Meh! This book had potential but fell flat for me. Very shallow characters and the writing had me going crazy “she said” “he said” after every sentence. I liked the premise but I didn’t think it was executed well.
This was a very entertaining book! It felt like I was reading about a reality show. The situations that Agnes found herself in were baffling yet hilarious. Her husband was cringe-worthy and made me worry about the state of Hollywood. :) This was a funny summer read for those who enjoy the inner look at Hollywood's elite!
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title,
I was looking for a fast, funny read to pass the time and hoped this one would do the trick. While I did find myself laughing I unfortunately never clicked with the characters and ended up setting the book down halfway through and not picking it up again.
Been There Married That by Gigi Levangie is an unique, intriguing and fun novel. How do you think it would be to be married to one of the most sought after Hollywood movie producer? Exciting, parties filled with A list celebs to rub elbows with even become friends with, being on the set with being being friends of the cast? In the begining, sure, but as time moves on,your own dreams, inspirations or even hobbies have been moved to the wayside, and your husband's own wants, needs, dreams and desires are the only ones that matter.
Agnes is married to that man, A few days after her birthday celebration, she is out with lunch with her friends only to discover that her credit cards and cell phone are no longer working. Truly embarrassed by this, Agnes heads home. You would think that a man could not sink any lower, well Trevor did. Trevor wanted to press the reset button in his life and delete everything with it.
However, sometimes when you press the reset button of your life, everything changes too, not just the things you want to change. Those changes may be no longer want to deal your stuff and everything that comes along with it, and they move on. Been There, Married That by Gigi Levangie was given to me thru Netgalley for a honest review. Trust me, you will love this book. Thank you Gigi for writing an amazing romantic, hilarious novel. Love Agnes.
I enjoyed this book but I didn't LOVE it. It was entertaining enough for me to finish reading it but not enough for me to shout from the rooftops how great it was. I absolutely had moments where I laughed out loud over Agnes' behavior or her sister's. I HATED EVERYTHING about her loser husband Trevor!!!
Overall the plot was pretty good but I just felt that it fell flat a bit.

I guess maybe I'm just the wrong audience for this book. Maybe it's being older, I don't really know. When I read the description of this book I thought it would be a light, fun, humorous, easy read. It's anything but that. The author tries to be cute and witty in the writing style, but it comes off as painfully bad. It's over the top absurd. The characters were equally unlikeable. I caught glimpses of where I think the author wanted to go, but it never lands.
What I did like about the book was the title and book cover. Both great. But having said that, Been There and Don't Want to Go Back Again!!!
My thanks to the author, St. Martin's Press and netgalley for a copy of this book in each for an honest review.
I thought this book would be a great light fun read but I really didn’t enjoy it. I could have done without the profanity and was a bit vulgar at times. I don’t think it adds to the story. Thank you to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for an advanced reader copy.
Only in Hollywood! If you like reading TMZ and seeing all the sordid details and craziness of the rich, this book is for you. I enjoyed reading the crazy schemes and the insanity. I definitely was rooting for Agnes. It is good to see another book by Gigi and I hope more books are in the works!
It is not typical for me to put down a book with the intention of never picking it up again without finishing it. But, here we are. I couldn’t stand the characters who are bland and fall flat. There is no real story, no real content inside these pages. Sure, casual summer reads can be fun! This is not one of those.
Do not waste your time. I hate listened to this. JUST NO. NO. NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOO! How does she keep getting books published?
(2.5 stars rounded up)
Been There, Married That is a hilarious and incredibly messy book. Every time I sat down to read it, I was taken back to days when I would drink wine and eat delicious food with my friends while watching Real Housewives. Agnes and the other characters are vapid and unlikeable. Think Schitt's Creek's Rose family with zero redeeming qualities and no character growth.
This unrepentant horrible state of the characters often made me laugh out loud. I've always been a fan of biting, sarcastic humor and Levangie definitely delivers. I think many of us enjoy poking fun at the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. So I laughed and experienced schadenfreude so why only 2.5 stars?
The manuscript needs a heavy editing session and restructuring. Flow is not a word I would associate with this read. Readers are thrust into scenes and jerked away before we are able to settle and absorb any of the critiques that could have made this an exceptional read. The stream of consciousness style filled with one-liners is exceedingly difficult to follow.
Overall, I was disappointed that Agnes's story fell below the mark. After closing the book I was irritated that readers didn't end up with a substantial critique, lesson, or perspective to take away from 336 pages. I enjoyed it enough to keep picking it up and laughing, but structurally it was a mess of short stories loosely linked. I'll try Levangie's work again in the future to see if this was an aberration but I won't be rushing to pick anything up ahead of my TBR.

This book is hysterical and kept me laughing the whole time. This may be Gigi's best work to date. I highly recommend it. You'll love Agnes! Buy it. You won't regret it.
This book is a lighthearted novel about the Hollywood "behind the curtain of celebrity society" and considering how much I love all of the Real Housewives franchises, I thought I would love this book. However, it seems like the entire cast of characters are unlikable, and as a reader, I kept thinking that the main character Agnes was the only sane character in the book (aside from Gabi and the Triplets), I kept second guessing her normalness since she continues to be plagued with one outrageous scenario after another without much of a will to fight back. I overall enjoyed the story but I think it would have been more concise with fewer crazy characters with a goal of making the overall story much stronger.
I really enjoyed this book! A quick glimpse into the life of the rich and famous. I love how Agnes handles life with her quick witty comebacks and funny references. A funny, quick read with plenty of riches and bratty behaviors.
I was so close to finishing this book but just couldn't. I tried but it just didn't pull me in at all. I was hoping that at some point I would get sucked in but it just didn't happen. I found myself reading the same page over and over and still not knowing what I was reading because I zoned out. I wish I couldn't have gotten more into the book but I just couldn't.
This was offered to me as a eARC from the author & publisher. Even though it's not my usual type of book, I decided to give it a shot. I couldn't even finish it, barley made it to the end of chapter 2. I don't think it's a case of it not being my type of book, I think it's actually bad writing.
After starting the book, the quality was so poor I thought maybe it didn't download properly, removed & downloaded it again. No help, do I checked some other reviews & saw others had similar issues.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
Agnes Murphy Nash has the perfect Hollywood life...or so she thought until arriving home to find the gates and doors locked and is prevented from entering her own house. What ensues is a humorous look at divorce, the stupid things people do while divorcing, and how badly we can act.
Gigi Levangie Grazer could have written Been There, Married That as a Debbie Downer book especially when discussing Agnes having to still cohabitate with her husband during the divorce. Anyone who had to endure cohabitating knows there is not much to laugh about. Grazier focuses on the negative but writes it with such style you are guaranteed to laugh.
I do not usually read "women's fiction" or "chick lit" but, after reading its description, I figured I would give it a try. I am so glad I chose this novel. I will continue with my norms (mystery, YA, SciFi) but will not shun women's fiction immediately from now on. I will probably still avoid romances but Been There, Married That is not a romance novel.
I also heard part of the audiobook. The narrator, Amy McFadden, did a fabulous job and really brought this novel and its humor to life.

If you're looking for a funny beach read, look no further. It's the sassy and snarky story of Agnes, the wife of a Hollywood producer and everything she has to juggle - a snarky teen, her own job and a husband who's ready to bail. Oh, and did I mention menopause?
Levangie is the real-life wife of a Hollywood producer and her take on the glitz, the personalities and the over-the-topness of LA rings so true. "Been There, Married That" has an amazing cast of characters with a fabulous Hollywood backdrop and is the perfect summer escape.

I was looking forward to a good light read with lots of laughs and for me this fell short. I don't usually dislike books but this one was a struggle to even get through. Thank you to Netgalley and St Martin's Press for allowing me to read this book and leave my opinion.
I was really looking forward to reading this book and discovering a new author. Unfortunately, I found this book heavy on the one liners and light on an engaging plot. There is no doubt that the author is clever but reading this was laborious and felt like an exercise in footnotes.
