An easy to read thriller that shocks and surprises as you go through. I didn't want to put it down, brilliant!
Oh my goodness, I tore right through this book. I did not want to put it down. The twists and turns had me guessing the entire way through and continued its momentum from the very first page until the last. I now want to read EVERYTHING Sarah Alderson has to offer.
Thank you Netgalley for this amazing book!!!
This was archived before I was able to download it. Unfortunately, I have to give feedback due to Netgalley adding this into my algorithm. I was very much looking forward to this read, so will be picking it up soon.
This is an absolute roller coaster of a book with so many red herrings. It all started quite calmly, but then off it went, twisting, turning, secrets and lies. A brilliant read.
Wow wow wow...... this book kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page I loved it I just couldn't put it down it was full of twists and turns this is a must read
Ava and successful husband Robert live in their mansion with her 12 year old daughter June, stepson Gene lives in an apartment over the garage. Their eldest daughter Hannah is studying in New York.
When armed men break into their house, leaving Ava and Robert injured and June fighting for her life,
Ava will stop at nothing to find out who and why her family were attacked so violently.
This is not just a book about a robbery gone wrong. This book has a lot of twists and turns that keep you engaged throughout the whole book. It kept me guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book for an honest review.
Started off with an exciting incident and had many twists and turns from there. I really don't like armchair detecting, but this is a well-written tale. A couple of things I didn't see coming, which I love in a good suspense novel.
Very fast-paced, I finished it in less than a day. Great psychological thriller
I'll be thinking about this one for a very long time. Could not put it down at all. Household chores certainly did not get done during the duration of this book :)
I enjoyed this book, but I did find it too over-written. Too many twists and turns for my liking although well-written. However, It did keep me guessing till the end though. So four stars.
I really enjoyed this book, could not put it down once I had started it. So many shocking twists and turns that I had not seen coming. Definitely worth a read!
This book's blurb described this story as a psychological thriller and that it is. A home invasion leaves Ava and her husband, Robert, injured and her youngest daughter in a coma. The reader follows Ava as she starts to unravel all the secrets that everyone around her seem to be keeping. The secret keeping does not exclude Ava however, and the reader is unsure of trusting any character throughout the book. Even the narrator, Ava.
There are some nail-biting suspense scenes in this book that leave you hanging on to read more. I enjoyed those scenes pushing the story along. This story does truly have you guessing at each character's motives and unsure most of the way through it. You think you have zeroed in on a big revelation in the plot, but you are still looking in your peripheral at other characters because of smaller clues dropped more subtly. Did this book completely astonish and surprise me with all of the twists and turns? No, but if you like suspense thrillers that don't have weird or abrupt surprises coming out of left field, here's a story for you. Everything seemed to fit logically into place and make sense once the story is done.
Overall, I gave this 3 out of 5 stars. I felt for the main character, Ava, and all the horrible things she had to deal with simultaneously. This story didn't have me completely on the edge of my seat or have me in the dark on suspects until the full reveal of everything. However, if you want a normal psychological suspense thriller that has good characters and some subtle clue dropping that lets you make educated guesses as you go, this is a story for you. I also liked the last few paragraphs of the ending, by the way. It added that much more to what you already thought you knew. Good psychological thriller. Enjoyed it.
Thanks to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book.
A fantastic edge of your seat thriller. So, many excellent twists and turns right up until the final page. 4.5*
The book started strong right out of the gate. The rest of the book was a fast paced rollercoaster. A page turner I’d definitely recommend.
Incredibly dramatic yes....twists and turns yes.....I didn’t know where it was going....far fetched unbelievable and slightly (ok very) silly....yes.....but a gripping read that will have your heart rate pumping but also want to finish the book as by the time I realised it was too extremely silly it was too late and I was too far in!!!!
Reading a book about a home invasion is not the best thing to do when you are home alone. Though the story quickly develops, and it becomes clear it was not a random action. Which made it possible for me to actually sleep a bit during the reading.
It is easy to feel for Ava. It looks as if the whole world is fighting her and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
I did guess a lot of what was going on before things got revealed but there was enough tension in the story to keep me hooked and waiting for the revelations.
After home invasion that leaves her daughter critically injured, Ava's life unravels. Lies and revelations will have you turning pages and you won't want to stop.
Wow! This book was great. I loved the twists and turns as the story went along, some where a surprise and some I definitely didn't expect. I loved the writing, and the character development. I was gripped from the get go and could not put this down.
OMG this book had me so chilled to the bone!! It was such a great thriller and I could NOT put it down. Ava has a perfect life, or so she thinks, until the unspeakable happens. After a violent home invasion, which leaves her daughter fighting for her life, she must come to terms that all is not well. Someone is clearly after her family, but why? Suddenly, everything in her life seems like a lie.
I cannot express how good this book was...I was so sad when it was over. If you like crazy psychological thrillers, you do NOT want to miss this one!
5 out of 5 stars for In Her Eyes by Sarah Alderson.
Your home is invaded by burglars wearing masks. They beat up your husband and threaten you and your youngest daughter. This is what happened to Ava’s family . Ava’s daughter is taken upstairs by one of the men Ava follows and what happens next is June is shot.June ends up on a life support machine. They police try to find the culprits in doing so they uncover that Robert has pawned jewellery and upped the insurance policy. Robert is arrested has he really set all this up. His son Gene who lives with them is acting shifty has he anything to do with it. Hannah their eldest daughter has come home from New York to be with her sister. This book has lots of twists and turns really enjoyed this book.
Thanks NetGalley
I was not interested in finding out what happened and/or who was responsible. I didn't like any of the characters. I really liked the author's previous book: "Friends like these". I didn't like this one. I do look forward to her future books.
