What can I say, the author’s CrossFire novels were some of my favorites 7 years ago. I devoured book 1-3 and thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. That’s now many years ago, but I was still extremely interested and excited to get my hands on her latest release, even if it’s only a novella.

But with 199 pages, it’s a good length novella. Great for in between heavier books, for a sunny afternoon, a few hours of easy reading.

One thing is for sure the author knows how to write sexy and sensual imagery that are incredibly hot. That’s something that hasn’t changed since Eva and Gideon. The sexiness wasn’t OTT either, it was well placed and kept to a minimum for the amount of pages. But there was enough teasing and sexual tension to turn this novella into a sexy read.

The way the novella was structured would have done well in a full length novel, the twist alone was a great one, and could have done even better in a more fleshed out, and suspenseful storyline.

What bothered me a little is that the heroine is half asian but we only find out about it at the 75% mark and it was only mentioned two times within two sentences in the same paragraph. That felt a bit lackluster and more like an afterthought or just something to add, since diversity is such a hot topic lately, it didn’t fee genuine at all.

I must admit I wasn’t impressed by this novella, but it wasn’t a bad one either. All in all it’s a perfectly quick and easy read that will agree with most SD fans.

One moment her life is going just how it should be, then Garrett Frost comes crashing into her world and up heaves it. He made his interest known immediately, and Teagan made it known then that she wasn't interested. She also mentioned she didn't want a man in her life, nor did she want a relationship or love, but Garrett just wasn't getting the message. He just kept coming back for more... and as much as she tried to stand her ground, and resist him, the more the ground gave away beneath her feet.

Butterfly in Frost is an intense and passionate little tale that will have you mesmerized from first glance, it's words were like an addiction I couldn't shake. It was evident from first meeting that what these two shared was special and undeniable, but that didn't stop Teagan from trying to resist it, she had sky high walls that she thought no one would be able to demolish. Her resistance was admirable, but I don't think she was any match for Garrett. The man knew exactly what he wanted, knew what she needed, and he was determined to have it, not matter how long the wait. I loved the push and pull between them, it brought a palpable intensity to the pages, and of course lots of scorching heat. Hot! Hot! Hot!

I am a little ashamed to admit that this is my first read from this author, I know, I am a little late to the party. But now that that little 'mistake' has been remedied, I can say I am a fan... one that has a lot of catching up to do, I cannot wait to acquaint myself with Gideon and Eva! I highly recommend you get your hands on this book, it's pages hold a story that is certain to leave you deeply moved!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via a NetGalley request, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

Beautiful story full of heartbreak and passion. It definitely hit me with the emotions and I fell hard for these characters. It has been so long since I read a story by Sylvia Day and I was gripping to read this. I am so glad that I really enjoyed it. The twist definitely surprised me and I am so left wanting more. I can't wait to see what Sylvia comes up with next.

Suspenseful. Gripping. Must Read. Psychological. Intense. Haunting. I just finished reading and I still feel a prickly sensation on the back of my neck. This is Butterfly in Frost by Sylvia Day.
The most anticipated read of the year is finally here and it’s everything I wanted and more than I expected. Day gifted us two stories in one by providing closure for one and introducing a whirlwind romance for new characters from Seattle, Washington – Garrett Frost and Teagan Ransom.
Dr. Teagan Ramson, a reality-TV cosmetic surgeon, returns home to Seattle from Manhattan. She works for Eva Cross - yes that Eva. Together they are introducing a new skin care line in the Crossfire Empire. Eva Trammell Cross graces the pages but even she can’t steal this show - it’s all Teagan and Garrett.
“I’m going to become necessary to you”
Garrett Frost, a rock star painter and artist, is her sexy new neighbor. He is a rock and a light with a soft soul. Easily lovable. He is a haven and antidote for Teagan’s pain. He knows how to support her in her moments of despair. We all need a person who will encourage us, criticize us, and hold us accountable if we want to grow, that is. Garrett is that person for Teagan.
“I need you more than I need anything else. I’d even give up painting for you, if that’s what it takes”
In Japan, white butterflies symbolize the souls of departed loved ones. Fans of Day will feel the genuine warmth and crush of loss throughout the story. This is one of the rarest of book treats for a small package, i.e. a novella under 200 pages. Plus, it makes you excited to check in with old friends in the Crossfire World.

This is the book you will be thinking about days later wondering how all of it happen in 200 pages and leave such a profound feeling of WOW, JUST WOW. The story and its ending are astonishing. It’s so simple yet so complex. The romance is beautiful, sexy and slow burn steamy. But its ending is the Crème de la Crème. When you read it, you will be in a state of disbelief.
Butterfly in Frost is a message of hope, truth and encouragement. Teagan and Garret are each haunted with grief and it makes their instant connection so strong and powerful. In closing, you will find amazing characters, brilliant storytelling and a spectacular ending.
Mile High Kink Book Club highly recommends Butterfly in Frost for your carryon.

5 Starting Over Stars!!!

Imagine my joy and shock when this beauty showed up on my kindle!!! I’m a lover of Ms. Day and have read and/or listend to The Crossfire Series multiple times. I’m not going to lie and say I wasn’t skeptical of this book and if it could capture me like Gideon and Eva did…well, I can happily report that not only did it capture my heart, it grabbed ALL my emotions!!

This book is a story of redemption, starting over and finding yourself after a loss that is one that no one should experience. Yes, I’m being purposely vague because I refuse to spoil this read for you.

I will tell you that this story is a wild ride of love, agony, pain, redemption and finding love when you thought it wasn’t possible. The minute I picked up this book I was completely and totally invested in Teagan and Garrett’s story. It’s not your run of the mill second chance story either. Ms. Day has woven a tale that literally had me gasping out loud at times!!!

If you’re a fan of Ms. Day and her ability to tell an intriguing, emotional and evocative story, then this book is a MUST READ for you!!

3.5 STARS

“I’m tired of hurting,” he says softly. “You remind me that my body can feel things other than pain.”

What a white-hot and lovely novella! With a spectacular twist that had me gasping! Of course I will read anything that Sylvia Day writes so I was thrilled to get an early copy of 'Butterfly in Frost'. The story is set in the world of Crossfire but can be read as a complete standalone. Teagan is a physician who works with Eva Cross (!) on the launch of her new skincare line. Something has happened to Teagan to make her incredibly fragile, but we do not find out what that is until the end of the story.

Garrett is a sexy artist who moves in next door, who is also carrying some painful emotional baggage. Their mutual friends encourage their undeniable mutual attraction, but both Garrett and Teagan seem fearful of a relationship.

Their chemistry together is smoking hot and the writing is of course superb. (And for fans of the Crossfire series, there is even mention of the resolution of the Cary-Tatiana relationship!) I would have loved a longer, more detailed story, which would have been perfect for fans of Ms. Day's writing. However, I absolutely recommend this steamy and sensitive story for a quick, enjoyable read!

“You’re my heart. Whatever twists and turns life takes, everything begins and ends with you both.”

Two people trying to recover from a traumatic experience. Their attraction is primal, intense. Is recovery possible?

I cannot say much about the plot itself because I do not want to spoil it for you. This book tore my heart as it told about depression and the road to recovery after an unthinkable loss.

Yet, let me leave you with my final emotions. Love never dies, it just evolves and seeks its place in life. It just takes two to make it work.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Butterfly in Frost by Sylvia Day is a new contemporary romance novella that is emotionally charged, explicitly hot and sexy and has a twist that threw me for a loop!

I am writing a mini review because the book summary sets the novella up well and if I give too much more information, I risk revealing something that may give away the surprise twist. When I am looking for an erotic romance, Sylvia Day is one of my “go to” writers and I am so glad I read this book.

Garrett Frost is a famous artist who is gorgeous, sexy and wounded. When he moves in next door to Teagan, he could be just what she needs to move forward with her life or he could destroy her fragile new life and peace.

These two come together in an emotionally charged dance; one step forward, two steps back, take each day one at a time, do not discuss the past. Usually I want a longer book to get more in-depth emotions from the characters, but this novella gave an emotional punch in a short number of pages. The sex scenes are explicit and smokin’ hot. Crank the air-conditioner! At first, I felt you needed to read previous books to know what was going on, but I was wrong. When you hit the twist, it brings a whole new light to the story and it stands on its own.

I loved this story!

As you begin to read it is clear Teagan is suffering but not really moving forward in her loss. She is existing by trying to focus on her work and keep a routine without letting too many people get to close. My heart hurt for her. I wanted to help pull her from her pain.

Garrett takes the neighborhood in a whirl wind. Buying the home next to Teagan. Making friends with the other neighbors. On the outside he looks well put together, on the inside he is not necessarily quite there, but willing to do anything he can to make a fresh start.

The more time these wounded people spend together the more they both start to live again. Day by day in a thing of beauty. More smiles and laughs, love they had once lost. It is refreshing to see it unveil.

This book is full of emotions and will have you cheering on this couple. Ms. Day manages to sneak a few twists in the story that will keep you on your toes. A great read.

After overcoming a turbulent time in her life, Dr Teagan Ransom is content in her surroundings; a waterfront home she adores in a picturesque area of Seattle. With a job she loves, she couldn't be happier. That's until her next-door neighbours unexpectedly sell up after an offer they couldn't refuse and the new owner makes his presence known…

Garrett Frost is a man on a mission and what he wants he gets...

First a confession...this is my first Sylvia Day novel!

Second confession...I had to read this book twice before writing this review because the twist at the end had me screaming expletives in a 'what the hell' way.

Most of the frustration I had with this novel is due to how the protagonists, specifically, Teagan act and behave around each other. It definitely makes you scratch your head and think about what is going on in their heads. I also didn't connect with either of them in the same way as Garrett and Teagan didn't 'click' as a couple despite what we find out about them and the steamy scenes they share.

The best part of the narrative is the twist because it definitely triggers a reaction and makes you think about what you've read to that point. In some way, it answers a couple the questions I was pondering along the way. It explains Garrett's full-on, 'I won't take no for an answer' possessive attitude towards Teagan and the speed at which they became a couple. However, it's Teagan's behaviour throughout which still remains a mystery.

I didn't have any expectations before I read Butterfly in Frost, therefore, I'm neither super elated or disappointed with this novel. Fans of Ms Day will appreciate the mentions of Gideon and Eva Cross within the narrative.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! Sylvia Day's next book post-Crossfire series is finally here. And while I can't say that I loved it, I am SO happy she has a book out and that this means we have even more to come from this author.

Butterfly in Frost is a good-sized novella, not a full length book. It's a quick, fast-paced, emotional read with the CRAZIEST twist at the end that I truly didn't see coming. Teagan is a doctor living in Washington who works with pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. She works with Eva Cross(!) and keeps a quiet, steady life since moving away from Manhattan. Then her new neighbor moves in next door and Garrett Frost is all man, all gorgeousness, and all determined to win her heart.

I liked Garrett and Teagan's story, but it was way too short and quick of a read. We only get to touch the surface of these characters and their issues, especially Teagan and her depression. Things progress insanely fast, romance-, sex-, and relationship-wise. I really wish we got something full-length for them because I know I would've loved it a lot more. The plot twist at the end though was FANTASTIC. I actually loved the twist and the way it changed how I looked at the entire story. Most of the problems I had with this book was explained with this twist, though it still wasn't enough to make me fully love the book.

Sylvia Day can write, there's no doubt about it. I'm still very much eagerly awaiting her Blacklist duet and praying it'll be released soon. In the meantime, if you've missed Sylvia Day, I still encourage you to try this novella out.

It has been a while since I picked up a Sylvia Day book, so I was very excited to read Butterfly in Frost. This story was a quick read that was emotional and about hope and second chances. Teagan is happy. She loves where she is now and the friends she has made. Then a new neighbor, Garrett Frost, moves in and is suddenly pushing into her life. Both are a bit lost and broken, but can they find what they need with each other? This was a steamy, emotional and touching read.

It has been soooo long since my last Sylvia Day read and I was rather eager to get into this one. And I hate to admit it, but it just wasn't a hit with me. When it comes to such a story of Teagan and Garrett, it needed to be more than a novella to completely flesh out their story.

It just needed a whole lot more to their story and it would have truly made for such an emotional and gripping read. For most of the novella, it isn't until the very end that we learn everything. And that twist was something that I didn't see coming, it really got me. At that point was when it really picked up for me.

Things happened a bit too quickly for my liking and sometimes almost out of nowhere. I understand that it was a novella and there was a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time. But the fact that it indeed was so short, made this a bit of miss.

BUTTERFLY IN FROST by Sylvia Day is the story of Teagan Ranson and Garrett Frost.
Although this book is a spin off of sorts to Crossfire Saga this is totally a standalone book. Teagan has returned home after being gone for a few weeks to find that the house next door has been sold to Garrett. Someone Teagan is immediately attracted to but she has sworn off men and she sees that he has been damaged inside, which for her makes him more off limits. Garrett though is also attracted to Teagan and he wants to follow through with this attraction between them.
This is a steamy read that for me I couldn't put down. Loved it!!

This was such a joyful surprise, Having been a fan of Sylvia Day since I first discovered her over 5 years ago with Gideon. I was absolutely over the moon to get an ARC.

Butterfly is Frost is an insta sexy and captivating read that threw me for a loop. It's heart racing, surprising and at time stunningly heartbreaking. I want more.

New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day returns with BUTTERFLY IN FROST, an emotional and passionate new novella. Day imparts the story of Dr. Teagan Ransom and artist Garrett Frost—two people haunted by their past, who find hope and love with each other. I loved the book and was so moved by Teagan and Garrett’s journey. It’s a standalone story that’s both unexpectedly emotional and sizzling in every way that counts. I was able to talk to Sylvia about BUTTERFLY IN FROST, and I’m thrilled and honored to share the video interview.

Post will be live 8/27

I am a big fan of Sylvia's novels so when I saw that she was writing a new book I got super excited! While I personally prefer the Crossfire series (Gideon is the ultimate book boyfriend) I thought this one was really good. It's tender, irresistible, and heartbreaking. Sylvia knows how to write characters with flaws and the brings them to life as realistic people. This is no different with these characters. I am thrilled to share that Sylvia Day has once again brought readers a gorgeous love story about a tortured hero (she writes them so well) and the woman who makes him feel more human.

This one is a very hard story to rate or review. The writing is superb. It is in the application of the story, itself that it falls short. Situations throughout the book are either unbelievable or make no sense with little to no explanation. This leaves the reader searching for "what the heck is going on?" continuously. And, makes the scenes feel choppy and unfinished.

Then, a HUGE twist hits at the end that is both super creative and completely unexpected. But, while it answers some of the initial problems, it opens up a Pandora's box of more questions that never get answered! So, after turning the last page, readers are left frustrated and scratching their heads. Gosh, it would have been awesome if we could have had at least some depth of understanding in any of a multitude of areas. I understand the goal but one must be able to enjoy the journey, as well.

BUTTERFLY IN FROST – Sylvia Day
Montlake Romance
ISBN: 9781542016735

Contemporary Romance Novella

Seattle, Washington – Present Day

Dr. Teagan Ransom returns to Seattle after a trip to New York City to learn that a mysterious—and very sexy—man has moved next door to her. After running into him—literally—she learns that his name is Garrett Frost. He is brusque with her at first, yet there is a tingling of sexual awareness between them. Her best friend, Roxy, hints that Garrett has experienced the recent loss of a child and Teagan is sympathetic to his loss. They keep running into each other, and each time there is heightened arousal humming between them. Soon, they can’t resist the pull of the attraction and end up having sex. Once isn’t enough and their sensual connection grows deeper. But is there a chance there can be more between them than just a fling?

BUTTERFLY IN FROST is a loose spinoff from Sylvia Day’s hugely popular Crossfire series as Teagan was a minor character in that series. Teagan has her own underlying sense of grief that isn’t readily apparent to readers. That is why she understands what Garrett is going through; he lost his son in a freak accident. Garrett is big, sexy, and attractive. He oozes sex appeal that is apparent to readers. There are plenty of sex scenes for readers looking for some hot reading, but it’s only part of the story because the emotions between Garrett and Teagan run deep. It isn’t until near the end of BUTTERFLY IN FROST that readers understand why. I must admit that even I wasn’t expecting the shocking twist pulled off by Ms. Day.

The characters of Teagan and Garrett will enchant you and pull you into the story. Their emotional connection is real and makes BUTTERFLY IN FROST an intriguing page-turner. If you’re a fan of the Crossfire novels, then you get a bit of a fix, as Eva Cross appears briefly. Readers might be shocked by the plot twist in BUTTERFLY IN FROST, but in the end, they’ll be happy for the outcome. Be sure and grab a copy of this enchanting tale.
