I'm not yet finished with this book - I'm about half-way through - but I'm trying to be give more feedback to NetGalley titles. I'll try to return to this review when I finish the book. (I'm usually reading several books at once.)

Christy Harrison's Anti-Diet is excellent; it exceeds my expectations. Not that I held low expectations, as I have listened to numerous episodes of Harrison's podcast, Food Psych. The book is better. It is well developed and thorough; I really appreciate the historical contextualization of diet culture, slenderness, and fatphobia. and the effective synthesis of examples and evidence from the research literature. I've read many books in this category, and few writers are able to skillfully combine findings from research with personal stories like this.

More comments to come after I read part 2.

This book is everything I hoped it would be! As a long time listener and lover of a Christy Harrison’s podcast, Food Psych, I was beside myself with excitement when I got approved for this advanced reader’s copy. My only hope is that more people outside the HAES movement get their hands on this book. I’ve seen Caroline Dooner’s The F*ck It Diet hit the feminist (riots not diets!) circles and Anti Diet is the more “grown up” version of the two. Can’t wait til everyone else gets to read it too!
