would.
