Dugoni writes the best mysteries and he does it again in A Cold Trail -
I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review -
A dying town and yet stores are being sold and renovated
A woman who never fit in
Two murders bring Detective Tracy home to investigate. As Tracy gets closer to the truth someone is determined to stop her - Can she find the killer before the killer gets to her?
"A Cold Trail" is the seventh in Robert Dugoni's series starring Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite, but the first I have read. Despite that, I found it easy to jump into the middle and catch up with the characters, and knew I was in for a good read from this author.
Tracy and her attorney husband Dan have returned to the home Dan inherited from his parents in Cedar Grove. Tracy, on leave with a new baby daughter, grew up there, but life was never the same after her beloved younger sister was murdered.
When another young woman is killed, Tracy becomes obsessed with solving the case, and digs in, despite Dan's disapproval and the challenges of balancing work and its dangers with a newborn. Dugoni always delivers a strong mystery and does it again with "A Cold Trail".
Wow had me hooked from the start! Full of tension and fear it had me hanging on to every word madly turning pages desperate to know what was going to happen next. I love a book where I don’t guess who the bad guy is, and I didn’t in this case so it was a real wow moment at the end. And that ending! .... utterly spectacular! Very much enjoyed this book and don’t hesitate in giving it five stars
In “A Cold Trail” we once again see Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite doing what she does best – solve crimes. When Tracy and Dan head back to Cedar Grove with their daughter, memories come flooding back as well. But as Dan takes on a local case and Tracy is asked to help with one as well, secrets of the small town begin to get unveiled. But as the two cases start to intertwine things start to get dangerous for all those involved. How far will Tracy go this time when she has more to lose than ever before?
Not to be forgotten is Faz (and his wife) as he comes to Tracy’s side to help with his wit and one- liners and as usual we are given the chance to fall more in love with Dan (Tracy’s husband) and the epilogue proves that we are not the only ones.
I received a copy of this book through Net Galley and this is my honest review.
I love this series. I came across the Tracy Crosswhite series a few years ago on kindle unlimited & its one of the few on the service that i recommend to others. Ive even branched out to the authors other work, even the legal thrillers that really aren't my usual style because i enjoy his writing style & character development. So excited to get a copy of this new book!
And it didnt disappoint! The book was hard to put down once i started. I easily fell back into step with the characters.
Overall, im not a fan of books where the female main character is balancing motherhood & her career, which Tracy is in this book, but i still really enjoyed thestory & am already looking forward to the next!
Another great installment in this series. Split between Dan and Tracey, lots of intrigue and mystery. I love these stories and am always sad that they end too fast!
I am a big fan of Robert Dugoni and the Tracy Crosswhite series. A Cold Trail is the 7th book in the series and hits all the marks for a good mystery. The story is packed with suspense and twists and turns that keep a reader on their toes. I enjoy the small-town feel of this book's setting and getting to see Tracy and Dan continue to navigate their relationship.
A Cold Trail is a solid hit and a book not to miss.
I have always liked the Tracy Crosswhite series and this one is a wonderful addition.
A new mom, Tracy is back for a while in her hometown of Cedar Grove and on maternity leave. While the town stirs up memories, both good and bad, she herself is dealing with the joys and trials of motherhood and internally battling what every woman battles.....can she still be a good mother and be the person she is?
Several deaths, one a cold case, thrusts her into the spotlight when the police chief asked her to look into them and see what she can find. At the same time her husband, Dan, is involved in a case having to do with the town's revitalization and as she digs deeper she discovers there may be a connection between the two.
I especially liked the feelings and emotions a young mother goes through when faced with the possibility of being a stay-at-home mom, or returning to your career. Plus the added suspense as Tracy pursues this case will keep you guessing right until the very end.
Enjoy!
Tracy Crosswhite only wants a chance at a normal life with her husband and new daughter, but the chances of that happy in Cedar Grove are slim to none. With Dan busy with a new client, Tracy begins investigating the death of a local cops wife and a reporter looking into a cold case murder. Tracy never expect her case to overlap them one her husband is currently working on. This series just keeps getting better, Tracy is a believable heroine that readers will relate to
I’ve been a huge fan of this series from the very beginning. The newest installment exceeded my expectations. This might very well be the only series I have ever read that gets better with every book. Excellent read!
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview A Cold Trail by Robert Dugoni. This is the 7th book in the Tracy Crosswhite series. If you are a fan, this book will not disappoint.
Tracy is still struggling with her personal demons including the death of her sister. She and her husband need time to heal.
Dan is representing a local merchant, and Tracy is asked to help on a case. Soon the two begin to merge into a mystery that brings Tracy's family into the mix - murder and more murder.
Fans will like this book.
Another solid entry in a great series. Tracy Crosswhite is a special character, and anyone who thinks she’ll get a vacation by going “home” is crazy—just as the bad guys are crazy to think they’ll ever get away with anything when she’s in town. Threads from the past (murders, paternity) are woven together with threads from the present (conspiracy, murder) the create an intricate tapestry that includes contributions from partner, Faz, and husband, Dan, in a welcome seventh installment.
Another hit in this always anticipated series. A fun book filled with mystery and suspense. This is a book which I would recommend to all.
A gripping mystery that hooks you from page one and never let's go. Tracy and Dan have separate cases and are struggling to juggle jobs and new parenthood. It's a real world problem that rings true on the pages, bringing another layer to their relationship we haven't seen yet. These cases are full of surprises that have the reader guessing right up to the reveal. I always anticipate a new book in this series and I am never disappointed. This one lives up to the suspense readers have come to expect from the author. I can't recommend this book enough, it's a must read!
