Unlikable characters and hard to follow the writing,
Would not have finished this book had it not been for needing to review it, and maybe hoping it would get better?
I tried to get into this book several time and the story just wasn't for me. I wanted to read this but maybe another time I can try.
This had a lot of potential - the premise sounded like something I'd love to read - but it just didn't do it for me. A DNF unfortunately, but I'm sure other people will enjoy it.
I looked forward to reading this book after reading the synopsis. This book was just not for me. I tried to read it several times, but I just couldn’t get into it. It may be just what somebody else finds interesting, but not me.
This was funny, entertaining, emotional, and made me laugh out loud so many times, my husband kept asking me what I was laughing at. Who hasn't been enthralled by a Hollywood marriage that goes wrong or bad? I know I have! This is a story about an ending relationship, but also about how one can decide to use that upheaval to make changes for the better.
This was a nice, light read with a good bit of substance. I would recommend this one to anyone looking for a good escape read.
From the cover and the blurb I was really looking forward to reading this.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find Agnes likeable and her snarky comments made her a bit annoying.
DNF’d at 15%
Agnes's husband want a divorce, and their daughter. When he changes the locks, she knows that she needs to change the rules. With the help of friends and family, she sets out to keep her daughter and find out what is important to her.
This book had a chance to go to couple of different ways. It could be totally out there with a bunch of airheaded people or maybe it could actually have some meaning, even if you have to look very deeply for it. Although this is not my typical genre, I found I actually did enjoy reading it. And I think it hit right in the middle of airheads and deep meaning.
I think this book could be one that makes fun of the rich and famous. But what I liked about it was it’s strong female lead character. When Agnes Murphy Nash finds herself in a situation, she quickly finds a way to take herself out. Yes, there are antics and jabs at Hollywood life, but Agnes Murphy Nash remembers what’s important- family.
4 big fluffy ⭐️’s
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced audiobook in return for my honest opinion.

I love a good rom com romance and this one did not disappoint! If you need something lighthearted you will definitely love this one!
Enjoyed this tremendously but I think it is definitely geared for older women. Laugh out loud funny and quite the read, older women need to pick this one up. 4.5 stars
This was very entertaining! I like stories every now and then that I can just enjoy with no expectations and this one provided just that. It was sassy, fun, and predictable, and Agnes was quite the protagonist. I loved her wit and honesty with basically everyone she encountered. It was a quick read that I got through in one setting.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the digital copy to review.
Did not Finish.
The blurb sounded good but the delivery just didn't work for me. There were so many snarky and descriptive comments that it got really confusing and I wasn't sure what was going on. Plus I didn't really like the main character so it was hard to care what was happening to her.
Probably just me and will be loved by others.
BEEN THERE, MARRIED THAT - Gigi Levangie Grazer
NOT FOR ME - 2 stars
Plot - 2.5 stars - The plot sounded tempting. Agnes is a Hollywood wife in a surprisingly (by Hollywood standards) happy marriage. At least she thought so until Trevor decided he's bored, and he goes out of his way to get her out of his life. It seemed as though it would be a light-hearted and entertaining look at life inside Hollywood's top echelon.
Writing - 1.5 stars - This is where the story fell flat for me. Grazer is a new-to-me author, and I felt that she tried way too hard to force this book to be entertaining. Each sentence contained a wisecrack or an inside joke, so many that it was exhausting to read. Although she did tone things down as the book went on, she still should ascribe to the "less is more" philosophy for more effectiveness.
Characters - 2 stars - I'll admit that Agnes is fairly likeable. She was a normal woman trying to be a successful writer, but she got sucked into the typical fake Hollywood life. But her crudeness and self-destruction made her frustrating and annoying. Her sister Fin is full of personality--the ex-con, ex-drug user who is still pulling stunts, but she's always got Agnes's back. She's fun and exciting, but she's also a criminal who doesn't seem to have any filters or limits. Funny, but also somewhat horrifying. Trevor is a confusing character because Agnes alternates between loving him and hating him. He's basically a child who is having a temper tantrum, and I found him uncomfortable.
Title - 2.5 stars - Well, it's certainly about marriage, and it's clearly a play on a common phrase.
Cover - 2 stars - Bright colors to catch the eye, but too cartoony for me.
Overall - 2 stars - I am clearly not the target audience for this book. There were way too many snarky comments and wisecracks--too many to be enjoyable. And the insider jokes made things confusing. There were mentions of brands (I think) and places (I think) and TV shows/movies/people (I think) that I just didn't get. And it felt like too much trouble to try to figure it out. I just skimmed through those sections. I know it's about divorce, which is of course an unhappy subject, but there was an unpleasantly negative taste in my mouth after finishing. I will not be reading anything else by this author.
Absolutely dreadful. I couldn’t even get through it. The writing is choppy with too many short sentences and paragraphs that seem cut off. I believe the writer was trying to appear more contemporary with her writing style but it was a big fail in my book.
First thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy. I really felt the description was going to be an interesting story but I really struggled with this story.
It was fast paced, and so full of comments, quips, and snarky jokes that I started to get confused about what was actually going on at any given moment, By the end nothing felt for the characters.
I have mixed feelings on this one. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line!! This is a great story about a woman who overcomes heartbreak and challenges after her husband wants a divorce. It's a heartwarming story and has absolutely, laugh out loud, moments! I loved Levangie's ability to capture sarcasm, which can be difficult in writing. Ultimately, there were editing flaws which really pulled at my OCD tendencies. For me, that was hard to overlook.
I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining. The characters were complex while being completely entertaining.
I was not a fan of the main characters and felt they were super annoying. This wasn't a bad read by any means, but for sure not up to par compared to other rom-coms I've read.
I ended up stopping halfway through the book since I wasn't invested in the characters or the storyline.
