The Truth About Cowboys is one fine read with characters readers will fall in love with. Divorce lawyer, Jessica flees to Sweetwater, TX after her engagement and her job implode. She has rented a little cottage from Martha, who neglected to tell her the cottage was actually owned by her grandson, former Yankee’s pitcher, Jason Jenks. These two are like oil and water...or maybe more like oil and vinegar...which when shaken blend together quite nicely. While the dialogue and situations are cute, clever, sassy, and sexy, the story has a lot of depth. Jessica and Jason have issues with trust and self-esteem which only makes their sparring more fun to read about. Add in the very strong character of Martha, a 70 year old opinionated super talented baker with a knack for pulling strings and readers are in for a real treat. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good book. Quick and easy to read with likable characters and an entertaining story. Some twists, plenty of drama and explosive chemistry. Loved the back and forth banter between Jason and Jessica. He was definitely an a..h at times. I read an advance copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review. If you like sexy, alpha cowboys, you'll enjoy this book.
This is my first book by Lisa Renee Jones, although I recognize her name, but it won't be the last. It had everything you could possibly want from a cowboy romance: a grumpy but super sexy cowboy; a sassy heroine; small town charm; cookies; cowboy boots; romance and sass.
I got all the feels from this sexy cowboy/city girl romance. Great writing, wonderful characters, enemies to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers. Both Jason and Jessica have been burned badly in the past, and yes, you’ve guessed it, they’re not looking for love, but they’ve got a huge attraction towards each other, and the chemistry is so strong, this thing between them is impossible to ignore, no matter how much they dislike each other. Cowboy Jason, is sexy, alpha, and a former pro baseball player running the family ranch. Jessica is a former divorce attorney turned author, with an adorable and extremely funny penchant for being clumsy, all she wants is a quiet place to escape to. The thing is, grandma (Martha) is hell bent on getting these two together. Then there’s also the secrets. Martha is keeping secrets from Jason, Jason is keeping secrets from Martha, Jessica is keeping their secrets from each other. Neither one wanting to upset or worry the other. All Martha wants is for Jason to be happy, play baseball and settle down with the right woman, she’s one hell of a matchmaker. A full five stars from me, I so hope we get more from Sweetwater, Texas and these wonderfully sweet characters. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
When divorce lawyer, Jessica, discovered her long term boyfriend in their bed with his secretary, she knew she needed a change. Her Dallas law firm agreed after she called one of her wealthy clients out for cheating. So Jessica decides to rent a cabin in the boonies to start over and write a book on divorce. Unfortunately the cabin she rents is already occupied by a sexy but very angry cowboy, Jason. His grandma rented it to her and didn't tell him. Jason is a hard working rancher with a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. He is also on the high functioning autism spectrum and has some trouble communicating. I loved that aspect of the book and how he and Jessica learn to talk to each other. Recommended.
I wouldn't have been as patient with Jason. Jessica gave him way to many chances. She got it right, he acted like an asshole. I'm afraid that the author made me hate Jason a little to much for too long. He should have redeemed himself earlier in the book.
Dallas hot-shot divorce lawyer finds her fiance in bed with his secretary (such a cliche) and torpedoes her career by insulting the firm's biggest client then runs away to write a book about divorce in small-town Texas. Unfortunately, the cottage she has rented from a sweet little old lady turns out to be owned by the little old lady's very sexy grandson and former baseball pitcher.
Granny is match-making but her grandson is having nothing to do with another city woman, not after his fiance stomped all over his heart when he gave up baseball to rescue the family farm after his parent's sudden deaths.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you give me a cowboy I’m going to swoon… add to that the fact that he is a professional baseball player with a brazen attitude and I am done for! I LOVED this story. This is an unexpected chance love story that is full of steam and swoon worthy moments.
As I laughed and sighed my way through this story I also fell in love with the characters. They are passionate and sweet, kind and fiery. I loved the possessiveness balanced with the desire to let each other shine. The dialogue was perfect and it was like these characters were real, I felt everything while reading this story.
City woman verses the cowboy makes this story exactly what you are hoping for. The push and pull, the secrets and truths; everything is in perfect balance. I could not get enough of the interactions between the two main characters; they drove me to turn the pages. One minute I was backing one then the next I was rooting for the other. The secondary characters (I am thinking Grandma here) also made this story enjoyable. I loved the humor!! There is not a lot of baseball in this story so don’t get discouraged thinking its part sports romance. It is all about the cowboy and his sassy new love interest!! I have never read this author before but I will be looking into her stories for more! I received an ARC via NetGallery and am leaving an honest review.
