Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle is the perfect book to put you in the holiday spirit. It was so cute. I really enjoyed reading this story as it is very unique from the other holiday books I have read this year. I really liked both Liz and Matt and thought this story was beautifully written. Definitely pick it up this holiday season!
Well here is the weird thing, I really thought this was a bit on the boring side but I never scanned a page or skipped a single word. The story is a great "day in the life" story fit perfectly as another reviewer said "for a Hallmark movie" and that is exactly the kind of story this is but there is nothing really close to any real drama unless you count here sorta male friend.
Matt and Liz made a great couple and the story has a strange addiction to it but overall it still seems kinda dull but maybe it is just we don't get many real slow romance with no sex and pretty much a Merry Christmas for all plot. So 4 stars since I can't see it as less.
Christmas Angels is a book about meeting the one when you are too young to know who you are seeing and having a second chance at forever. Matt and Liz met when they were young, when she was with her grandparents at their bed and breakfast. When it comes up for sale, she puts a bid on the property, as does he, and she wins. Once she arrives, she realizes the last owners gutted the place and hires Matt to help redo the place to it's old glory. She tells him and herself multiple times that she doesn't date people she works with. He was enraptured when they were younger, and he keeps telling himself that he doesn't want a relationship, but can't stop thinking about her. As they work together to bring the place back to what it should be, they grown closer.
This was a slow burn to Matt and Liz admitting the truth about how they feel, but it was worth it. There were times when both Matt and Liz drove me crazy, but that was just because I could clearly see that they were fighing being together and I wanted them to realize it as well. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend reading about this wonderful town and the people who live there.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle is a sweet warm Christmas story that emphasizes the magical wonders that can happen at the holiday season. It may not happen on a grand scale for a big group but for an individual such as for Liz Westmoreland. Then it can spread to others which is what happens in Angel Creek.
It is cheery fun read that is bound to leave a smile on your face as Liz and Matt pursue the future while also reminiscing about the past. A happy read, not a frown to be found.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Liz Westmoreland spent her childhood visiting her grandparents in Antler Creek at an inn the owned called Angels Rest. Since her grandparents passing, Liz has dreamed of one day owning an inn and getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. One day while surfing the net, Liz comes across the inn her grandparents owned and it’s going up on auction the very next day! She takes the plunge and is ready to start a new life.
Matt Hardy is back in Antler Creek having lunch when in walks a beautiful girl whom he fell in love with years ago while fly fishing at Angels Rest. Can she be the girl he once vowed to marry? Will she recognize him?
Liz and Matt reconnect and he is now her contractor trying to get Angel’s Rest back in working order. After a minor setback Liz is wondering if she took on too much too soon, while Matt is hatching a plan to show Liz she is exactly where she needs to be.
This story is so beautifully written by Nancy Naigle. It’s a cozy, feel good, heartwarming romance. I loved the characters of both Liz and Matt, along with all the supporting characters in the book. I curled up and couldn’t put the book down, it just makes you feel so good and you get lost in the story and the community of Antler Creek. Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press, Nancy Naigle and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. I absolutely adored it.
This book is a perfect Hallmark movie and I don't watch the Hallmark Channel. Seriously though, I loved the premise of the book. Plus, I, too, have a collection of angels from my grandmother that are very special to me.
Loved, loved Liz. She is strong, smart and very determined to reopen her Grandparents' inn. I mean, really, who bids on a property in one day and owns it the next? Liz does but that's just who she is. She has a few speed bumps in her way. Her parents not really believing in her; Dan, her friend that really doesn't believe in much especially her and then a bum ankle right before Christmas. It never gets her down. I liked her spunk and also how kind she was towards everyone. If she had one thing that bugged me was her stubbornness towards Matt at times. She just never seemed interested in him up until the very end. It took Krissy, Matt's sister, to finally open Liz's eyes to the possibility.
Matt is a great hero. He has a heart of gold and a willingness to help anyone in town. I totally understood why he was, at first, reluctant to even hope that he had a chance with Liz regardless of their history but he never wavered. His one line in the book at the end of a chapter, says it all. I loved that. His relationship with his sister is spot on. They supported each other no matter what. Plus, his god Elvis is a hoot. Unselfish and kind, he was Liz's guardian angel in the book.
I'm sure you are wondering if there was any conflict in the book. There was but it's very subtle. Between the stubbornness of Liz and Matt's thoughts of a city girl, there isn't much. I just wish that we would have had an epilogue on the inn itself. Maybe Ms. Naigle is going to write a book with Krissy in it. Please...
This is my first book from Ms. Naigle and it won't be my last. I loved her voice and the pacing that she sets in the book. Plus, I'm dying to hear more about the mountain area where the book is set.
Fabulous Christmas story! I feel in love with all of the characters of this book, especially Matt. Matt is everything a gentleman should be, such a romantic and caring person. Angel Rest is something out of a old time Christmas story. The traditions with all the lights, love, family and friends. I loved everything about this book! This book will make you laugh, hope in love and just all out put you in the Christmas spirit. I loved how the community came together and helped one another and was steeped in tradition. I felt like I was transported back into a simpler time where life slowed down, friends and family were important. There is so much Christmas cheer, from snow angels, sleighing, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, hot cocoa to Christmas cookies. The romance is a dream and so very romantic . This book is a Hallmark movie just waiting to be made!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This is a heartwarming story. It is a holiday romance full of warmth and heart. This feel good story pulls you in and the characters keep you entertained until the end. Matt and Liz were endearing characters and a wonderful couple. I would definitely recommend this heartwarming story.
Nancy Naigle knows how to romantically weave a Christmas story of Christmas memories from the past interlaced with new memories from the present with wonderful characters, Angels Rest Inn and a town full of wonderful, kind people wanting to help relive memories from their childhood of Christmas lights and music from the Inn.
I liked Liz Westmoreland and how she tried to make her dream of owning a bed and breakfast a reality. It seemed the angels were really looking out for her throughout this Christmas story. I enjoyed how the town of Antler Creek embraced her and helped her to make her dream come true and that Liz embraced the town and its people right back.
The romance that brewed between Matt Hardy and Liz added to the story. I liked that he had fallen for her a long time ago when they were just children and she was staying with her grandparents at Angels Rest Inn.
This story will leave you smiling and fill your heart with hope after experiencing the kindness that Liz and Antler Creek gave to everyone.. I enjoyed how the angels kept showing up out of nowhere and how they got there. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Christmas Angels by Nancy Naigle is a lovely holiday romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet. A sweet, wholesome, and loving kind of romance that is perfect for the holiday season. Christmas Angels is a feel-good holiday story that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. As Liz and Matt work together the chemistry that they share is undeniable and their romance begins to blossom. Naigle has written a magical story that is sweet and festive. A lovely holiday read.
Christmas Angels is the perfect book to set the holiday mood. It has all the magic for romance, family, friends and neighbors pulling together with a set purpose in mind. I enjoyed the warmth of the small town setting and wanted to live there.
Nancy Naigle writes awesome Christmas stories, and Christmas Angels is no exception. The story is about a city woman, Liz, who has always yearned to return to the inn her grandparents once owned. Christmas at the inn was always magical when she was little.
After she buys the property at auction, a handsome contractor, Matt, sets out to help her restore it to it's former glory and bring the magic of Christmas back to the small town and Liz.
Liz doesn't usually blend business and her personal life, but can she keep from falling for the wonder of Matt and the wonderful season of Christmas?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
I enjoyed this sweet holiday romance. It put me in the mood for Christmas season a little early. Restoring an old inn in the mountains is probably a lot more stressful than it felt like here, but since reading I have been showing my husband all kinds of fixer upper properties.
This is a great holiday story to get you ready for the holidays. Well written and engaging. A truly enjoyable story.
There are authors that I follow who yearly have Christmas Romance releases, and I always look forward to those special stories. CHRISTMAS ANGELS by Nancy Naigle is certainly one that I’ve looked forward to reading for a while now… and I was captivated from the beginning through to the end.
Everything you really need to know before picking up CHRISTMAS ANGELS is in the cover description. What you’ll find between the covers is a love story that involves more than just the main characters. You’ll fall in love with the small town of Angels Creek, enjoy the townsfolk, quirky or not, recognize the rumor mill that all small towns have, watch two people get a second chance at a life together amid restoring a beautiful old inn back to its former glory. While Liz didn’t recognize Matt immediately, I still see this as a second chance romance, since Liz has returned home to a place with fond memories to rebuild her life – and Matt still has that soft spot for Liz that blooms into so much more than a childhood crush. Watching their slow-burn romance, interrupted a bit by Liz’s firm no dating co-workers rule, become deeper and stronger as they work to restore the inn.
Secondary characters can make or break a story for me, and I adored the ones that Ms. Naigle has given us to make Angels Creek come alive with all sorts of small-town characters. I hope that there are more stories to be told from here as I’d definitely like to know how some people’s lives turn out down the road.
I had fun, I enjoyed myself immensely and would not hesitate to recommend CHRISTMAS ANGELS to any reader who loves a good romance, a touch of Christmas and the joy of small towns.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This was a sweet small town Christmas romance. Liz finally gets what she always dreamed of with Angels Rest. The only problem it looks nothing like it did in her childhood. Matt remembers Liz from their childhood and helps her to bring back Angels Rest to all it's glory. You meet some great people in this small town. I love how Matt and Liz go out and have fun, it would be something I would want to do with someone. I did cry reading this. I hope there are more books in this little town. I would love to go back.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Sometimes, fate is on your side. Liz stumbles upon her grandparents inn and bids on it sight-unseen. But, it's not quite how she remembered it, almost a money pit. She discovers Matt through a new friend, and he helps her renovate the inn and cottages.
Angels appear--her grandmother had collected then--in the most unusual of places. A sign of hope for the inn, especially when things seem to go wrong. But, working with Matt is everything right, and the town has embraced her, bringing life and light back to their mountain town. Matt and she love the town and all of the Christmas magic, and hopefully, they will find a way into each other's hearts.
A wonderful, slow burn, Christmas romance.

A feel good, cozy romance/women's fiction with a H.E.A. ending.
A young girl's dreams become a young woman's destiny when Liz Westmoreland reads a real estate auction notice late one night. Her grandparents' lodge is back on the market and sight unseen she outbids others to regain it.
Taking a break from her job as a project manager, she finds herself meeting contractor, Matt Harmon, at Angel's Rest and embarking on a massive restoration project. The townspeople rally around to help and Liz's memories provide hope and motivation when glitches arise.
This novel left me with a happy smile.
Heartwarming Christmas story.
Liz has reconnected with the past by outbidding others at auction for her Pop and Gram’s inn - Angels Rest. Her excitement and joy becomes diminished when she arrives to see it in an abandoned and gutted state. A former crush and the townspeople come together to make a dream come true.
Small town. Homecoming. Love.
Christmas Angels was an utter sweet, heartwarming, feel good Christmas read.
Liz had always wanted to take over her grandparents in Angels Creek. When she sees it come up for auction, Liz jumps at the chance to make her dreams come true. But when she arrives she discovers the inn has fallen in disrepair and will need the help of Matt Hardy.
Matt Hardy lost his bid for the local inn that butts up to his property but when he meets the winner, Liz, the his childhood crush that got away. Matt puts his wooing plans into because he doesn’t plan to let her get away again.
This is just one of those feel good holiday reads that push you right into the holiday spirit.
